I'll be watching it with my mate from Blackpool. Let's hope we smash them 5 or 6 nil.

He played a fair bit as far as I know, I think we've been training him into a LB as he doesn't have the guile/skill to be a winger from what I've seen.

Apparently he's been impressing at left back in training, but I'm not sure if that was just posted off the back of people reading the papers reporting that he might start at left back.

I'd still go for a 3-4-1-2 today.

If he plays at LB he could save us a few quid in the summer. We need cover for BAE and he has potentially three games to show he's worth his place in the squad for next season.

I suspect it'll be:

Gomes
Kaboul Gallas Dawson Bale
Lennon Sandro Modric Pienaar
VDV Crouch/Defoe

With both BAE and Charlie out I think Harry will try Bale at LB and give Pienaar his first start in a while. Harry has wanted to try Bale behind Pienaar for a while (Pienaar was a big part of Baines' rise to stardom at Everton- constantly unleashing him down the left) but due to injuries he's never had the chance.

I guess Harry might drop Lennon and put VDV on the right with 2 strikers up top, or perhaps he'll try Lennon on the left, but personally I think this lineup has the best combination of balance and attacking flair.

I know this is a subject that has been discussed to death, but I am really starting to think Bale's future is at LB. Since teams have started doubling up on him he looks nowhere near as effective (aside from the odd moment of absolute brilliance), and I think playing behind a clever, hardworking left-sided midfielder like Pienaar could really bring out the best of him as a (very) attacking fullback.

Against West Brom I thought Bale was 10 times better once he was moved back. Not only did we retain possession better, but West Brom had no idea how to deal with him, and the monkeyman had acres of space to run into. Obviously he'll need to work harder and track back more than he has done in recent weeks (sometimes he seems to think he's a support striker and goes walkabout) and there will be games where he's more suited as a winger- but on the whole I think this is the way forward.

Pretty adventurous Nic, all I can hope is we really put on a performance today and bang in a few to get our confidence back - oh and an Everton win wouldn't go amiss either!

I need an Everton victory today, before I can get excited about this game.

Not against Rose being given a chance at Left Back, especially if Harry and the coaches have seen something in training or whatever. Need another option as backup to BAE as Im not sure Bale wants to play there in the future, even though he could do a perfectly good job there, especially in home games.

If Rose does play though, then surely this is 100% confirmation that Kranjcar is off in the summer, and also makes Pienaar's signing seem even more strange to me as he doesnt seem to be getting a look in.

Last result I want today is a draw.

No, really.

I would rather we lost than drew... a point does nothing for us, but 3 could keep Blackpool up and West Ham down (which would be a result in my books)

You can't just go around posting rubbish all the time.

First, the game was on a Sunday, not a Saturday.

Secondly, the game was a 3pm kick off.

Was it a 3pm kick off? for some reason i have the image of the game being in the dark

I really don't see the logic in Rose starting at LB - not so much as in it's a strange out-of-left-field move but in the fact that Harry constantly drops hints of Bale being the future LB.

Surely if this was the case we would play Bale there and have either Pienaar or Modric out on the left side of midfield (I'm now completely discounting Kranjcar) but I'm assuming if we do play Rose it's something that has been practised in training this week.

We'll soon see...

The issue re Rose is really that Bassong is a proven international who played really well at LB for 1/2 an EPL season.

Krancjar is injured atm I thought.

also, what if Bale played on the right and lennon was dropped? Seriously doubt it but you never know  would be strange though!

Hopefully our strikers today make up for their dismal performance last time round against Blackpool thereby boosting our confidence prior to playing the bin dippers and Citeh
