Maybe.

but it’s not a great story or a fairytale.

They are a great football team. Built on billions spent, to aid their sportswashing effort, and FFP breaches. They are not a great story.
That’s why it’s time to mute football media for the summer. We won’t hear the end of this.

I do t blame the City players, or even their fans for being happy about it, like people have said we’d love to win this stuff.

But these commentators, fucking he’ll guys can you hear yourselves?

I’ve turned it off. Fuck listening to them and watching the celebrations. Our defeat is still too painful.

Only good thing is that it has stopped Liverpool becoming the dominant force in England again and obviously the arse from winning the league this year but honestly anything and I mean anything that City win mean’s absolutely nothing.

Quite sad really. My hatred for Inter is huge so I can't stomach seeing them win, but the money doping teams are just another level of cancer to this sport. There's no intergity there. We're celebrating the death of this sport when we cheer on the likes of City, Chelsea and PSG.
I have no problem with rich clubs or money doped clubs winning football matches and buying all the best players. It's part of the food chain that we're closer to the top than the bottom and should do well to remember.

What I can't abide by or accept is setting up FFP rules and then not applying sanctions to clubs that continuously break them. It's the breaking the rules to get special sponsorship deals. They would be sponsoring their own turds if they thought UEFA would accept that. That is reprehensible

I will probably get crap for this and so be it.. but Chelsea just showed you can spend as much as you want but if you don't spend it right it doesn't work.

You think they don't matter to the players then look at Grealish right now. He can't even speak.

To say these will be meaningless to players is nonsense. They still work their asses off all year to get to this point.
He's barely intelligible on a good day

Yeah I can only assume that's what he meant. Makes zero sense otherwise.

Was still perhaps the greatest deluge of faux-emotional bollocks I've ever heard come out of a commentators mouth though.. the fucking Noel Gallagher stuff... ugh.

Makes even Matterface look good in comparison and that's really saying something
Even then, I think I'd take Spurs scoring twice in stoppage time on the final day to snatch the title from Arsenal for the first time in most of our lifetimes, but that's just me.

I genuinely don't know if I would. There's no good billionaires but when you *know* the only reason your club has the means to win is to distract from mass human rights violations...that's a hard thing to ignore.

I hate to be that guy but there is honestly way way worse things happening behind closed doors within the elite circles than what's happened in Qatar but evil is evil and I'm not trying to take away from that.

Thing is, outside of the UK, most people don't even know about the sports-washing controversy or the atrocities happening behind the scenes.

Worst thing about watching the game tonight other than the gushing praise for City has been Darren Fletchers vomit inducing commentary.

He is normally bad but tonight he took it to a whole new level of awful.

But you can’t put the controversies aside.

that’s how sportswashing works.

In theory you shouldn't but outside of true football fan circles most common fans don't know or don't understand it anyway so they ignorantly put them aside without even knowing it.

That's who the media and commentary panders too unfortunately, and not the smaller more informed groups of fans like us.

You can spend all the money you like but you still have to put the work in. You can't just walk on the pitch and coast for 90 minutes every week.

Before the game I genuinely wasn’t that bothered if they won ( I’m surprised it’s taken them this long to win it tbh and they are a superb team despite the cheat code), but the more I listened to the commentary the more desperately I wanted Inter to win.
