The fact that walker gets caught out positionally and recovers 9/10 times doesnt make him a bad defender imo. it just makes him someone know knows he's fast enough to get back. you all make it seem like something is wrong with using your natural ability to help do your job and that is baffling. on the attacking front he's given us the width we so desperately needed and we're looking much better now. that is mostly down to walker's willingness to get upfield. sometimes i really have to wonder what you people realistically want out of a group of players.....

I think the team looks better balanced with Walker in the side, he is prone to errors but his physical attributes serve the team well. He is a good Premiership right back but he is never going to be top class imo, we can do better but at the moment he is the best we have so we may as well support him.

Walker should always play home games in my opinion and his defensive weaknesses are less tested. Same with Rose on the otherside.

He was by far our best player at the weekend. Good to have him back.

He got down the flank a lot more, meaning the system could work and our inverted wingers didn't have to deal with an opposing DM and fullback BUT Rose was much better going forward.

The thing I don't understand about Walker is he'll rage down the line, leaving his opposing winger and fullback in his wake, then rather than get down to the line and cross the ball in, he'll stop, look around and 8 times out of ten, pass it backwards because everyone's caught up with him.

Thinking is for defending, speed is for attacking, NOT vice versa Kyle!!

Do you not think he'd be better off by learning how to eliminate those mistakes in the first place? There's nothing wrong with using his physical ability to do his job, because using hi physical ability *is* part of his job. But you make it seem like using one's head is an unnecessary part of being the best footballer one can be.

Do you think Walker will still be able to use his speed like that in three, four, five years? Would he not be better off learning to read the game more effectively now so that, when the inevitable time comes when his pace lets him down, he can still be a very good RB?

Again...I'm not saying that I think he's a poor player. I think he's very good and his return to the team has given us balance. But he has some glaring weaknesses in his game, and there's nothing wrong with discussing them.

I agree that he has weaknesses, but IMO the weaknesses you described arent really problems just yet, and i agree they will be as he gets older, but as you said he has three to five years to get there however some people on here are saying he will never improve. Im not directing this at you but i want to use the opportunity to make the point that footballers are people too. they can change, grow, and adapt. Too many people pigeon-hole them and in my honest opinion dont respect the fact that they're human.

Fair enough, and I agree.

I do like the way Chiriches bypasses the midfield and gets early balls in to the forwards when he plays. Gets us up the field and attacking quickly.

Walker gives us better width though, and I'm not sure he's fully up to speed yet.

Horses for courses. I'd keep both.

so true - i literally cant remember the last time i saw him go down the line and cross the ball. My guess is that hes told not to as part of the possession game we're trying to play?? Either way its driving me nuts watching it

He does do some stupid things. He always has and he always will

Most if in all of our defenders do as well

The big difference is he's stronger and quicker than any of the others so can generally overcome his mistakes. Very few attacks come down our right. Teams will always target our weaker side with both Rose and Davies who cannot match up to Walker

If we come up against a very quick player we are in big big trouble down our left. This is not the case v Karl Walker. Very few in world football will beat him for pace

the thing is when walker does make a mistake, it more often than not results in conceding a goal

Don't agree. He made about 10 mistakes last night and we kept a clean sheet

Anyway it obvious because probably 90% of the time, if not more, it's defenders and keepers mistakes that result in goals. That's just the nature of football

Another player that divides opinion.

For me I think hes poor. He is an excellent athlete but has no footballing brain. Constantly out of position and is pace get s him out of trouble time and time again. Always prone to giving away a free kick in dangerous positions needlessly and I always feel nervous if he comes up against decent oposition.

Going forward he is very poor and his crossing is absolutely dreadful.

It actually amazes me sometimes how he has actualy made it at the top level and is considered for England.

Just my opinion. For me the sooner Yedlin gets in to the side the better.

Know I am in the minority..

You actually think Yedlin is better than Walker :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:???

So what if his pace gets him out of trouble? At least it works.

I think Yedlin has the potential to be better than Walker. He showed internationally that he's mustard at tracking and defending and that pace is frightening.

But like Walker, he has brain farts.

Ideally we'd have a Corluka for certain games. An intelligent footballer that martials his space.
