Basically if all we manage from the away games against Liverpool and Villa is a combined total of 1 point or less we are in real danger of finishing 7th or 8th because realistically I reckon if that happens we will need at least 7 points from 9 to stand a realistic chance of getting 6th, and even then we would then be reliant on Villa and Brighton slipping up badly.
I think we can win our 2 home games, it's the away that's the bigger concern but think we'll win at Leeds and get a result at Villa. All games are tough though so who knows.

I believe the top 6 is set to become the top 10 very soon.

I remember in the 00s, it was the top 4 or the Sky 4 as some used to call it. Spurs and Man city then broke into this consistently last decade which resulted in it becoming the top 6.

Newcastle have definitely joined the party to make it a 7 but i believe Aston villa will make it a 8th. Villa are a huge club with great history and potential and they seem to be on the up. West Ham are not far away now despite a poor EPL season, they also have great potential with their stadium revenue and are spending big too.

I think what will happen in the next few years is we will have a top 10 where one season a team could finish 2rd or 3rd and find themselves in 7th or 8th the following season. Like we have had this season with Arse, liverpool and Chelsea etc. I think this pattern will become the norm.

I think its good for neutral but obviously it will be frustrating for clubs and fans that have enjoyed consistency over the years. I think Man ciy are probably the only team guaranteed a top 2 finish at the moment and thats because they have pep (obviously huge money too)

The key for consistency for those clubs will be to remain patient with the manager if they are having an off season. More importantly, these top 10 teams need to entertain if results are not going as they expect them too.

Your Brightons and Leicesters will have their time under the sun when managed well but it wont last before they head back to bottom half, if not the championship. These clubs are too small and dont have the fanbase to generate the consistent revenues to stay near the top.
Way too early to say Villa will establish themselves at the top. It wasn't long ago West Ham were up there. These teams often struggle with European football though. Same happened to Wolves.

Spot on, it was only last season that WH qualified for Europe.
I don’t think for one minute the likes of Villa let alone Brighton currently have the infrastructure let alone the worldwide fan base required to challenge consistently.

We have lost it but for me I would sack the league off completely and try something different. Never will happen but I would love an experimental team right now
Richarlison
Danjuma —————————— Kulusevski
Devine
Sarr —— Skipp
Davies - Longlet - Romero - Porro
Forster
Why would we drop our best player that's ridiculous.

Then in a few years the top 10 will qualify for Champions League.

I agree and the other day levy said the same about mid sized clubs. They hit a glass ceiling and can’t go any higher because their fanbase isn’t big enough.

I would be happy with EL but nothing less, I don’t think the financial benefit from the ECL would outweigh the physical drain it would put on our squad.

We’re heading into a rebuild and if it means a year or two with no Europe then so be it. Arsenal did well enough without CL for a few seasons.

To be fair, how could we expect to compete with the likes of Brighton and Aston Villa?

TBF Brighton’s structure (entire club) shits all over ours, and Good Ebening has always been a good coach.

We’ve been in the top 4 or there about for a few seasons now. We were always going to drop out at some point, even if it’s temporarily.

Chelsea, Arsenal, United, Liverpool have all had seasons on the sidelines recently and I think the only two clubs who haven’t are City and us.

Inevitable.

I know but how many times in the last 7-8 years? I’m think it’s 6-7. If you compare that to our rivals only City have had less time out of CL than us AFAIK.

Lol that's just the normal ebbs and flows that you'd expect over 5-10 years of a league. It's not a "top 7" until Newcastle do it regularly.

Newcastle was battling for top 5 like 15 years ago and got relegated. Same with Villa. Leicester is probably going down less than 10 years after winning the title. None of them have the consistency we have. West Ham? LOL
