I think Eriksen will hold out to leave on a freebie

Agreed as he could go to any team in the world then on astronomical wages, RM have only ended their interest due to Levy’s valuation

My memory is not the best but, did we not try to initially sign Eriksen when his contract was expiring, only for him to decide he wanted to wait 12 months (because he wasn't quite ready for the jump in quality) and then signed a new contract (out of respect for Ajax) so that they would get a good fee when he moved on?

Like I said, my memory isn't the best but I'm sure that happened. I reckon he'd surely act in the same manner for our club, too.

If we genuinely want to improve then I would go all out and get one of these out of each list:

AM/WF:

Werner
Isco
Zaha
Rodriguez

CM/DM:

Rabiot
N'Dombele
Milinkovic-Savic
Berge

RB:

Wan-Bissaka
Aarons

Not sure who i'd go for exactly but I would look for the following:

1. New Striker to replace Llorente
2. New CM to replace Dembele and Wanyama
3. New AM depending on what we do with Eriksen and if we could upgrade on Lamela.
4. Backup 3rd choice keeper (ideally a young HG...) to replace Vorm
5. Upgrade on Ben Davies, ideally Chilwell but probably out of our reach. I also like the 2 fullbacks at Norwich.
6. New CB if we sell Toby.

I would class Janssen, N'Koudou, Wanyama, Lamela, Vorm as expendable. Davies, Aurier and Trippier we could let go if the right offers came in and we could get upgrades in. No point in keeping Onomah, Carter-Vickers, Georgiou etc if we won't use them either as they will need registering for the PL.

I'd like us to use KWP more and I would keep Skipp around the 1st team squad like we have this season.

Every time I watch Maddison, I'm impressed. Think he could push on to great things under Poch. Anyone else?

See I don’t see Sissoko slowing down, he’s unbelievably fit. I think there’s at lest 2 good years in him. I only think we need on CM to replace Wanyama. I think if it’s Winks, Neves, Sissoko, Dier and then the likes of Dele, Eriksen, Foyth, Rose, all able to fill in there when necessary, we are doing fine. Don’t forget, Skipp will be more involved too next season.

I like the looks of Berge, and Genk have an excellent track record for developing to young players, but Neves has already shown he’s the real deal in this league and I think he could play successfully with any of Winks, Sissokon or Dier.

I guess my ideal next season would be to evolve as such:

Lloris
WPeters* Alderweireld Sanchez Chilwell
Winks
Eriksen Neves
Dele
Son Kane

Mitrovic Lucas
Lamela
Skipp Sissoko
Dier
Rose Vertonghen Foyth Trippier^
Gazzaniga~

*Aarons
^Aurier
~Button
You’ll note that four of my five signings are Premiership proven, and the fifth has been flying in the Championship. Mitrovic will be relegated in all likelihood and Button I’m sure would rather play back up here than Brighton. Ok, Chilwell, Neves would be difficult to extract but they’re both top quality young players who would also improve our first team.

Button wouldn't be back up, he would be 3rd choice. this 3rd goalkeeper is going to be 1 of the hardest o get in. hopefully by the start of next season either Whiteman or another youth product will be rated enough to be given the chance. the same as before people not worried about having anyone decent as a 3rd choice needs to look at just this season. Gazzaniga has made only 2 premiership appearances and 1 CL appearance, which with an inexperienced keeper could of cost us 6 points and out of the CL

Like people have said, you look at our team and a couple of flying full backs would change the dynamic of our team straight away, this is if Rose can't find his past form.

And the other clear area is CM, where we either need one individual of huge quality or someone like Sander Berge and another.

Other than that a potential rapid winger / forward.

But this all depends on Toby, Eriksen, Lamela's fitness if Moura sticks around etc etc.

But one thing is for sure if we don't improve our full backs next year i'll be so disappointed.

I think we should consider outs first. This has always been an issue and I'm more than happy for Poch to introduce youth players as gap fillers, and we should look to remove players especially who are not HG and effectively gap fillers for us.

Out: Llorente, Janssen, Vorm, N'Koudou, Trippier
Injury/contract out: Wanyama, Alderweireld, Eriksen

In: Button, Mbabu, Telles, Szoboszlai, Lozano
Injury/contract out: Pulgar, De Ligt, Brooks

OR Brexit in: Button, Aarons, Chilwell, Cook, Hudson-Odoi
Injury/contract out: Rice, Kelly, Brooks

Still doubt we're going to go for 'marquee signings'.

Top targets for me are Brooks, Lozano and Szoboszlai (one for the near future in CM).

If Eriksen and Toby go I would love for us to throw the money straight at N'Dombele and Werner (who will only have 12 months left so the price wont be as high).

Knowing us we will just bank the money and claim two 11 year olds in our academy will be the future heirs to those players.

100% agree on Brooks

£50m a hell of a lot but he’s a real talent. could be the next superstar/Eriksen fir the next 5/10 years.

A solid CM a must.

I think we will see at least 6 ins. Toby will go with the clause being activated and there is no way Levy lets Eriksen go into the last year of his contract. Plus Vorm and Llorente contracts expire. So with Dembele gone that’s 5 in. I would love both RB’s to change as well, but can’t see that much change in one summer! Chilwell, Rabiot, Werner and Zaha on my wish list!

I am assuming that we will lose both Toby & Eriksen. If both dont sign the contract, Levy will not let them run down their contract next year.

