Here's a new thread for this as the other one was getting far too messy. I tried to clean it up but it very quickly became obvious it would have taken far more time than I have, so apologies to the original thread starter and anyone who contributed sensibly.

A quite sensible post from KUMB, it’s been up 24hrs and no one has shot him down yet.

Which three teams

Do you consider the most likely to improve on the position they reached at the end of last season?

    &

Which 3, at the closing of the window, of the 17 remaining from that time, will definitely slide away, at least a few placings?

I hate to say this, but I think Spurs are outside bets for the title.

I back Everton to finish higher, and
    Villa.

The penny is starting to drop on how strong our squad is. Now it's down to Jose and the lads to make it count. Exciting season ahead.

Notr hugely about Spurs but a few references to us in there. I just love the dark humour on their site

You are only allowed to post positive thoughts for the coming season in this thread

The season might not turn out to be as bad as we all know it's going to be.
:(

I now have lots of spare time on Saturdays

Just had a little chuckle to myself when thinking back to five years ago thinking "we might rub shoulders with the big boys here" and now I am reading a thread titled "would we be better of being relegated"

GSB won't live forever. Oh wait... Forgot about those pesky kids.

Out of the bottom 3 after Southampton beaten 2-5 by Tottenham .
:D
:scarfer:

My first reaction when spurs scored a fourth, normally I'd be crying

I back Everton to finish higher, and Villa.
Sheff United need to pull out of a nosedive plunge and cannot hope to replicate the shock of the new, two times around.
Palace will be relegated. Leicester will spend only a few more weeks in top 4 contention.

Three who will improve on last season's positions - West Ham , Aston Villa and Tottenham .
Three who will do worse - Wolves , Sheffield United and Burnley .

Solskjaer looks like a man who knows his fate

I bet Mourinho is loving that result

Man U supporters on twitter are sorting a petition to reopen Maguires case

Red Cafe: Mourinho Thread

There's some regret. Was Mourinho the man for them?

Jose was the man to be the voice of the supporters here. He was calling out Woodward and trying to make his position uncomfortable, yet fans stuck the knife in, instead siding with the likes of Pogba and Martial. I said at the time that I felt Jose was right about it all, the guy was the only thing associated with the club that knew what success looked like. We should have supported him and we might have seen some action at the top of the club.

There's some envy. Could Mourinho be the man for us?

Agree 100%. I fully expect Spurs to finish above United this season. Jose is happy, settled, has a great relationship with the board and the owner. It's showing.

Levy is actually opening the purse strings and backing Jose's targets, or that is how it seems from an outsider looking in. Doherty, Reguilon, Bale, Vinicius, Hojbjerg. Just needs a CB now.

The Newcastle game was stolen from them, and they've had a very busy schedule with the Europa League. I'm starting to see a bit of counterattacking like when he was in Madrid. Make no mistake, with quality players Jose will do well.

And some dark humour. Is Mourinho really all he's cracked up to be?

Meh, racks up goal tally against shit teams

A*senal fans talking about top6 in transfer window in A*semania... (y)

Really think this thread is not even worth the question anymore, it's obviously Chelsea and Sp**s.They have improved their first team eleven massively whilst others have improved their depth. Depth is important too, but clearly secondary.

I think Sp**s have had the best window by a mile. There is a feel good factor in the club and I put them favourites for top 4 after liverpool and city. Sadly I think United and Arsenal will miss out again this season.

I'd judge it on what teams actually needed and then the level of player they signed for that position. With all things considered you'd have to say Chelsea, Sp**s, Everton, Liverpool and Arsenal won the window this year. Villa, Newcastle and Wolves honorable mentions.

Think Sp**s have probably had the best window.Everton will fall apart and not impressed by anything Chelsea have done.

My rankings:
1. Chelsea 2. Liverpool 3. Sp**s. 4. Arsenal 5. City. 6. United

Sp**s signed Doherty, Hojbjerg, Bale, Reguillon, Vinicius on loan and Joe Hart. Sp**s needed striker depth (check), better quality on the right (check), a better left back (check), a right back (check) a decent midfielder (unsure) and they also needed a CB badly which they failed with. I think Sp**s have done good business. On top of Ndombelly getting his act together and Kane/Son doing an absolute madness I worry about Sp**s. With the way things are going they look like the strongest team in the league. I'd give Sp**s window a 8/10. Skriniar would've pushed that to a 10/10.

The best bit is how they their opinions change over the course of the game. And the complaints about the commentating too

Man Utd win 3 - 0. Mourinho should be going there and winning but he'll play for a 0-0 and fail miserably.

Actually fancy Spurs here.

1-3 Spurs.

Eric Dier is in the toilet again. Or "Old Trafford" as I prefer to call it.

