People keep saying the fight for fourth is weak. If anything it has been more competitive due to the premier league being stronger overall. I can imagine once Newcastle/Villa/West Ham maybe get involved and the points total would be even lower.
It's just not even accurate. The points total this season is relatively high compared to previous years and slightly higher than average when taking the last 20 years into account.

There is just no truth in the claim whatsoever. This season has actually seen a strengthened top 5 and a midtable squeeze. Only 7 teams have a positive goal difference (10 last year) and only 7 teams have won more than they've lost (11 last year).

Having said that, the table is such a poor indicator of whether the top teams are weak or not. Because, as you mention how competitive the league is counts.

But also other things, if you have a completely useless team bottom, take Derby that's basically inflating the league average by 4/5 points. Meanwhile, if you have a team who is very defensive and good at drawing games even if they rarely win that will take 2-4 points from most teams. Both of these situations don't indicate the relative strength of the league but can have a significant impact on overall points totals that can give the wrong impression regarding league strength and team strength if you believe points give an indication of ability.

I found the whole AVB got 71 points as something to prove that he was doing well annoying for that reason. Because it doesn't mean anything.

Yep. Average points total needed across every PL season has been 69 to secure top 4.

Funny because I would have Saka in the first team but at wing back. That's the trouble with these questions about who you have in your team or combined best 11 though. What formation do you pick? Some players will fit one manager and system better than another. Of course arsenal have good players otherwise they wouldnt be chasing top 4 but I really don't care who could get in our squad. They're all ****s because they play for the scum.

It is amazing how many oppo fans think we're a two man team and the rest are mid table at best
That's a world cup winning captain, the highly rated Romero, plus Kulu, Bentancur Davies Dier all experienced internationals.
Our back three with Sanchez or Romero is quality, hardly conceding at all recently. Five goals over the past ten games?
0.5 a game, max 1 per game.
Add in a transformed Doherty and Skipp to return...
We've easily got the 4th best squad in the country but oppo fans refuse to see it
Do I care, no. Does it make me laugh and think how stupid and deluded they are, oh yes ???

Ty has resurfaced, and you guessed it, he’s blaming the ref. Not for the Tottenham game, but for Newcastle! (from 8:15). The dictionary definition of deluded:

I think we all know there's something not quite right about the walking club shop that is Ty!

He's still been around. Been posted in the Arsenal thread in General Football. His interview after our game Thursday... ??‍♂️

It’s rumored that it’s his nickname, as he couldn’t tie his shoe laces. I think his velcro Arsenal running shoes, might add fuel to the fire.

Arsenal fan on AFTV here talking about how the postponement of the NLD earlier backfired. These three are actually alright, three of the more level-headed people on that channel for sure.

I love this as well. If spurs beat Norwich they will finish on 71 points. 69 points got 3rd last year. 66 points got 3rd the year before that. The year before that Spurs came 4th with 71 points and arsenal 5th with 70 - almost exactly what will happen if both win this week. (Edit thanks Norgie for pointing out arsenal can only get 69)

People keep making out its a weak year for CL qualification and it just isn’t backed up by the facts. I did love the Wolves underperforming reference - I mean, who didn’t have wolves down for at least 72 points?????
Yeah and West Ham have been overperforming while arsenal have more points than they got last season. The only ones who you could say have dropped off a lot are Utd after finishing 2nd last season but even then they overachieved really. We have more points than Chelsea had last season to finish 4th and can finish on more than Liverpool did when they finished 3rd.

Easily the 4th best squad in the country, yet you still shit your cacks for every upcoming fixture.

I know Spurs will have fans that are just as big cocks as Ty but thank fuck they aren't on YouTube making us look like *****. I'm amazed he has been given a shoeing by Arsenal fans.

That was a surprisingly good conversation. I did not expect that from AFTV.
