Don't know if it was him, but it is curious that his time here coincides with a complete shitshow of transfers.

If Hitchen was overseeing our January transfer window, I don't believe Ndombele, Lo Celso or Dele would have left, and there's no way we'd have made those two signings.

For several years our ability to pick up shit hot young talents for reasonable prices was up there with the best - Modric, Kaboul, Chadli, Dier, Son, Eriksen, Lamela, Alli, Bale, Vertonghen, Rose, Walker... of course we've picked up some duds along the way, but few would disagree that the value and contribution of those players far outweighs the ones who have been a disappointment.

And yes I'm aware he played a part in bringing Modric to WHL, but really I think his list of successes sort of starts and ends there.

Since he came back to the club in 2017, our recruitment - in both strategy and execution - has been a disgrace. This isn't entirely his fault, but he certainly bears much of the brunt for it. He and Levy have damaged us immeasurably in the past five years. Paratici and Conte are our best hope of cleaning up the mess.

Cheers a bunch Steve but I'm glad you've gone. Don't come back.

I don't think you can particularly aim that at Hitchen though. IMO, Levy knows he has to back Conte/Paratici now because it's pretty much the last roll of the dice. Hitchen was never in a position to call the shots like that and it seems that his work was always a bit of a side show while Levy held sway in the main transfer dealings.

Hmm

"It is believed, the source explained, that Hitchen was “unimpressive” during the interview process conducted by the board.

But Moshiri, who is being closely advised by super agent Kia Joorabchian, has made it clear that he wants the former Tottenham man at the helm.

That appears to be enough for a deal to be completed and it could get done soon."
