All good points but if we have a manager who is well aligned with our DNA, who also develops players and if we sign good talents at decent prices to suit that then we should be able to compete as best we can without being taken over by oil or states like Chelsea, city or Newcastle etc have.

The only thing I would ask if what does 'compete as best we can' look like?

As some have said it's been a promising start to the window.

Bringing in two good players in key positions that seem to match what the manager wants. And doing that seemingly without worrying about getting rid of the dead wood first.

As others have said it doesn't mean that we should be giving Levy a parade just yet.

He's properly messed things up in the last few years and it'll take more than James Madison to turn that around.

But considering how pants those few years have been, I'm going to try and at least focus on the small positives for now.

It's too simplistic a measure, but we're the 5th/6th (Newcastle weren't above us in the most recent Deloitte listing but they must be by now) richest team in the league therefore that should be the bare minimum.

I find it worrying that people are so easily won over

It’s not that at all, it’s credit where it’s due. All you need to do is look at Havertz fee vs Maddison’s to see why Levy deserves some form of credit for getting it over the line.

It doesn’t absolve him of any blame and he still has one hell of a game to play this window, but if we continue in the same vain he’ll buy himself a bit of patience from the majority of us who were fed up a few weeks ago.

I think he messed up when he appointed 2 managers who were always going to have unrealistic expectations. Ange seems a much better fit for us, and as long as we don't expect overnight success I think we might have a decent chance of climbing back up the ladder. I think we all have to be patient for at least 1 season.

I don't think anybody is won over - however Levy is not all negative, in fact when you consider how he has managed the growth of the club outside of the actual football I think we all would agree he has done an incredible job. If he can finally get the football side right as well then he is probably the best chairman in the league and we would all love him. It's a big IF though and it will take some time to convince us fans that he has finally got that right (as that is the most important part to us as fans).

We are 5/6th as far as money is concerned, but we are #1 as far as bricks and mortar infrastructure. Remember this was supposed to be the "game changer" that allows us to compete with those with more finances. Since we built the stadium and training ground to nurture all these youthful talents into better players, we've literally done the opposite by appointing managers who don't want to use the academy and neglecting our youth system to the point that most of the better players want out at the first opportunity a decent club looks at them.

My biggest criticism of Levy is his incompetence. There has never been a proper football strategy. Whenever we thought there was, it would be ripped up in a panic. Levy would appoint another random manager, another style of play.

The other criticism is the lack of sporting ambition. That doesn't mean trying to spend the same as the oil money teams, it means, trying to be the Borussia Dortmund of England. Within the restrictions of financial fair play, seeking to actually win something. Not just sitting there thinking...4th is the be all and end all.

Ambition and competence. The two things Levy does not have. It's crazy he is still in the job.

Not in the being won over category, however, probably the best I’ve felt as a Spurs fan since our away win at Marseille in the CL.

So far so good and Levy & co need to keep it going. Wise and targeted spending in key positions that will quickly evolve our style of play.

Hoping that the criticism, to put it lightly, has been realised and before the season starts that we move on Sanchez, Dier, Nbombele, Lo Celso, Tanganga, Sess to name a few.

Seems as though there is a clear strategy in line with the style of football with the two signings so far and Ange has a clear idea knowing how to work with a budget and most importantly who fits into our team.

Without a ball being kicked yet I’m now excited as the business is getting done early ahead of preseason.

I think we will have a better window as we are not going to have this rhetoric of “this is a club signing” or a manager’s signing. Need to be synced to the same hymn sheet and so far that’s what gives me hope.

Still a pessimist with Levy and this is mainly because of living through most of my life with the ENIC & Levy ownership, being used to the cycle etc. We shall wait and see but when credit is due, of course I will give it but early days. 😄

The window is going well so far because he's taken more of a back step it seems. He will still get involved to push deals through when needed. At least he's letting Munn and Ange get on with it working with the new network. This is how it should be and it was always the most likely scenario. In fact most have been happy with Levy out of the football side but remaining on the business side. It's just a question of whether it will remain this way. It seemed to happen under Paratici for a while and then we got reports of him getting involved again. At least now we have a manager who fits the budget more so his requirements will align more with what Levy likes. He's not going to stop a deal unless it gets too costly and I don't think we are shopping in that market anyway.

I still would prefer we push the boat out more. Looking at arsenal smash our transfer record shows their level of ambition. I know big transfers don't always work out especially for us. However when it's well scouted and the player is a highly likely success then we need to do that. This is where the issue is, will we ever push for more than top 4? I think we're pushing to get back into top 4 but I don't see us get to a point of challenging for titles yet. My concern is that Levy is always happy with that. We're going back to what we did with Poch which is great but we ultimately came up short because we never pushed for more.

Newcastle won't be overtaking Spurs yet on income they are still over 300 million euros short. CL will give them a boost this season but the next Deloitte league will show our income from last seasons CL so the gap could well rise . They are also a long way short on matchday income , their most expensive season ticket £852 so it's going to take some huge commercial deals for them to get anywhere near Spurs level of income , I even doubt they will overtake WHU in the next money league.
They might have the richest owners but that doesn't make them the richest club.

Who knew the answer was actually to employ a clone of Levy, so even when he's listening to Munn's advice he still thinks it's his own idea..

I would say that would be a title challenge if/when Pep leaves city, until then probably around 3rd-4th in the league and competitive in the cups in with a chance of winning any of them, all whilst playing easy on the eye football with a young energetic team and promoting and developing youth players where possible.

I can't see us finishing around 3rd or 4th in the league unless we increase our spending significantly. We would probably need to replace the whole defence at least to do that. Plus if Kane leaves then that is going to cost us more money to replace those goals and assists.

I personally would rather concentrate on winning the cups than focus on getting in the champions league places.

A positive start to the window, I'm going to enjoy it and hope that Levy is finally getting the right people in place so he can stay away from the football side. But he is reactionary and it'll take a couple more windows (for me) to really see if he's letting go.
