This Munn chap has experience in marketing & commercial stuff

The sort of thing the bald person like

Actual top flight football experience in Europe & Uk not so much

Might as well hire Olivia Munn
Spoken to a mate in Melbourne who supports Melbourne City

Says that they celebrated when he left as CEO, he was nicknamed Munt by their supporters as he was incompetent and bought shit players and coaches.

Also said they have dominated since he left. Maybe he put down the foundations…

Seems as liked by their supporters as Levy from the comments on social media he sent me when they announced he was leaving

Obviously all the view of an Aussie mar

Let's see how Munn does before writing him off shall we? Classic Spurs fans.

And this isn't me defending Levy, but it looks like a step in the right direction at last. It does feel like some refuse to give him any credit whatsoever and will just run him down at every opportunity.

Maybe he put down the foundations? He joined as the ceo 1 season after they were formed 😂

I did a bit of investigation, found the following on the City group website:

"Scott was installed as Melbourne City FC Chief Executive Officer in the Club’s inaugural year in 2010, and in nine years with the Club he drove substantial growth across the sporting and commercial arms of the organisation, with ever improving results of the field, including the men’s first ever silverware in 2016"

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Oh well, as long as we get some positive comments.

from one of the replies below the announcement about Munn...

wonder if he'll be doing the same for us, and taking over all football responsibilities from Levy?

Here's hoping....

That's the plan.

I passed on behind the scenes recently that a review was taking place behind the scenes and the club recognised the importance of getting it right and there would be some structural changes. I had zero info on what those changes were but I presume this was clearly a major one. Whether or not Levy can actually step away remains to be seen, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Does anyone know anything about the guy in regards to what we might expect? Hopefully the athletic will do an article on him.

Hard to get optimistic about that being the case though mate. That was the plan when Paratici was installed and levy couldn't stay out of it so not too hopeful on him staying out of it this time either.

Totally understandable. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I guess one of the big sticking points will be how much we will accept for sales. Levy has always over valued players so I wonder if the DoF will be allowed to sell if the prices are not what Levy expects ?

I thought Paratici was in charge of all football . Presumably this bloke replaces him . Fabio won’t get away with it

Doom and gloom merchant.so many variables. Look at Liverpool. If other teams play shit then everyone is in same boat.
We are still up there and in mox for top 4 , Limited chances I agree though not impossible.
Last two mangers were not shabby.
Not doom and gloom, facts.
13,000 and counting agree with me on the petition 😉

Looks to me like the bloke has a really good record of building successful football clubs from scratch. Just from what I’ve read about him in the last half hour anyway. The painful rebuild may be commencing at last.

According to Alastair Gold, when Levy employed Paratici, he (FP) laid out a comprehensive plan to restructure the club from top to bottom, from the recruitment of academy players, coaching staff, scouting system, all the way to the top including 1st team player recruitment , and according to AG, Levy is only half way through implementing this plan.

It’s probably one reason why he doesn’t want to simply sack FP, even if he can’t fulfil his particular role in the overall plan.

It’s also probably why Munn is not a replacement for FP but a part of the reshaping of the management structure Which would include a DoF, whether it’s FP or someone else.

For us, it feels like the key is removing Levy from football matters without shifting the club’s priority away from football. It seems that, however hard it is to believe, ,Levy is aware of this, and is, we must hope, trying to find a way to reconcile financial and football success, otherwise why else spend so much on football management?

The problem is he doesn’t have football people in top positions who he feels he can trust, and that is why he interferes in areas even he knows he’s not good at…I think we have to hope that more than anything, Munn is a man who will make sure that the football people will be allowed to do their jobs, and that he, Munn, will be the buffer between them and Levy. He doesn’t need to be some super-brain football manager cum player-recruitment wizard, or even know the European player market himself. He just (’just”!) needs to allow the football side of things to work.

FP‘s predicament doesn’t help. But it doesn’t need a football wizard to solve that, it needs someone who has Levy’s trust . Either that or a replacement for Levy, but that’s not going to happen for the time being.

So Munn’s appointment is crucially important and is not just a feeble PR shield to deflect attention as I get the impression some seem to think it is.

I think its a great role that needed to be created, it would be my dream job, so I hope Scott does well for 5 years before tanking it.and I swoop in.

On a serious note, like any position/role and recruitment, it will depend. Not just on the individual’s performance, but also what he is allowed to do.

I probably end up slightly on the Levy apologist side of the spectrum because I like to think/hope that Levy, being a smart chap, knows he is not a football expert, it’s why he keeps bringing in Directors of Football. The problem is the DOFs have their own approach and style, and have been hired more because of what/who they know football wise, as opposed to fit in with the club’s ethos. So we went from Arneson and his continental Europe allied with young British talent, to Comolli and his Francophile and data focus, to no one/Hitchen, to Paratici and a focus on Serie A.

Along the way we have paid bigger transfers with less success, and also bought older, with less resale value.

Hopefully the new appointment will see much needed executive direction, that then shapes the approach our DoF, head coach, scouting department, youth development all take.

watch him quit in six months

Absolutely man and course hope it is part of a wider plan for a reorg which removes levy from football side but would imagine it's nearly impossible for him to walk away after 20 years of it. Like management or playing I'd say it's like a drug to him and so hard to step back