Given above, if we really have to be challenging for the title , my wish list is below :

Out
  1. Lloris - we will never win a title with his big game howlers & inability to stop penalties
  2. Toby, Eriksen - Contractual reasons
  3. Trippier,Aurier - Not my RB
  4. Wanyama - Not good enough, especially being injury prone now
  5. Lamela - 6 seasons at the club. Nothing to show for. Not even scored 6 PL goals in a season once
  6. Llorente - Out of contract
  7. Vorm - Need a English GK as 3rd GK for squad homegrown numbers
In (Wish List)
  1. GK : Onana (Ajax) - His eye is on Barca transfer. If we can get him, that would be a great coup
  2. RB : Wan Bissaka
  3. LWB : Sessegnon (once Fulham get relegated)
  4. 2nd Striker : Mitrovic (once Fulham get relegated)
  5. CB : None, if we have to spend money elsewhere. I would move Davies to full time CB role. Sanchez,Foyth,Dier,Vertonghen,Davies can share the burden. I feel Davies is a far better CB than LB. Also, Foyth will only improve. No point in bringing a 30m CB young CB, when Foyth could do the same thing. I would spend in CB only if its a topclass experienced CB
  6. CM : Ndombele or Nicola Barella
  7. AM : Kai Havertz (am not sure he is interested to move out of Germany) or Ruben Neves (would be expensive though)

It feels like we have been here before. We all know how the story ends, but just for shits and giggles, lets do this again:

GK: Lloris, Gazzaniga, Vorm

Vorm is out of contract this summer, and there is no reason to re-sign him like we did last summer. McDermott and Miki will play a key role here - but even if we do not go with a Youth player as 3rd keeper, we must find a HG keeper to be 3rd choice. Lloris is still top choice, but I am happy for Gazza to challenge him.

RB: Trippier, Aurier, Walker-Peters

I said last year, that one of these players had to go, and here we are. So, this year I am being serious - 1 or more have to go. We missed out on selling Trippier at his highest level last summer, and whether we like it or not - he is HG. Aurier has not taken his chances well this year, and may be running out of time. It does not matter what we do here - so long as we do something.

CB: Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Foyth (CCV)

Alderweireld can go for £25M this summer - thing is, I don't think that is a sure thing that he leaves. Time will tell, both Manchester clubs are likely to be interested - maybe even Chelsea or Arsenal. Poch clearly prefers Sanchez to Foyth, right now. But I think we are pretty set here - if ALderweireld leaves, we can push Dier back to CB - or go find a reasonably priced CB to take Toby's slot. CCV should be sold this summer. It hard to see him with a future here - already well behind Foyth and Sanchez.

LB: Rose, Davies

If Rose is fit, he is one of the best. And, Davies is not terrible as a back-up. Given some of the other holes in the squad that need freshening, I think we will stick here. Maybe we take a punt on Sessegnon when Fulham get relegated, but I am not sure if he is really a LB at this stage.

DM: Dier, Wanyama

We could/should see a new DM in this summer. Wanyama is a shell of his former self, and DIer is a CB playing DM. As Dier ages, and loses his limited agility, he will need to move deeper in the line-up.

CM: Winks, Sissoko, Skipp (Onomah)

I think Poch's preferred formation matters here, whether we have a CM3 or CM2. But, I think this is our biggest need - a strong B2B CM who can help move the ball from the defense to the attacking third, and can also contribute a few goals. I think Winks is fine in a CM3, but he stuggles more in a CM2. Sissoko has obviously been a revelation this year - but he is not young. We should be bringing in a top CM.

AMs/Wingers: Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lucas, Lamela (GKN, Edwards)

Eriksen will be testing our limits this summer, if he does not sign an extension. We can't go into the season with him on his last year - this will have to be resolved one way or the other. Obviously, if he goes, that should add a chunk of money to the budget - and we will need it to find a replacement. Dele and Son are sure to be here next summer - but I could see us look to move Lucas and/or Lamela. I'd prefer to keep Lucas - I think he gives us more options, and is healthier/more consistent than Lamela. I think we will need to bring in 2 players here - assuming Eriksen leaves.

Striker: Kane, Llorente, Janssen, Parrott

Llorente will be gone. Janssen has a couple of months now to prove his worth in training, and maybe a few matches. Parrott might be a bench option next year for the Domestic Cup matches. We will need to find someone for the back-up striker role. Hopefully, it can be a top player who can also compete for minutes as an AM.

This will be a very challenging summer - we have more "holes" than a club competing for CL spots should have - but that is why it si so important to refresh 1-2 players every summer, so you are not left with needing to make a lot of changes at one time

Out: Vorm, Trippier/Aurier, Wanyama, Eriksen, Llorente, Janssen
Maybe: Alderweiereld, Lamela

So that is 8 players, on top of Dembele this January. And, to make it worse - nothing for Vorm or Llorente, and not much for Janssen or Wanyama

IN: 3rd GK, 4th CB, DM, CM, AM, AM, S

7 in. Seems like an impossibility.

We must upgrade CM/DM
If we move Dier to CB, then we still need to bring in another CM/DM
3rd GK must be HG

If we can sign Eriksen and Alderweireld to extensions:

3rd GK, DM, CM - replace Lamela/Lucas and replace Llorente
Agree on a lot of this! Squad building happens over several windows, it's been criminal that we haven't bought anyone.
