Today:
Zenit - Villareal
Galatasaray - Leverkusen
AEK - Getafe
Brann - Everton
Bremen - Braga
Marseille - Spartak
PSV - Helsingborg
Anderlecht - Bordeaux
Rangers - Panathinaikos
Sporting - Basel

Tomorrow:
Aberdeen - Bayern
Zürich - Hamburg
Roseborg - Fiorentina
Slavia - Spurs
Bolton - Athletico
Benfica - Nürnberg

Having lived in Bergen for 12 years I really hope Brann can do me proud and kick the bollocks out of Everton tonight (an injury or two would do well for Spurs as well ).
They drew 1-1 with Liverpool at home 10 years ago in the Cup Winners Cup (lost 3-0 at Anfield) and are a much, much stronger side now, crowned League Champions in Norway for the first time in 44 years. Having said that, they haven't played a competitive match since the draw with Basel in the Group stage that got them through and that might of course be a problem, despite playing friendlies against top Norwegian, Swedish and Russian teams building up to this.

Would also be pleased if Rosenborg could get something from Fiorentina (despite being a Brann fan and thus wishing them hell domestically), though they are of course in the same position as Brann and haven't played competitively since the CL group stage. If by some miracle Brann and Rosenborg both go through it would be an all Norwegian contest in the last 16!

Does anyone else have a particular team they would like to see through besides Spurs?

Guess i should cheer a bit on Helsingborg then, being swedish and all...and wouldn´t that mean we´d face them in the next round if they go throu too???

Then´d bloody go down there and watch the game..

Can't think of any other than Basel, simply because Gross is their manager and he got a very raw deal here. And if their games against Boro two years ago are anything to go by they play very attractive football.

It wouldn't surprise me if Rosenborg beat Fiorentina; turning over Valencia home and away (even though Valencia have been a disaster area) and holding the Chavs at the Bridge were no mean feats, and no fluke. And I really hope Brann do the business on Everton.

Some very hard games to predict there.

Looking at that, only competition we've got is Bayern and possibly Ath. Madrid.

COYS!!!

Not Villareal, then? And our aggregate league score against Everton this season is?

There are some tough cookies in there. Although Fiorentina didn't exactly pull up trees in the group stage it would be foolish in the extreme to underestimate them. PSV dumped the Arse out of the CL last year, and Sporting and Benfica are no pushovers.

Bordeaux and Bremen would worry me as well. Bordeaux are right behind Lyon this season and Bremen have Diego who is awsome.

Honestly, I don't think there is a team there we can't beat. We'd have our work cut out against teams like Athletico, Rangers and Bayern, but I think we have a big chance.

And they're off!

Zenit one up against Villareal in St. Petersburg. Another side not to be dismissed lightly.

Anyone know why the Everton shirts have no sponsors logo on the front tonight?

Watched the 2nd half, Brann were pretty poor I thought, made Everton look better.
