Yeah this sounds fucked up. Basically local gangs lying in wait with weapons, ambushing fans with machetes and the police letting them get on with it while they teargassed children instead.
Especially if they're from England. I'm not sure how they'd treat people from the Celtic nations.Ahh the French police have been tear gassing & pepper spraying their own citizens including children and OAP's for the past 4 years they're not going to have any qualms about doing so to football supporters, especially from UK.
Fingers crossed! IMO one of the greatest sides was Fergies treble winners and Liverscum are no where near that side - take klopp away and they’ll soon drop.So the side that many people have spaffed over being “the greatest English side ever” finish the season as runners up in the league and have had to rely on penalties to win the FA cup and League cup because they failed to score a single goal in any of the three finals they were involved in. Greatest my arse. Hopefully that’s them done now.
Fake tickets is going to be the official line doubt anyone will get any compensation just promises about future events. As the CL tickets have a QR code and assume the turnstiles open with the code how did the fakes work.
Might have missed them but not heard of these sort of problems when Rugby has been held at Stade de France ,which it has been for years.
Champions League final: France blames 'massive' ticket fraud as policing row rages
Chaotic scenes outside Saturday's Champions League final saw Liverpool fans pepper sprayed by police.www.bbc.co.uk
The fake ticket thing sounds like bollocks to me. There are loads of stories of people who had legit tickets who were told they had fakes as soon as the scanner didnt work. Even Robertson was saying after the game that his family/friends were told the same even though they got their tickets from him. I've no doubt there were some fake tickets going about, but more likely to me is that the system for scanning the tickets wasn't working properly and the stewards just immediately started throwing accusations about and it's a convenient excuse to fall back on
Even if we for arguments sake assume that there were an overwhelming number of fake tickets, that still doesn't excuse the dangerously incompetent route planning and crowd management, and even less so the massive overreaction from the riot police. Let's be honest regardless of what may or may not have led to the situation, indescriminantly teargassing and charging a crowd of men, women, and children of all ages who are penned into a confined space is just inexcusable.
No doubt UEFA will conduct a complete and thorough enquiry before determining that all official protocols were followed and no wrongdoing occurred and brush it all under the carpet while blaming the "drunken yob" English hooligans.
I’m not sure the wheels are coming off but loosing Mane and Salah starting to age will damage them massively. One can’t overestimate how good those two have been over the last few seasons. It’s not going to be that’s easy to replace them. Diaz looks a good it’s true, but not on that level yet.
And people can say EXACTLY the same about Kane and Son.
Reading more about what happened it certainly doesn’t make me want to watch a football match in France any time soon. This sort of thing has happened before. I remember United fans getting a pasting from the Roman old bill, Spurs at Sevilla springs to mind, City fans have got a few beatings by the old bill in Spain too, France has a rep with their old bill and English fans as well.
It seems we live on this old reputation, it doesn't help that our media make out its still bad at times when its one of the safest countries in Europe to watch a match.
I'm sort of glad this happened to Liverpool (hear me out) because their fans won't give up, while the likes of us, United, City etc have fallen on deaf ears, Liverpool fans aren't the sort of fans to let things slide. The last time the authorities blamed ticklet-less fans and hooliganism that backfired tremendously, they went on a twenty year rampage to clear their name.
Its about time the English fan can go abroad and be safe from hooligans and the the police brutality.
If the Scousers can cause an uproar I'm all for it. It makes me nervous when Spurs fans travel abroad and having to worry they'll get home in one piece.
