I know Ange has mentioned it a couple of times but we absolutely have to avoid investing at CB until we have our wide forward and wingbacks sorted.

Phillips, Dorrington and our 17 year old Loanee all will progress through. davies is absolutely adequate for 4th choice.

Does not work like that!

This thread is for players you think would be good additions etc, exactly the same as the previous incarnations of this thread.

We have a forum for Transfers, use it for discussion of that please, this isn't the place. If you see a (credible) link, we've also supplied a thread in the Transfer section for requests for player threads. So none of that "I Didn't know where to post this" bollocks. You're well catered for but you need to play the game :woot:

Let's see how we get on ;)
In light of recent posts (now deleted) it's probably time to remind people that they ought to read the OP, quoted above for you.

Shame that Barkley is 30 as he is basically what we need in the middle of the park. Will be on a free too. Can't imagine wages would be massive either.

His contract expires this summer I believe.

I actually think on a 1-2 year deal he could be a good signing and give the likes of Bergvall a bit more time to develop before stepping aside for our younger players.

Would 100% take him for free.

He’s been fit all year too. Swap for Skipp or Hojbjerg?

Nothing wrong with bringing in an older head here and there if the rest are 23/24 and under

This is what we need. Nico just makes low blocks fall at his feet. Unreal talent.

Wait… you’re not advocating for a winger who can beat a man 1:1 are you? You should have mentioned it before 😀😀😀😀

To be I agree with you, I’d lack a little more variety in our attacking players, but most of all we need an elite talent.

I think he's going to have better suitors than us, unfortunately.

I'd imagine a few of the big boys will get involved with his release clause being that low.

Yep - Nico Williams, Mitoma and Olise would be fine. A fiver for each one? :sneaky:
I really like all of Williams, Olise and Raphinha who we've all been linked with. Latter two are more right wingers though and Williams usually plays on the left, so I feel like one of those two would be a higher priority. Raphinha a bit more creative and Olise/Williams more tricky dribblers.

Factoring in age and defensive workrate I feel like Olise would be best for us of the three

Right.

Can we hold the 1 v 1 winger/s talk.

Let's talk new number 9. We need one desperately imo.

Talk to me @Ghost Hardware amongst others. ..
Been saying this for a while. It’s the biggest reason it’s not clicking in the final third. Our wide players/full backs actually work the ball fairly well and get around the back even against a deeper defence but Son is not a lone central forward. Can’t play back to goal at all and Richarlison is inconsistent on that too.

Maybe we should just bite the bullet on Toney?

He's an absolute twat, but...

He's easily the best striker we could conceivably sign and is quite similar in playing style to Kane.

Tbh most of the names that we would probably be looking at have already been mentioned. Mainly because there just aren’t that many good strikers about.

You can forget about Gyökeres or Osimhen, we aren’t spending 100 mil on a striker. I don’t think they would even come if we did considering who else is looking for a CF.

Off the top of my head, just re strikers. Realistically I would think we will be looking at J David, S Giménez, B Sesko, J Zirkzee, possibly L Openda & V Boniface but I reckon they will want to stay + be very expensive, I Tony but I think his attitude will rightly put us off. Maybe we would have an eye on the contract situations of Lautaro and Vlahovic but I expect Martinez to renew and probably Vlahovic as well. Personally I’m not entirely convinced the likes of D Solanke, A Dovbyk and S Guirassy are of the required level and Villa aren’t selling us Watkins regardless if you rate him or not.

I can see us going for Gimenez.

He plays in a system similar to Ange's, is in our price range and we have been watching him for some time