Local referee Anthony Taylor points to the spot after 30 seconds. Not a lot in that really.

That didn't take long did it
::)

Spurs are useless.

Spurs are shite.

They’re gonna smash last season’s penalty record with games to spare.

Guess it's good for the "neutral", means spurs can't sit back. 1-1

Not even surprised, every team starts one down against Penalty Utd - hahaha fucking fridge

Maguire is a comedy genius
;D

Shouldnt that be a pen with Maguire fouling Shaw.

1-2

Spurs would be ruined without Son.

And that smile on Son's face is priceless.

Can Cavani play at centre back?

Neville is a disgrace.

Biased c*nts the pair of these

Any chance we can sign Son before the deadline?

Expecting a fight and red cards at some point from this

Spurs could fill their boots here. Son, Aurier and Lamela all with good chances within the space of about a minute.

How is Lamela so shite?

Red card for Urkel. Tee hee

Absolutely dumb from Martial.

What a joke of a card

Lamela can count himself lucky mind, equally as petulant.

He’s made the most of that, but it’s United so fuck it.

That's shit. Lamela is a rat. I've always hated him.

1-3 Kane

Lamela's just seems like normal jostling in the box, Martial's is quite obviously a deliberate slap. Neville couldn't sound any more desperate.

United have fallen so far even the refs dont help them anymore.

Are Tyler and Neville actually crying ?

Is neville blaming that 3rd goal on being down to 10?

Baille raked his studs on Kane there, lucky

Oh this is just sad now. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAH

mou trying to keep a straight face. this week is entertaining isnt it. hopefully business as usual for us and the blue moon/red cafe meltdown will be quite a chuckle.

You have had your fun now Spurs, stop it. We don't want Ole getting the bullet.

If this was Arsenal getting battered. Neville wouldve questioned the players professionalism and called the club a disgrace.... Lets see

IMAGINE GETTING HUMILIATED BY TOTTENHAM
:lmao
:lmao

I honestly don't think commentators should be able to commentate on games that they are fans of. Theres club channels for that. This is unfair to Tottenham as a club. They deserve to be enjoying this not listening to them talk about fucking Manchester United.

Must be sweet revenge for Spurs fans after years of "Lads, it's Tottenham" because of Fergie

Strong chance that Mourinho's biggest ever league win at Old Trafford will be two years after they sacked him :)

United fans whining about Lamela like they’ve never heard of Van Nistelrooy, Berbatov, Rooney, Young and half the current side before.

Don't count Utd out yet, they will concede a few more.

And there’s 5

No it isn't. I'd be ashamed if one if our players acted like Lamela.

You know your time's up when Aurier scores
:o

Pogba should be off there.

They're just trying to get sent off now.

HAHAHA Pogba finally tackles someone. But it's a hack in the penalty area
;D

How did Shaw not go there ?

Pathetic refereeing

Tyler comforting himself in the belief that Villa are going to beat Liverpool later.

The last comment is brilliantly prophetic :ROFLMAO:

Is Spurs a censored word on Arsemania? :ROFLMAO:
I think either it is, or they think there's a five-letter expletive / insult that begins with 'Sp' and ends in 's' that they believe using 'Sp**s' will somehow conflate us with the word. For the life of me, I can't think of an expletive that matches that.

It can't be because they're all thi-

Aaaah.

Just had a look - a new thread on Redcafe:

?‍♂️

I was actually wondering if Bale still has it. I only say this as I've not really followed football for about a year and am not sure how Bale has performed or how his injury record has been. Is Bale still world-class or are we just all romantics at heart?

Christ, they're delusional! If Cavani was even close to Bale right now, how come he's been without a club since the end of June?

And, on top of all that, what on Earth are Man U doing signing a forward? If the collective cum-fest the media engage in over Rashford and Greenwood has any basis in reality, why do they need more 'firepower' up front? I'm utterly gobsmacked that after the dismantling on Sunday they still pushed ahead with the Cavani signing when it's obvious they need defenders. Then again, I don't think OGS even has the ability to set up a defence, so even if they bought some, he wouldn't know what to do with them...

Couple of weeks ago there was a debate there whether Martial was better than Kane.

God almighty!
I've seen Utd fans say that a few times over the years. Has a "higher ceiling" apparently.

They just don't get it. Martial might score the odd wondergoal after a mazy run that Kane couldn't do, but Kane is clearly twice the footballer Martial is.

He's still got it and now, he's hungrier than he's been in a long while.
He's going to be playing in a great team and with a smile on his face, it's gonna be good.

I think we'll see that he's still world class. Can't really judge him for the last 2 or 3 seasons because he's been neglected and miserable at Madrid. His CL final goal is an example of what he does when motivated to prove a point, though.
