Wow, Now, jokes aside, would you deal a part exchange deal for him and say offload Defoe (when fit) to United as part of the deal??

No, but I'd swap him for Robbie Keane.

man utd are a spent force because they're best players are 35 and 36 and they have no cash to buy top players so he could well be getting out at a great time! i cant see him moving abroad he doesnt seem like a lad who'd settle well in spain or italy so that leaves only chelski and city really.

interesting times ahead for man utd

Part of me is delighted as it seems Man U and their fans think they should be immune to this type of thing - this is what other clubs have had to put up with for years.

If Rooney goes it is surely worrying times for Man Utd ahead - an aging squad without their talisman

New Sky Four: Spurs, Chelsea, Arse, Man City? Oh yes

Could be doing this to save his marriage. If colleen has said we need to be out of this environment (ie surrounded by scally friends/family all the time) or I'll leave you.

Wonder where he'll go, Real seems quite an obvious option, maybe paying £30m plus Benzema, especially as Ferguson has a hard on over Benzema.

Saying that though, Real have already so many good players, they need to play Alonso alongside a holder (Khedira for now), they then have Ronaldo and Kaka, as well as Ozil, Di Maria in AM and then Higuain up front. It begs the question, would he actually improve them.

Started before the (latest) tabloid barrage:

In an interview with MUTV filmed before he spoke to the media, Ferguson said Manchester United chief executive David Gill had told him about Rooney's decision not to sign a new deal back in the summer.

"I was in the office on 14 August and David phoned me to say he (Rooney) wasn't signing a contract," said Ferguson.

"I was dumbfounded. Only months before he was saying he was at the greatest club in the world.

"I asked to have a meeting with the boy. He reiterated what his agent said, that he wanted to go."

That was my first thought too.

I hope a club has turned his (Rooney's) head and he's now gonna sulk and sulk until he gets his way and leaves United.

Have some of that Fergie. This is what it feels like, you whiskey-nosed wanker.

As the implosion takes place, we may as well get in there. Ask Rooney to join and have a word with Berbatov too there. PL title, here we come!!

We are going to be the biggest losers here lets not even try & pretend we won't.

it's been stated a few times Fergie likes some of our players, Bale, Modric, Huddlestone, Wilson.

Fergie doesn't do 'like for like' replacements he'll be looking to alter his squad a little and I think Modric is the most likely candidate.

if Rooney goes in Jan Modric will be #1 Target.

:-(

Rooney isn't leaving Man Utd, what he actually said was that he was looking for a fresh tart.

Even after the sale of Rooney, with their debt I doubt they would offer the cash needed for Levy to even think about it. They will invest the money in 1 or 2 young prospects + maybe one proven PL players whos not wanted by everyone else, in the mould of Zamora maybe. The prospects could be anyone, maybe someone from south america as it seems United never have the problem with the needed permissions for talents. SAF is a long time admirer of Miland Badelj, who could replace Scholes finally.
