Maybe I'm romanticising our previous years in the EL but it does seem tougher back then, maybe we just didn't make the most of it.
We lost to teams like Basel and Genk, we absolutely did not make the most of it.

The only time I remember us going out to a really good side was Sevilla around 2007/8, who went on to win it. And all things being fair we should've won that as well as we were monumentally screwed over in that tie.

That was a young Salah wasn't it?

He scored the first goal of the second leg, just looking those games up now, 2-2 both legs and 4-1 loss on pens, Hudds and Adebeyor missed.

*Salah also scored the goal for Fiorentina that knocked us out in 2014/15..

The Premier League is surely in the drivers seat now for 2nd. We'll see if the QF draw throws in any big match-ups like Arsenal/Bayern or Leverkusen/England

We didn’t. Poch instilled in them a disdain for all competitions except the PL and CL.
We always (frustratingly) matched the tempo of our opponents rather than imposing our Premier League intensity / pace on them.

You can always see as soon as Prem teams step up that intensity teams from outside Germany & Spain just struggle to handle it

Bad draws for chances of 5th for English teams. Dortmund get one of the only ties I think they have a chance in, tough draws for the English teams (although will be cheering on Harry and co of course) in the CL.

leverkusen West Ham was a bad draw too - wanted leverkusen to get Liverpool who would knock them out. Now you’d expect leverkusen to reach the final

No way athletico don't beat dortmund. We may laugh but wer ham will give them a great game

Also doubt leverkusen would have wanted west ham

If it's not Liverpool v Leverkusen in the final as a job interview for Alonso I'll be surprised.

Yesterday: West Ham - Freiburg is like a final who will get the last extra CL spot next season.

Today: West-Ham - Leverkusen is like a final who will get the last extra CL spot next season.

Leverkusen vs West ham! Wow

Winner should cement 5th spot
According to West Ham fans they should be able to dismantle this lot, after all haven't they been claiming that they are World Cup winners after beating a West German national team over 120 mins with only 3 players and no goalkeeper so 11 against this German side should be a walk in the park according to their logic and let's not forget more recently they also reckon they're massive and now they are also all conquering Champions of Europe so they should have no trouble progressing 😉😉.....
