Lots of talk about potential transfer targets. Many think we need a 4th choice centre back to play ahead of Dawson and Gallas.

Many think we need a midfield playmaker in the Moutinho mould and a winger to compete with Bale and Lennon.

We have a pretty big squad and some senior players not playing a part. Some are deemed not good enough but to buy multiple players we are going to need to sell.

Who should we actively be trying to get rid of?

The poll is multiple choice and I've named those that I've noticed have several people advocating their sale.

The most important to get rid of is players like Bentley, Jenas & Gomes.

Then players that AVB doesn't want. Huddlestone?

EDIT: I would also sell Naughton for a few million and promote Smith.

Anyone who is worth something and isn't important. Priority has to be Bentley,Gomes and Jenas as none anywhere near the squad. The rest can wait unless we get but money offers for a "squad player".

Gomes, Bentley, Jenas and Hudd if we sign a playmaker in Jan

Loan Livermore to prem and Carroll if we sign a playmaker, Loan out Falque or Townsend to top division if we sign a winger or someone like Isco

Cudicini, Gomes, Gallas, Dawson, Huddlestone, Bentley, Jenas, Dempsey, Sigurdsson I would just get rid of.

Livermore, Naughton and Defoe if we got good bids for them. The first two I can't see being first team regulars ever and Defoe is now 30, a bid of £10m+ I would be very tempted to cash in, it will be the last chance.

A lot of them are deadwood, but some will need replacing... getting people in though seems to be the age old problem.

Everyone on that list bar Dempsey, Naughton and Rose. And rightly or wrongly why isnt Dawson on your list?

Gomes seems happy to see out his big contract.

cudicini - he can hang around as 3rd choice, no problems with that
gomes - he's as good as gone already, no point him being here anymore
gallas - will most likely retire at the end of the season anyway
dawson - would keep unless we feel we can adequately replace him
rose - keep, good young player
naughton - ehh, if he's moved on then i'm sure we could replace him easily enough
dempsey - doing better now, can't see him going anytime soon but perhaps reevaluate in the summer
hudd - decent player but just doesn't fit into what avb wants from a midfielder so we should look to get decent money for him
livermore - backup player, loves spurs, wouldn't get a great deal for him anyway
bentley - sell if we can
jenas - sell if we can
defoe - keep
sigurdsson - keep, has talent, still young

It's going to be nigh on impossible to bring in any established quality players in January, because transfer fees are inflated in the middle of the season and we simply don't have the cash

Therefore I'd keep all of the squad who is currently playing, and look to sell those who are nowhere near the first team (e.g. Gomes, Bentley, etc)

Overall, I'm afraid we're going to have to be patient and wait until the summer for any substantial signings*

*...and when I mean summer, I mean 11:45pm on August 31st 2013 :)

Sorry I am not asking solely about the January transfer market. The idea that we'll sell 10 and buy 10 is unrealistic however many lists of ins/outs people write.

I'm pretty much asking about those we can sell without weakening our squad and those we can sell and find an easy replacement for.

Levy is always trying to get more for our players than they are actually worth, why else would Jenas and Bentley still be Tottenham players , and as for Dempsey didn't we sign him on 31-Aug , that means we cannot sell him even of we wanted to.

I don't expect many in or out in January

i think we need two big players in january, most will know who those two are. one would allow huddlestone to move on and despite him getting a fair bit of flak on here, i think he'd command a decent amount. there's no other player in the squad that we can afford to let go in january, none that would bring in a significant amount anyway.

having said that, i'm not expecting us to do much during the window.

I think we should really be looking to loan out Livermore and Carroll if we intend on keeping THudd and Parker is fully healthy. I can't imagine us not signing a midfielder in the window, either. Those two need exposure, and I'm sure some teams are willing to bring them on and give them time. I could totally see Livermore in a bottom of the table side looking for help in defense, and Carroll would be a great fit for Swansea if they would have an opening for him.

Fair play

Well, like I said, I don't think they'll be any easy replacements, but if AVB has a good scouting network we might be able to pick up an unknown. The likes of Newcastle and Everton did it last year

Providing we sign a CM and a winger/AM:
Sell:
Huddlestone
Jenas
Bentley
Gomes
Dawson (only over £8m)

Premier League loans:
Livermore
Falque

The only two I would definitely keep are dempsey and defoe. If we are serious about a top 4 place we should be looking to slowly replace all of them players over the next few seasons with upgrades. None of them are game changers and are just squad players really. I do like dawson and I think gallas has done a job, as has rose at times but none of them would make our first 11 and I think most of us would even be relictant to put them on our bench. A young cb, creative mid and pacy/skillful winger for all of them and our squad would be much more balanced!

But this is my point. Whether we sign a CM and a winger or not Bentley, Jenas and Gomes will not get game time. Surely they can be sold without any repercussions and as long as we receive an offer acceptable to the board.

Some might argue that Dembele, Sandro, Parker and Carroll are out 4 first choice central midfielders. Some don't believe Huddlestone and Livermore are good enough for the level we are right now and never will be. We can sell Huddlestone and Livermore if we don't believe in their potential without any problems according to some. With Dembele, Sandro, Parker and Carroll ahead of them we should be able to sell in the summer and replace quite easily.

Dawson is a real question mark for me. One one hand if he is happy to stay and be a squad member then we have a very good 4th choice centre back. But then is having someone of his monetary value really worth keeping only for it to depreciate? Can we easily find a youngster who fits AVB's style better or is having someone as good as Dawson 4th choice a dream situation?

Voted for Hudds, Jenas, Bentley, and Gomes. Hudds is the only one of those that are even considered members of the squad, and he should be sold because he just simply isn't good enough. He's a liability at this point.

As for the others: Definitely need a loan for Livermore. Possibly sell Dawson/Gallas. The former because he could get a pretty decent fee (8 million?), despite not having too much use in the squad at the moment (lets be honest, the CB situation isn't going to get much more dire and if he can't get playing time NOW, i dont think he ever will under AvB) and the latter because he's bordering on not being good enough. As for Rose, reevaluate him at the end of the season after his loan is complete and we have a better idea of what he can offer as a LB.

Defoe is playing too well, and is way too valuable to us to sell at the moment. Only sell him if he wants out.

Dempsey shouldn't even be on the list. Nor should Naughton. We need them.

Should be on the list because there are people advocating their sales. Wouldn't be much of a poll if I only included those that I think should be sold.

About a month ago I'm sure more than one person would have voted for Dempsey.
