He's a damn good footballer. Technical, hard working, tough to get the ball off. He's wasted on City's bench, the same way the likes of Scott Parker was at Chelsea all those years ago.

Being able to rotate between Bentancur and Phillips in that deep playmaker role is not to be sniffed at.

Wow I thought he was 23 / 24!,
That's how old he was when he made his England debut...in 2020.

The fact that people assume he's still young just goes to show that his career hasn't kicked on as expected.

If I remember correctly he was injured in his last year at Leeds and really struggled when he returned. Had a few injuries at City too, and that would be my only concern. As a player he seems tailor made for us. Very surprised people would turn their nose up at him. There's a reason Pep signed him...

I can't believe how many are saying no because he can't get a a game for City. Obviously the price would need to be right but he was excellent for Leeds and has always done well for England.

Fact is he's a very good player and I'd take him every day of the week and twice on Sunday over Skipp and PEH.

Wages ? Could be an issue

If our scouting department and recruitment back themselves I think we could find better value, hos wages and fee you think would be high, we need to keep finding Udogie, Sarr and Vdvs

Depends how much he wants to play I guess.

Reminds me of a Ross Barclay situation, maybe not good enough to make the move up. I think he is a good player in some games, but not enough for me to be consistent, rotation with bent might work tho, I think he would enjoy Ange system, not sure his head would fit us thru progression of what Ange wants.

I don't see where he fits. I honestly think that our #6 rotation is Bissouma and Bentancur with the latter also being a good enough to play at #8. Phillips has a great passing range and will find our wingers with that, but I wouldn't think of him as press resistant like the other two.

If he's genuinely fit then he'd be a great signing

Injuries would be the only thing that would make me think twice, but he's an excellent player in a position we lack options

Plus he's homegrown

Would be odd if we weren't interested

I think it’s very likely that Bentancur will be a 8 in Angel’s system, rather than a 6, I’m sure he could be effective at 6 and also probably 10 but more as cover than main spot. So for me it’s Sarr and Bentancur for the 8 spot, with Bentancur being more flexible.

That then leaves the need for another 6, which I think KP very much is. He’s HG and certainly an upgrade on PEH and Skipp in this role IMO. It would actually allow us to sell PEH and maybe even Skipp in the summer.

Wages might be a bit of an issue but I can’t see the fee being one.

Getting KP, Kelly and Eze in January would be some seriously good business IMO.

If peh goes I can see us making a ‘loan with option to buy’ offer
This is the only acceptable scenario for me. Would be uncomfortable with the club making any significant commitment for him when he’s barely played a lick of club football for the last two years. And because any move would be based on opportunism and reputation rather than scouting/data.

100% this, would definitely take him, Liverpool also been strongly linked to him.

I prefer the idea of taking the better players (playing well) at the so called 'inferior teams' compared with signing the average players from 'top clubs' (who aren't playing at all).

If the Ange appointment has taught us one thing, it's "bigger isn't always better" (metaphorically speaking of course. I love the bones of that big Aussie care-bear).

Would give us a real alternative to Bissouma, can also play the Bentancur/Sarr role with an upcoming AFCON. Yes please

I'm sure if you asked Arsenal fans who's had the bigger impact out of Rice (West Ham capt and regular starter) and Havertz (Chelsea squad player), they'd only be one winner!

Exactly mate.

And he'll get more game time with us, a hell of a lot more, even if he is initially on the bench here.

Always rated him, and would be a great replacement with PEH likely to leave.

Could replace PEH and Skipp in one go I guess. Shame to lose Skippy though since he's COYS through and through.
