Well, maybe the reason for huge amount of money spent with no improvement on the first 11 is that from that list there are 2/3 players who were signed to improve the 1st squad immediately and they did that when they joined. Nkodou and Janssen were bought in 16/17 when Hitchen wasn't in the club btw.

Clarke, Sessegnon, Foyth(probably more Poch signing than Hitchen) were signings for the future and either they will show they are good players or we will sell them for a profit, hardly a shocking recruitment. Bergwijn and Sanchez showed that they are good players, Sanchez struggling 4 years later didn't change the fact that he was good buy.

And now part of Jose signings rather than Hitchen. We know that Hitchen and scouts liked Aarons for example, it was Jose who decided to go for Doherty. We needed someone to replace injured Sissoko, loan for Gedson wasn't a shocking recruitment too. I would also say that if you are calling loaning backup striker for 3 mil euro who currently has 1,15 G+A per 90 as part of shocking recruitment that the problem are some weird expectations and not the recruitment. (y)
Vinicius is a poor signing because of the lack of trust that’s been shown in him by the manager, not necessarily his fault but 3 league starts is hardly a glowing reference, again I’m not necessarily blaming him but what’s the point if there’s so little faith shown in him? I get we’ve got kane etc but still...

All I know is that when we were supposedly after Skriniar he was photographed in Milan
so he seems to be doing his part.
Wss
All those points you make maybe point to him doing his job and then his work being trashed by another party?

Not gonna beat around the bush here but how the Fck is this guy still in a job. He’s overseen some of the worst transfers in the club’s history along with being part of one of the most farcical Managerial searches. I mean has he actually brought in a single player you could really say was an unquestionable success ?

The telling thing for me is all of his players you could describe as punts have massively flopped Clarke Sessegnon (sorry but right now he is ) Gedson Foyth Rodon

I agree that he should have been shown the door. Ultimately if something is not working, you change it.

You have to conextualise some of the failures though through the general lense of the chaos at the club since Poch’s tenure started unraveling.

Rodon was a decent punt that didn't really work out but he was never terrible when he got a chance, Bergwijn I'm still not sure if he was worth it or not, also maybe he would develop differently without injuries and with more attacking coaches. If we make top 4 this year and he keeps playing well he will be worth it.

Also saying that someone like Foyth massively flopped when club bought him only as young talent, then sold for profit is a bit weird. Rodon also will be sold for a profit

They were bought as potential players for the club. Foyth was sold for a tiny profit. All those mentioned would be classed as flops. This is a pretty good test of his scouting ability.

What about Lucas Moura? I know he hasn't been super consistent, but he managed enough already to become a club legend.

Probably the best of about 20 players ?

It’s actually 23 players ( not including Bale) And let’s be honest Lucas wasn’t exactly a discovery he was a very good player not getting time at a very big football club. Hardly scouting excellence. In 5 years he hasn’t found a single unknown gem.

Scouting abillity! He isnt a scout. Im sure one man doesnt scout the 3,903 professional clubs that exist, within 201 countries across the globe. I think it has been said that our scouting network was poor and is one of the biggest things he and FP have been allowed to start to upgrade.
