Regard's Tom Carroll loan

This deal was definitely surprising. I don't really know about him so if anyone who's seen him play what type of player is he?

Looks about 15.

Right someone chuck a youtube clip up so we can make a judgement please.

So this is the young midfielder who has played in Europe.

Lovely footballer watched him a few times and the only reason he hasnt got in the Spurs team is they have so many midfielders.

Reminds me a bit of Joey Allen

Young, up and coming Spurs midfielder, England U21 International, been out on loan last three seasons in lower leagues, last season at QPR.

Don't really see him starting before JJS/Ki/Siggy/Leon unless we have a major injury/suspension crisis, maybe throw him on for last ten minutes of games if we're leading 3-0.

Deep lying creative midfielder. Not sure if it shakes the first team up picture up a lot though.

Why would we want to sign a player on loan that only gets on for the last 10 mins of a game that we're leading, surely that's for bringing our own youngsters on.

Big clubs generally loan players on the understanding they get plenty of game time. No point otherwise.

Well he can always play for the under 21s if eligible if he is not picked for the 1st team.
Could he be another player to "bloom" at Swansea?

Josh McEachran Mark II?

Hopefully this is not an alternative to Stambouli as that would be disappointing.

Regards being Josh Mk 2
Let's hope not eh.

Loan signings were always the more likely, and he probably fits the profile of a neat and tidy midfielder who could fill in for the likes of Leon or Ki.

Don't know much about him, but not being 'rated' by QPR fans is surely a positive not a negative ;-) ? The only thing I have seen about him is one of those 'who will play for England in 2018 world cup' type articles, where his name was mentioned. A lot of Spurs fans up here assumed he'd be part of their plans this season, I do know that.

Monk said 2 or 3 - this is one of them, don't think it rules out Stambouli (although it does seem he is off to Fiorentina possibly) or similar. This is another option in midfield I imagine to Ki / Shelvey / Fulton etc. Given the way we play, another 'all round' type midfielder was definitely needed.

I still think we'll get a defensive midfielder (interesting that both Stambouli & Cork can also play right back) and a left back.

Maybe he is a second choice for the AM role? Or if gylfi gets injured move one of Ki/Shelvey to AM and have him as cm sub. That would mean emnes could be the 4th winger instead of AM 2nd choice. Means we would only need a 3rd choice striker, and a RB/LB (depending on what monk feels Tiendallis position would be)

Tbh I would've liked to see Sheehan because of the good pre season instead of a youngster from another PL club. Maybe it's with a view to buy?

Maybe he's learned from one of the best DM's, Scott Parker at Spurs.

I agree that another Josh McEachran springs to mind

Not sure why we have signed him to be honest as I thought we wanted to sign players who were able to slot straight into the first team ???

I hope this is not a last minute move because all our potential targets have gone elsewhere so its just a matter of getting some bodies in to fill the squad

I hope I am proved wrong

I don't understand the negativity towards this signing on here, I can only assume a lot of you haven't seen him play.

For what we need, some extra cover in midfield capable of playing in our passing system the guy is perfect. He's rated similarly to Jake Livermore before he got his move to Hull on loan, and if he can do something similar then it'll be a great signing.

Can't please some of you no matter what!!! He's a cracking little player who fits our style perfectly. He's probably not gonna be first choice, but to go and buy a midfielder who's better than Britton and Shelvey is gonna cost £7million+. He's impressed me every time I've seen him play and hopefully we've agreed a future fee. Give him a chance ffs

Exactly, I have watched him a number of times in Europa League & has impressed me. Everyone is commenting & writing him off and they haven't even seen him play! Baffling to say the least. I think he will thrive with us, just a shame to me that it's not a permanent deal.

If there's one club who I wouldn't value an opinion from it's QPR.Maybe his 40 yard passes over the top weren't up to scratch.

As long as he can read a game and keep it simple then he'll be worth trying out.We don't expect much more from our DM's.

Im baffled how anyone who has seen the kid play can think its a bad signing, unless its the possibility that we may now miss out on Stambouli.

Carrolls a quality player, a lot of Spurs fans are disappointed he has not been given a chance to shine there.

I still think we will sign a DM anyway as Carroll is more of a CM

Looks like he's cover for Leon at the moment, and relief for cup fixtures. He could probably do alright in the AM slot as well. Nothing negative about that.

Given that we currently have 2 first team central midfielders out injured, surely signing this guy on loan from a top 6 club is a no brainer?

Agreed! Lots of Spurs fans thought he'd break into their team or thereabouts this year.

By the way - I also don't know anything about Stambouli and I'm sure that most on here don't either other than a you tube clip.

For those saying it's another Josh Mceachran - it's just as likely of course to be another Caulker.

QPR aren't Swansea. We all know how they like to play football. Their opinion is invalid!

Welcome to Swansea!!! :D

He'll certainly be more comfortable in our style of play.

so people are disappointed that we have seen a guy who most have seen play live on tele or in person has signed for us to supplement the midfield over someone who nobody on this forum bar the odd person has seen play minus a few youtube clips.

Maybe Leon is closer to fitness than we thought and the club feel that having 2 CDM already is enough (Leon and Ki), then we have JJS,Carroll,Gylfi, Fulton and Emnes (AM) when fit. we can only play 3 at any given time we don't need too many numbers.

I don't think Ki is a proper defensive mid and Leon for all his excellence is 32 in three weeks so I would say we need a properly aggresive dynamic midfielder. Like Syambouli who appears to be on the move somewhere.

Or failing that Jack Cork.

As for Tom Carrol of course everyone wants him to be a success at Swansea why would anybody want otherwise ? Incidentially I hope we have a an option to buy so we are not just developing someone else's player.

