Am I oversensitive for thinking "Kimchee Messi" is derogatory?
I don't see it as derogatory.

it's another variant of The Romford Pele etc. Lots of football pages use comparisons just like that.

but then again i ain't from S.Korea so my opinion means fuck all.

imagine if that tackle was on their beloved Salah but he actually broke his leg. I wonder if they'd feel the same
They all went ballistic when Pickford crocked Dick Van Dyke. That was unintentional, and it should have been a red, pretty sure there was a petition for him to be banned as long as Quincy MD was injured too.

From a poster on Redcafe

Last season Liverpool dumped Wolves out of the FA cup because Wolves had a last minute winning goal disallowed for a phantom offside that VAR refused to check. This was in the same game the rules mysteriously changed to allow Salah to score when he WAS offside.

We've had a goal disallowed where the VAR literally drew an s shaped offside line on the screen and a player sent off by VAR for being slapped by their opponent. Sheffield United (I think) got relegated on the back of scoring a goal that VAR wouldn't check whether it crossed the line or not. Palace lost a game to Liverpool on the back of the referee correctly ignoring a dive only for VAR to overule him and award a penalty. City lost to us last season because Rashford was about a mile offside. These are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

How was this any worse or even as bad as most of these? Just because Tottenham won?

From the same poster

didn't even think it was the worst one this season. It's a close call and it does look offside in real time. The issue is the lack of lines being drawn but that's not as bad as deliberately not drawing them straight or pretending all the cameras stopped working, both of which are things that have happened in this country and not been condemned. Onana literally got away with full force punching someone in the head on the opening weekend. I get that offside is factual but so is whether punching an opponent in the head is a foul.

The match report on the BBC is embarrassing too. Its written as if Liverpool put in the most heroic performance in the history of football. Having two players sent off in the same game due to your own indiscipline and then losing as a result isn't anything to be proud of, and definitely doesn't constitute having "it". The Jota one is about the most braindead thing you'll see all season.
The match report on the BBC is embarrassing too.

This is definitely true. I couldn't believe this line by Phil McNulty: "This was a bad day for Liverpool, through no fault of their own - and a dreadful one for the PGMOL."

Through no fault of their own?! Is he suggesting being down to nine men was no fault of their own? For sure you can argue Jota's first yellow was soft but there have literally been dozens of soft yellow cards this season and the player hasn't been stupid enough to lunge in on a player afterwards.

They went ballistic over skipps foul last season, which wasn't as bad, but still could've been a red.

It's definitely got racists vibes....If he had been called Chuncheon Messi, then that would be the equivalent of Romford Pele, but using a native food to describe him is racist in my book.

Yeah like i said i'm not the rule on it but i see it a lot around football pages "the Paella Pirlo".

i think i don't necessarily see it as derogatory is because a comparison to Messi is compliment.

but then again what do i know.

Can't even risk flicking over to babestation at the moment, some scouser will be on the phone there complaining about VAR. The way it's going, I'm half expecting it to come up at PMQs on Wednesday!

Jesus fucking christ, it's like their entire world ground to a halt, all laws and rules must be changed immediately because they got butt-hurt.

Dear Liverpool,

Nobody cares, it was one unfortunate decision which last season may or may not have been offside because The FA have changed the rules and I have no idea what body parts count anymore.

Get taller, scale and conquer the obstacle... grow up & get over it, you donuts.

Nice to see the pearl-clutching over this is already subsiding a little.

Slight tangent - Pool have more reds this season than Yanited have wins.

Without going down a rabbit hole , but would egg fried rice Messi, or Curry Messi be acceptable? I would imagine not....China Messi or Indian Messi would be the appropriate way of saying it. IMO not really acceptable.

Jones puts his foot over the ball slip or not. Jota already on a yellow lunges in on Udogie. Matip scores the own goal. I do think they defended well when down to 9 packing the box, but they went down to 9 because of their own stupidity.

The BBC employing a Liverpool fan to report on their games. Excited by the result I decided to listen to the 5 live football daily podcast. Unfortunately again the BBC thought an ex Liverpool women's player would be the ideal person to give post match analysis. 1st red wasn't a red, didn't mean it, Jota didn't touch Udogie at all for 1st card & offside goal is the worst decision in the history of football. Not sure what she thought of Spurs.

For what it's worth both Sutton & Savage on 606 thought both reds were correct

Adding some fodder for your perusal.

Wolves fans in response to the Liverpool statement:

Hahaha…
Death, Taxes and Liverpool FC taking things personally.
I’m pretty sure they were alright when a similar incident happened which knocked us out the FA Cup last season which then turned out to be an Anfield issue with the camera instead.

As we know only too well, LiVARpool have benefited loads from VAR. I’d say to them at least Spurs stadium has enough ******* camera angles eh!!!!!!!!

When it hurts a bigger club. They cry about it. Yet it's happened so many times with Wolves. Nothing happens, just a sorry letter.
