they have to be blind to not see Paulinho and Soldado as improvements to our starting line-up not to mention Kaboul and Sandro/Capoue .... hell even Rose for me is improvement on BAE

yes we lost a special player in Gareth who they all said that he's shit and over-rated but we have Lamela and eriksen with huge potential

LOL@ the pool fan who said something like "what does soldado offer compared to defoe? not much". Obviously hasn't watched many Spurs or Valencia games lol.
What does Suarez offer over Andy Carroll? Not much mate.

Confident bunch over on Pink'Un, the Norwich forum.

''Points for the taking''

''They are absolutely useless in the final 3rd
We have a good record against them
Can see us picking up a draw easily.''

Spurs 0-1 Norwich - Headline "Redmond screamer stuns new look Spurs"

''Won't ba an easy game, but I'm confident a point is there fot the taking if we get all our players back fit from the international break.''

Suppose they will be confident, out of a possible 12pts since they have been back in the prem they have taken the same amount of points off of us, as we have off them 5. Also we have played them pretty early on in both seasons at home and they have taken 4 out of 6pts.

This season we have got more points than those previous seasons, but as has been mentioned in a few threads since the start, we are yet to score in open play (though Vomm did play a blinder v Swansea).

More from Arse Mania:

For all the talk about how great Erik Lamela is I wouldn't be surprised to see him sent to the benches after a while. He has pace but not a lot of strength and probably will have a hard time adapting to the premier league. Think AVB will probably have to play Lennon once he's fit because they need him for their counter attack now more than ever.

The big misconception Spurs fans have of Lamela is that he is a creative playmaker, some kind of wing genius who will link up with Soldado.

The truth is that he is quite a selfish winger. I would compare him more to Nani/Gervinho. He dribbles very well and shoots on sight. He is not going to create much for Soldado, just look at his assist stats for the last few seasons.

2010/11 - 3 Assists in 34 games, 33 starts for River Plate.
2011/12 - 6 Assists in 35 games, 29 starts for AS Roma.
2012/13 - 5 Assists in 36 games, 33 starts for AS Roma.

Compared to Walcott who for all his selfish play got 14 assists last season, and 9 in the previous two seasons each. Walcott has 32 assists compared to 14 for Lamela.

Lamela is still a fantastic player and I would take him here, but considering there is a lack of creativity in midfield already with Dembele useless in the final third and Paulinho reluctant to play a pass over 5 metres, it puts a huge amount of pressure on Eriksen to be the fulcrum. Chadli looks like another Gervinho out wide, they should have really gone that extra step and signed a guy like Ljajic who can create and dribble from the left.

If I was any opposing manager I would just get my DM to really rough up Eriksen and stifle his game, making Spurs not much of a threat. You take him out then you cut out the service to Soldado because the deep midfielders cannot pass.

Now for the fun bit. Their Erik Lamela thread in their transfer forum...

will never happen.

but its fun to dream.

It's fair to say with Wenger as manager Arsenal fans won't see any decent players sign for us let alone big names.

There is no way Spurs are a more attractive club for Lamela than we are.

- We can offer champions league football
- We can pay him more
- He'd have to fight for his place at Spurs (wut?)

My previous comment was pretty tongue in cheek but seriously, we still have far more pulling power as a club than Spurs. Whether we make use of that power is another topic of debate.

Wishing we would jump on this but lets be honest AW most probably thinks he's too expensive.

People are really getting ahead of themselves with Spurs. Forgive me if I'm missing something here but their performances in pre-season and against Crystal Palace have hardly been awe-inspiring.

They have a quality goalkeeper. No doubt about that. However:
- Their defence consists of Vertonghen, Walker, Rose and Dawson. Defensively that's akin to starting Traore-Vermaelen-Dawson-Eboue.
- Their midfield is solid and they've added depth but if people think we have problems with creativity..
- Bale is off.

Their one big improvement from last season is Soldado but even then he's hardly a world beater.

They'll finish above us if we don't add to the squad but lets not pretend they're suddenly title-contenders. They are still a long way off the likes of United/Chelsea/City,

Also the idea of working under AVB as being more attractive than working under Wenger is laughable.

He's certainly an X-factor player. I wish we'd just overpay for once and nab him quickly.

Lamela has told he's brother he wants to play for Arsenal because there in the CL and would like to work with Wenger.
This kid could be a better signing than Suarez seriously, we need to snap him up.

lamela spends a lot of time on the RW and is left footed. he likes cutting in. hes a much better dribbler than podolski and has better vision. if we did buy him id like to see theo flipped to the LW so he can cut in on his right snd lamela could cut in on hid left. but that wont happen. and we wont be buying lamela, so ignore this entire post

He is left-footed, plays on the right for Roma. But I reckon he would do well on the left as well, given some freedom to roam around.

Brilliant dribbler this guy, has skills to go past players and a very good goal scorer on top of that.

I reckon he would be brilliant if he were to come here. He has all the attributes we have been so severely lacking on the left hand side.

It all turned a bit bitter after that when he confirmed for us. :)

I don't understand how people are constantly referring to how Lloris saved us a pounding. What about when their 'keeper saved Defoe's deflected effort really well? Or when they blocked one of our shots off the line when it hit their guy's shoulder?

I don't get why some fans still bang this drum, how much strength does Walcott have? Or Rosicky? Or even Ozil? It doesn't seem to matter anymore, this league has as many technical players as it does athletes now. Bale wasn't exactly a powerhouse when he first got in our team, and Lamela has just turned 21, is 6ft+ and should still be 'filling out' physically.

Can't wait to play them again, really think they'll get a shoeing at the Lane.

Agree, also if they think about Lamela then by definition Ozil is never going to adapt, because the worst part of his game is strength and Stamina or lack of.

It's funny how people can be so non-objective about opposing teams players, making blanket statements and then not linking them to players on their own team.

For the record i think they are both superb players, it comes down to mentality more then anything, Ozil i think has it playing for Madrid he will improve Arsenal no doubt, and i also think Eric does as well as he seems he has been groomed for the big stage. Erik reminds me of a young Ronaldo and if he even reaches 50% of him we have a talent.

Strength hasnt mattered in the PL for a long, long time, it mattered when big, strong defenders dominated, but defences in England are actually quite poor nowadays. There is no one defence that is formidable, not a single one

I don't know about strength but his stamina is meant to be godly. Fittest player at Roma, supposedly.
