For the past couple of weeks I’ve felt very strongly that Cousins would sign with the Falcons and the Vikings would take a QB in the first round of the draft, even if that means trading up. Everything that’s happened in the past couple of weeks just makes me more confident that will happen.

Pats trading Jones away surely means they will stay and take Maye/Daniels at 3. Then Minnesota might need to trade up to 5 to get JJ McCarthy. If the Vikings are high on JJ then that’s a trade that could suit both them and the Chargers.

I’ll be stunned if the Bears don’t take Williams 1st overall. I can imagine someone (maybe the Raiders) trading a day 2 pick for Fields once they see how the first round of the draft plays out, depending on how they feel about Fields vs Penix.

So we got Swift as our RB, guess that rules out taking a RB in the draft. Not sure on Swift, think we have probably overpaid

Wilkins to the Raiders - finally a stud at DT! Outside of Chris Jones, this was the FA for us to really push this D on and Crosby, Konce and Wilson is solid building blocks.

Also seen Jacobs off to the Packers - thought with our cap space we’d resign him but White did pretty well last season and can see a RB by committee approach working just fine going forward

Looked highly likely for the past few weeks. At that money, I’m ok with the Vikings looking longer term and being aggressive in the draft. Over to you Kwesi…
Yep, although I wonder if they enquired about Fields and Chicago wanted too much draft capital.

Makes you wonder if any of the Vikes, Broncos and Raiders look to be aggressive here or wait to see what falls in their lap - perhaps Chicago provides a curveball in keeping Fields after all and drafting MH Jnr at 1.

I think the Vikings and Raiders will have both been calling the Patriots recently to enquire about the 3rd pick, but the Mac Jones trade surely means the Pats look to take a QB at 3 themselves. Whether or not the Vikings or Raiders are willing to trade up to take McCarthy remains to be seen, but my prediction is that Minnesota trade up to 5 and take him ahead of the Giants.

Re Fields, I just don’t think he’s ever been anyone’s Plan A. His market will start to ramp up now Wilson and Cousins are off the market, but even then I think the prospect of having to pay Fields big money after just 1 year in a new offence probably makes even Penix a more appealing option for most GMs.

I think the Giants take Nabers or Joe Alt personally so might be the Chargers that look to trade back but it won't be to a division rival that's for sure.

We're all assuming it's;
Chicago - Williams
Washington - Maye
Patriots - Daniels
Arizona - MH Jnr

Well what a week for FA, watching some shows and they are all saying its been hectic, especially trying to catch up on all the moves etc.. Must admit in all the years I have been following NFL this seems to be the busiest with only a handful of 'mega' contracts, everyone seems to be looking at short term cap friendly deals along with players knowing that the money they would have wanted is not there.

Seems a little odd that the receiver market took a while to get going.

Atlanta - will be watching to see how this goes re tampering and what 'punishment' is handed out or not.

Draft next, with the Vikings already making deals there could be more to come.

Yeah for a 6th Rd pick next year. The market for Fields was softer than anyone imagined. Think Chicago would have been smarter to hold off trading him until after the draft or until someone suffered an injury and got desperate.

Rumours circulating that the Vikings already have a trade agreed with the Cardinals to move up to 4 in the draft by giving away both picks 11 & 23, so no idea what the Broncos are going to do at QB. And are the Raiders really going with Minshew/O’Connell as their starter?

Well that does not bode well for the Jets who are trying to ship Zach Wilson, maybe they will have to literally pay someone to take him, also with Jimmy G going to the Rams.

So Bears will take Williams, Washington take Daniels (crossed fingers), Pats take Maye, Vikings trade up for JJ McCarthy (possibly with Chargers rather than Cards).

Raiders - I guess that is what will happen.

I don’t see anyone trading for Zak Wilson. He carries an $11m cap hit for 2024 which makes him more expensive than the top ‘backup’ / ‘bridge’ QBs. He’ll get cut in the summer.

Well I didn't expect to see Fields traded to the Steelers after signing Wilson but both on favourable terms and makes them primed for another run at the competitive AFC North.

As @tommo84 says, Vikes will now package up a deal to propose moving up but I think it could be more likely the Chargers than the Cardinals as they need help everywhere and to rebuild around Herbert. That effectively means McCarthy off the table by 5th with 4 QB's taken.

Chargers won't want to deal with either divisional rivals in the Raiders or Broncos so whilst it's feasible both Nix and Penix are taken by both, I personally would rather we go elsewhere in the first as I believe one will slide into the 2nd round or we trade back up late 1st to get the 5th year deal option.

Go mauler RT or CB; Fuaga/Mitchell/Arnold

Hip drop tackles are now banned. Refs struggle to correctly call roughing the passer and targeting so no idea how they're going to cope with calling hip drop tackles.
