I was sat diagonally opposite the Shelf Side corner with Park Lane at the weekend, up at the northern end of the West Stand. And I enjoyed the competitive chanting of "We're the Shelf side" and "We're the Park Lane" etc. And I was wondering how cool it would be if the folk behind the goal at the Paxton Road end were to start singing "We're the wheelchairs, we're the wheelchairs, we're the wheelchairs Tottenham". Hope I don't get flamed for this, but it keeps on rattling around in my head.

Yeah I know I know I know, got a doh and a WTF but I do have handicapped relatives and I would say this to them - it's the sort of thing the one of them that I'm thinking of would even come up with himself - perhaps this isn't the right place or the right time though, so my apologies if anyone takes offence. Mods delete if you see fit.

I shouldn't of laughed but I did chuckle, firstly why did you think of this and secondly why did you think this was a good idea to post - Hoping it would take off maybe?

It's also the timing of the thread too, was he having trouble sleeping as he wanted to find out the general SC consensus of this question or did he wake up, rush to his PC after having a dream that it actually happened?

P.S. I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was slightly funny too.

No Omar, not the case. But maybe something like this is OK to say but loses its legitimacy once in a public forum. I mean, for example I made a joke once about my mother, who had alzheimers, but I made it within the family and it was contained in context. But yeah I can see that something like this gives people the opportunity to join in in a vindictive way; and I'm not referring to the people who have reprimanded me. My nephew, who is the person I was thinking of, has been at the wrong end of some pretty horrible nastiness at times because of his condition and I could almost hear him saying it - that's what prompted me and I just wanted to share it.

My next thought as a I looked around was starting up a chant that said "we're the old ****s we're the old ****s we're the old ****s Tottenham", and I really did think that too.

Firstly, I'm pretty sure all of us here are very sorry to hear about the nastiness that your nephew has received from mindless idiots, but what you have to realise there could be people in the same situation that you are in the same boat as yourself who have relatives that are disabled and would have therefore taken massive offense to your original post. You got to be very careful how you post on the forums as things can easily be misconstrued even though it is clear now that it wasn't meant to be in any way disrespectful.

Not about the OP but this chant does bother me. Having sat in the Paxton end for years. You don't get a chance to join in (however quietly). Park lane.. Shelf ... Park lane... shelf...etc...

Then about 10 games in someone in the park lane will come up of comment that Paxton don't join in.

To get this chant to work around the stadium the park lane need to give a space in between as the few people that do join in this chant in the Paxton sing at the same time as the shelf. Of course the park lane end won't hear this as the shelf is much closer.
