But they did force our keeper into a MOM performance.
Yes, I did not say CP didn't create some big chances and they looked sharp on the counter, but that doesn't take away the fact that they parked the bus.
But they did force our keeper into a MOM performance.
An excellent 3 points - Absolutely delighted.
Despite the erratic performance there was some real positives to witness and not the normal ones:
1) Gazzaniga - Man Of Match and rightly so. A great debut. He had one lapse and was slow off his line when Zaha missed but he learned rapidly from that. An outstanding debut.
2) The back 3 of Verts, Sanchez & Dier. Verts continues to become a master of the tackle and his positioning. Sanchez has pace a calmness and a youthful energy - a great addition and Dier is starting to have a great season - great positioning and covering in his less familiar role as part of a back 3. It shows positively how well we can do without Toby.
3) Good to see Rose back.
4) Aurier is my heart attack waiting to happen.
All the above is a focus on our defensive unit and how vital it is when we're not firing in midfield or upfront. In those departments we looked absolutely knackered.
Put in perspective... in 17 days we've played Madrid twice, Liverpool & United and now Palace (With the Shitty Spammers Cup game in-between) - 6 games in 17 days - 5 tough ones. In comparison Palace have played 4 games and one of those was against Bristol City. It's been exhausting physically and mentally for the players. I applaud them for 3 hard fought points against a much improved Palace team. I would like to buy Zaha.
We're picking up nasty little knocks and injuries - we really need the break and hopefully we can pull out some more international players and take some well earned R&R.
Considering the imbalance in the Palace team which meant Rose saw a lot of the ball, he did very little with it. Not sure how many (if any) of his multiple crosses found a Spurs player. So you'd have preferred a choice between Trippier and KWP today? CP were very compact in defense and were very tight on Aurier and Sissoko. I don't think Trippier would have had much joy. Conversely, Rose was in acres of space on the left.
Really? Lol
It might take time to see how key this result is but with so many injuries and our rivals all playing with each other its so important, especially going into international break
Fair play. I feel very lethargic. I hate Sundays.

Getting a bit fed up of hearing the constant lazy and completely unjustified criticism of Sissoko. Why do people feel the need to find a scapegoat to pick on? Seems like Sissoko is the current target of choice.
He's not Alli or Eriksen, he'll never have their first touch, or get their goals or assists. But he brings much more to the team, with many different attributes, than people give him credit for.
He had a pretty good game overall today - in an overall average team performance - from the criticism on here you'd think he'd been terrible.
You've all been watching football all your lives, right? So why can't you see the abilities of this player, or do you just want a scapegoat to moan about?

Rose had a great game. Why do you think he was dreadful?

Today we saw the other side of us after the exploits of Wednesday night's win and that is yes we can play some great stuff as we saw against Madrid, buy also we can win ugly when not at our best which we can safely say was not today.

Loved how Sissoko fought hard to win the ball just before the end. He is vastly improved but we can get better.Thought Verts and Dier were superb today along with the keeper and Sanchez!
Best game Sissoko has had for a while but he is still a really limited player and I'm not sure how he keeps getting in the side.
Aurier makes a mistake every game and in a tight one he can be the difference between the result going either way. Tripps, although slower, does have much more quality about him at the moment!
