He's a Davies on the right pretty one paced though not bad defensively. Personally I'd like to see a more explosive in defensive and attack right wing back.

Maybe Mourinho’s lop sided full back system will be switched to the right, allowing Sessegnon to bomb forward from LB?

if we do sign Meunier this could very much be the case like Ivanovic and Cole at Chelsea maybe...

Meunier being compared to Davies, being called Aurier without pace is daft.

From a defensive stand point, the guy reads the game very well and is very physically imposing so wins most things that come his way and deals with quick attackers before they have a chance to use their pace. Going forward he’s got very good technique and is an excellent passer, good dribbler and very inventive. He also has a goal in him and isn’t bad with his left.

I’d much prefer we play with two flying wingbacks like 16/17, but however you skin it this guy is a significant upgrade on any current right back option at the club, defensively and offensively. There is good reason why he was starting right wing back for the best attacking side at the last World Cup. Age is a concern but on a free, even if only 2/3 years, he’s a very good solution to one of our biggest problems.

Imagine Aurier with no athleticism. That's Meunier.

Not sure you have seen him play ... the obligatory you tube video shows him to be anything but unathletic, and he is also pretty skilful and very calm in possession with good assists.

Apparently "Daily Mirror" writes that we're in for Michał Karbownik from Legia Warsaw (currently leaders in Polish Ekstraklasa).

What can I say? He's probably the biggest talent in Ekstraklasa right now. He's playing left back, but he's right footed and until this season has usually played in midfield. He's quick, very offensive-minded, but makes defensive mistakes.

10 mil would be the record in Polish league by a mile, but I doubt Legia would demand that kind of money to sell to us. Without match day income the biggest Polish clubs (Wisła, Legia, Lech) will certainly need to sell players to break even, plus Legia will probably be without European cups income next season, too.

Does he come with a step ladder and maxi-muscle weight gain lol. 5ft 8 and under 12 stone... will blown away in the wind lol. An interesting link considering the ITK we had re Mourinho’s Type was tall, strong and athletic. In saying that the arguably best available left back at the mo is Grimaldo and he’s only 5ft 6 lol.

No room for a left back unless Davies leaves. Agree this Polish lad seems like agent talk red herring. Would love Grimaldo - just not gonna happen.

If rose leaves as expected and if sessegnon is considered not ready to play lb then there’s plenty of room for a new lb

I think we need a LB more than a RB. Aurier was looking loads better and Tanganga offered decent cover. At LB, Davies struggles for pace and offensive quality and Sessegnon looks out of his depth at the moment.

Yeah for me Davies is decent back up but we need better for a starter

Doesn't that put him at almost exactly the same height and weight as Danny Rose, who has never been accused of being too lightweight?

Meunier, Willian, Partey and Godin for 40m total would be great business. Especially if we can sell Serge, KwP and Lamela to bring that 40m back in. Nett Zero.

Got to think about the HG quota as well, we're pretty tight on it atm.

Would be a spectacular signing

In truth, I would find it almost impossible for us to fund this signing even if Covid-19 never happened and we had CL football

With the probable hit on our finances I think there is no chance of this one happening now, especially when we have so many areas in the team/squad that need addressing

Would be a hell of a statement of intent by the club if he were signed in addition to some of the other names we've been linked to

I do wonder if we’ll be looking at players coming out of contract only, or players sourced from lesser leagues where prices may be more favourable (maybe some Campos recommendations?).
Thomas Meunier for RB
Layvin Kurzawa for LB
Malang Sarr for LCB
Willian for RWF
Giroud or Dzyuba for CF, maybe Muriqi if he’s low priced
Alternatively can Mendes pull some strings on the likes of Ruben Dias and get some kind of long term loan deal initially, like we have with Gedson.
Another option would be the players like Semedo and Umtiti who Barca seem to be actively lookingc would their stance affect the price.

I’m not expecting any Dybala level links this summer. Not that this is a bad thing. There are some players listed above who could actually make us better rounded as a team. With better balance, and some time on the training pitch, surely we’d bounce back well.

I think the whole landscape could change dramatically in the transfer market. Many clubs will be desperate for cash and I think transfer fees and wages will drop. As a result I think a lot of the top players will want to stay put on their current contracts.

On the Athletic From the Lane podcast they understand Meunier won't be coming, not sure where he will be going, but likely to be someone in CL.
