New Ali G article on Parrott: https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/players/troy-parrott-tottenham-conte-kane-24212541

Summary:
  • Spurs are growing more excited about Parrott living up to his potential
  • His family came out to MK to live with him last season which is believed to have been a big help
  • Parrott is very keen on breaking through at Tottenham
  • The current plan is for him to spend one more season out on loan in the Championship, with Swans Boro Preston and QPR all interested, and hopefully join the senior team the following season
Happy that he has matured a bit. Really hoping that he gets a good loan and gains more confidence. If he came good it would save us millions to spend on other areas of need.

Can't help but wonder if this plan is part of the reason we are only currently being linked to versatile attacking players like Richarlison rather than any out and out strikers.

Personally, I'd like our sixth forward option to be someone from the academy.
I agree, but assuming he goes back out on loan, do we think one of Scarlett or Etete sticks around for 1st part of the season at least? Scarlett probably needs game time now and Etete did well enough last season that he would probably want some game time too.

Kane, Son, Kulu, Lucas, Richarlison (?), Scarlett/Etete

It's not just him, we seem to have 3 top top talents at CF right now (Scarlett, Donley and Parrott), and a 4th one who while not a top talent has a fair chance of breaking through (Etete). It's insane the talent at youth level we have at CF.

Because of the talent we have in the position, Parrott's age and the nature of just how difficult it is to break through at the top level. Parrott probably has no more than a 10% chance of making it here. But with the end of last season and a good international break he has really given himself a fighting chance.

We have Perisic who will and can play there as an option, and it looks like we will have Eriksen who will be competing for one of those positions too (whether as a wide N.10 or in a midfield three we don't know yet) with Richarlison we are more than covered in that position.

With more subs available it would be nice to not loan out all our young talents though. I think every decision on this should come after preseason.

This bit from the MK Dons manager is what leads me to believe that he'll impress Conte this pre-season and force the coaching staff to include him in their plans for the upcoming season.

The improved work rate has been the biggest addition to Parrott's skill, with his MK Dons boss Liam Manning saying towards the end of the season: "[Troy] has progressively got better. He's desperate to score, but he puts the team first. He needs to keep pushing himself, but the biggest thing is what he does for the team. His work-rate out of possession, his threats, his movement - he's in a good spot and we have to keep him there, keep pushing him and making sure he maintains his level."

I can only imagine he'll be buzzing to impress during pre-season.

fair play. coming off a decent season, and obviously has the desire and motivation to push on next year. i'm not sure he'll be ready for us next season, but I hope he does at some point.

I think he could provide an equal output this season to Lucas with the right preseason and tactical adaptation.

If we bring in Eriksen and Richarlison, I'd keep Parrott in the squad.

Question: Is Scarlett considered club trained now? because that may determine if he goes on loan or stays

Yes, Scarlett is now classed as club trained HG.

Parrott is 6 months away from being classed as Club Trained.

From wiki

'In July 2017, Parrott joined Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee'

'On 1 August 2020, Parrott joined Championship side Millwall on a season-long loan'

I think we turned down a loan in January 2019 so he hit the 3 seasons.

Parrott joined 4th February 2018, as he was unable to join until he turned 16, as he lived in Ireland.

Thinking out loud, despite playing for the U18s between Feb and July, he officially signed a pro deal in July 18 and as he arrived outside the January window, it might actually be a full year he needs to complete to get Club Trained in the eyes of UEFA.

If he needs a full season he won't be club trained as he will be 21 in February

If he stays here next season he will count as Club Trained.

You have to complete 3 seasons before the end of the season in which you turn 21, not your 21st birthday.

I'm not sure on that.
I always thought it was done on birthdays.

A homegrown player in the EPL is any player, regardless of nationality, who has been registered with any club associated with the English or Welsh FA for at least 3 years before reaching 21 years old.

UEFA's wording:

A "club-trained player" is a player who, between the age of 15 (or the start of the season during which he turns 15) and 21 (or the end of the season during which he turns 21), and irrespective of his nationality and age, has been registered with his current club for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons (i.e. a period starting with the first official match of the relevant national championship and ending with the last official match of that relevant national championship) or of 36 months.
