I've never gone to see Stoke play, but have watched them on TV many times. I'm unfortunately one of those saddos who watch as many games on TV as I can. Because I love football, for example I took the WC off work to watch every game (yep I'm obviously currently single ).

We're getting way off topic here and I for one am scared of the eye.

You don't think Shawcross is an upgrade on Daws, fair enough. I do. I'm sure we both share our love for Spurs and I for one am looking at an almost empty bottle of JD waiting for the game tonight.

And if he does, who cares? It's a Mickey Mouse kick-about whose main purpose is getting us a bit of US recognition—a marketing exercise. Don't knock it, but don't pretend it's anything to do with real-life EPL football, either.

Why? These days you can have your pick of the best world football can offer, and yet you choose to watch Stoke?

The computer says No.

Not being given to repeatedly beating myself over the head with a particularly spiny cactus, I watch as little of Stoke as I can, but from what I've seen, and from what the stats tell me, Shawcross is not an upgrade on Dawson. He might be an upgrade on last season's Kaboul, but people don't seem to want to hear that.

What I would like is a serious upgrade on Dawson and Kaboul, not someone of the same kind of quality.

A comparison of Dawson and Shawcross is like comparing whether to eat dog shit or wolf shit, they are probably about same and leave a horrible feeling in your gut.
