Thing is, I’ve never met a woman who minds being called a woman. I’ve met many who feel patronised by being called a lady. I’ve met thousands who are offended by being called a girl. Why not stick to a word that causes absolutely no offence?
Stop taking fucking surveys.

Kin ell. Popped in after seeing the title to make a contribution, wish I hadn't bothered!

Oh go on then. The women's game has inspired my daughter to play. A shy, artistic and lovely little lamb, is now sticking a set if shin pads on and getting 'stuck in' for a local team.

She's been to see the stadium and a couple of games and has asked to watch the women's side. My lad wants to watch too. Looking forward to it myself!

It's all spurs to my daughter and to me. Bizarre anyone would think otherwise.
Exactly this!
My daughter (8) has been the only girl in her after school football club this term but she loves it.
This week, I noticed another girl there too, hopefully inspired by my girl doing it.

The same thing happened with her starting cricket last year. She wanted to play because her older brothers do and this season, a couple of her school mates joined too. It's getting to the stage where the club can now put a girls team together and for me, that's a massive step forward.

The more publicity that the women's game gets, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

If you're such a dinosaur that you can't get behind women playing professional sport, maybe stay away from threads discussing it.

It makes me very proud, if even I have to pick her up wearing this!!...

Of course, I always ensure I'm wearing a Spurs shirt. ?

@McFlash Spurs Women v West Ham tickets are on sale now in case you didn't know ;-) (16th Jan)

and hell yes, the England game was so much fun last night - at one point it felt like we were scoring every 30 seconds. Seriously. (possibly a slight exaggeration) The people in Doncaster got a treat! I really hope our players get a chance for the England first team, we're getting so close...

May as well add to this... my 5 year old daughter is in her school's Wildcats club as well. She wants to be a goalie, so I got her some proper gloves, and a training ball. She plays in her Spurs Away top, with Son on the back. She was made up last week when she proudly declared that she'd made 10 saves.

The Wildcats programme has been SUCH a good thing - my daughter started on it, though sadly our local club relocated further away so we had to stop going as it took too long to get there. Prior to that we used to take her to play football at our local team in SE London and the boys would never pass the ball to her (and on more than one occasion she was told by a boy that "girls don't play football" to which she looked at them like they were ridiculous - this stuff starts from the lowest levels, we're always fighting - this is where you pick your fights to be heard) - though she's not the most demanding of children, so came away each week disheartened. Thank god for Wildcats - it built up her confidence so much, she made some great friends and I get the feeling that if there was somewhere locally that offered it she'd be training as a goalkeeper now as well.
I interviewed Casey Stoney a few years ago, and on chatting with some of the teachers at my child's school they said the reason she got to where she did with football is because she didn't listen to the boys who said that to her, she kept going, and she ended up better than them (and her brothers too) - you have to have a certain kind of personality to get through all the crap. Now it's players like Stoney who are helping pave the way for today's kids.

Did anyone watch the FA Cup Final yesterday? The team in red didn't bother to show up! I had a dream before she signed to Chelsea that Sam Kerr would sign for Tottenham (like I said, a dream), so in some ways I'm always happy when she scores, apart from when it's against us. We've always liked Fran Kirby too.

Yesterday also marked the 100 year anniversary when the women's game was originally banned, being deemed as "most unsuitable" for women to play, despite crowds of over 50,000 watching the game. There's a decent writeup here for anyone who isn't aware.

Was hoping Kyah Simon came to us with the same OZ scoring boots as SK and from the same mould as Alex Morgan ... but alas not seen it yet. She seems settled and happy .. she just needs to find the net - same for Tang

1-1 at half time against a resiliant Villa team ..... we are still so wasteful and too slow in closing down
When we do get in the last third we panic play. We luckily got a penalty which Simon calmly scored but i did expect more from her. Why is Percival up front and Simon on the wing ... she is wasted out there and Percival too small against their big defenders. Like to see Tang given a chance as we are not in control of this game.

At last a clean move and pass thru to Williams who control and fires under their keeper 1-2
That was only the 2nd time in 67mins we have created a proper attack at their goal. More of this pls COYS
I have to admit I expected more from Simon .. she is nowhere near the class of her Ruski Oz partner