Andros Townsend is playing for the despicable north London yobbos tonight in their tedious little European encounter. This means he is definitely not coming to us. Or definitely coming to us.

Oh fuck off you bitter inbred fucks!!!! All summer I have seen these pricks bring our club down on this shitty little site. The cheek of it Southampton fans of all people taking the piss out of Europe? Right that Europa cup that gets you a champions league place. They wish they were in any sort of European competition. Bitter deluded twats the lot of them. I hope we smash them to bits like we usually do. Tin pot club with inbred fans.
They've been on one about us for a good while now which is why I had no sympathy for their plight. Fuck the lot of them...and their huge/massive/amazing etc. club. Hope they sink into oblivion.

Very entertaining, that QPR forum:

QPR v Tottenham Hotspur Match Thread

I've just taken quotes from the numpties that think they'll turn us over at The Lane. TBF, plenty of them think they'll get nothing, but the entertainment is with the delusional fans isn't it?

Match 2: what do you think the outcome will be for this game?

I'm going 2-1 QPR, Spurs didn't impress me even though they won.

If any of you are unable to vote, please PM a member of the moderation team with your selection, we'll add it for you.

Agree. Thought Spurs looked poor against the hammers. Could go either way so why not ours?

Redemption for Charlie Boy in the 63rd, 1-0

Will Vargas be available? Will we be playing for a point? Will we playing for all three points?

At odds of around 13/2 for the win, I'll be putting a few quid on us to win.

One thing I gleaned from last Saturday, we won't ship many goals!

Priceless

Going to be really hard to predict for a couple of game's with all the new faces. But when I look at our squad, I can't help but only see us winning.... so going for 3-1 win rangers!

I think we just might surprise them sunday...0-1...Remy

Sensible comment:

3 zip spurs. We are not at that level (yet hopefully).

Followed by:

Nor are they.

I've said draw but think we could possibly nick a win as nothing to lose and no pressure on us. If we create chances like we did last week we'll have a decent chance.

They're not all idiots then..

It's almost as if they didn't lose to Hull. But I'm not complaining. I would love for every single team in the league to underestimate us this season and then for us to beat every single team in the league if only at home at least.

Well obviously yes but I have taken an interest on that saints web due to our interest in Schneiderlin and Rodriquez at the time and the amount of shit that comes out that site from various supporters on there taking the piss out of spurs is astounding. Southampton fans of all people who support a shit tin pot club like that.

Every team's board takes the piss out of the other teams. We do it here to all the others, why can't they? I honestly don't see why we would deserve their reverence.

I think Southampton seem to have an unhealthy obsession with us right now which is strange considering it was Liverpool that decimated most of their team not us.

It all started with Hoddle and then snowballed. Wupert didn't help that much.

QPR fans, on thread entitled 'Remy against spurs':

I think if they want him it won't matter how he plays. They won't decide on one game so we might as well play him and hope he bags a hatful, we need points!

Hate spurs cos of levy and his prikkish ways much more than i hate fulham. If he goes to them and levy has our pants down with a swap with dawson and three snickers bars or something i will be so pee doff.
^he knows

Hope we beat them but without Remy scoring, hehe.

Tom Carroll thread:

Off to Swansea on loan. Wish him the best of luck, think he will suit their style of play, premiership will test his physical game but Leon Britton sets a good example. Swansea's team looks solid, added good depth to the team. A team I don't look forward to playing. Bony and Gomis in attack will be a hard work for any defence.

A miss, would have liked him to stay.Dear Tom,please play with as much confidence as you can and you may do well.

No thanks, too slow, too weak and too many loose passes. Our gain is Swansea's loss.

We play a very different way to Swansea so I wouldn't be surprised to see Carroll look a much better player in this season's loan spell.

One of those players who is probably better playing at a higher level than in the champ. Parejo style. Big season for Carroll, think this move will decide what league he ends up in.

He wouldn't get anywhere near our team now, thank god.

It'll be interesting to see how he makes out in the Prem.

QPR:

Just like last week, it's Championship vs. Premiership.

lamela vs Dunne..... dont know whether to laugh or cry

Boys against men - painful to watch
icon_sad.gif

Arsenal:

Spurs 1-0 up vs QPR, Chadli.

Think the Spuds will have a good season, Pochettino is quality.

Spurs looking really good. Lamela been brilliant too

Pochettino is a top young manager, think he'll build something at Spurs unless a big Spanish club comes in.

At the least, he'll have them a serious threat for top 4.

Very complimentary.

Liverpool:

Spurs are gonna be a bigger threat than last season unfortunately

Lamela done more in first half hour than he did last season.

And just how much will Rio be regretting his choice of club.
cheesy.gif

Spurs are shite. Can't wait till we play them, gonna tear them apart.

The lack of commitment from QPR is shocking. Spurs have been given an unbelievable amount of time and space

QPR are bad but Spurs are good too.

Tough game next sunday.

To be fair, I believe Spurs will be better than last season with a settled squad and good manager. How good remains to be seen and not much can be taken from today barring the fact that QPR are very poor while Spurs have the capacity to smash weak sides.

Turned off this shite, what's the point. It doesn't befit the label 'match' when one team goes into it without any plan whatsoever, nor do they show more urgency and risk taking when they concede.

Eriksen is right up there for set pieces scored, chances created and scores a few too. There is absolutely no comparison.
Would you say Eriksen Is better than Modric? Because his stats on paper im pretty sure will trump Modric's. Not saying Coutinho is as good as Modric however on footballing abilities imo its a tight call.

Agree, it's a bloody tight call. Coutinho definitely isn't shit, but isn't much worse/better than Eriksen either.

Modric was never really the assister though. He was the assister to the assister. Eriksen plays further forward than Modric and so will create more chances and score more goals. Technique wise they are both top class.
