We need an lb, CB and a left winger. We need to sell or loan Carroll, livermore, siggy, Bentaleb, Rose.
Beyond that we should only buy if an exceptional player becomes available similar to vdv.

Do some of you not understand that half our problems this season have been because there were massive squad changes last summer?

With respect, I think the current discussion is focusing on the wrong issue.

There isn't an inherent problem with signing a lot of players in any one window. The problem is that we already have a bloated squad. And many of last season's signings haven't yet had a proper opportunity to show us what they're really capable of. So I'd rather that we gave them, and our other players, a chance before signing another truck load of new players.

Not to mention that it would also be good to give some of our youth graduates more of a chance - both the slightly older ones, like Carroll and Pritchard, and the recent crop, like Oduwa and Onomah.

That's why I'd like us to spend big on only three or four new players in key positions rather than spending less, on average, on six or seven new players.

This all day long, it's generally accepted Liverpool need an influx of players so their small squad can cope with the extra games they'll have this season. We on the other hand always have a bloated squad, particularly in one position, used to be rb's,then lw's (bale, kranjcar, pienaar) and now it's am's, so we'll always have unsettled players and no way through for the kids. One of my main gripes with levy is sign as many under market value players as possible and hope one becomes a worldy rather than properly plan

If we retain all the playing staff from last year (and get them fit), plus maybe a centre back and left back I wouldnt be looking to slit my wrists.

We have barely seen half our new signings, and Adebayor played half a season. We dont need another window of massive upheaval, we need a window of consolidation.

I think the point is we chose a manager who has done a good job with young and existing players at Soton, rather than one who is going to demand a certain big name/expensive player(s) is required for his masterplan to work, or else fail abysmally. We have some serious latent talent in the squad we need to coax out, I still think Soldado, Lamela, Eriksen and Capoue are potentially going to be the absolute nuts if we can get them firing, and I back some of our more 'unrefined' talents Walker, Townsend, Kane, Nabil to have the potential to easily match Lallana, Shaw and co.

Hasnt levy already stated in his end of season address that there wont be much upheaval with The squad i would imagine ins or outs.
Its highly unlikely We will spend Big on any purchases we do make which is probably one of the reasons why he was employed to mainly work with young players and not purchase expensive ready made players which is music to levys ears.
I hope the coach doesnt get too dissapointed if levy doesnt get his first choice targets.

I would imagine the squad, potential signings and any transfer business was first on the list of topics discuss when interviewing Poch to be the new manager.

Since we've officially stated that we want him to work with the existing squad, I'm pretty damn sure Poch will be well aware that this is exactly why he's been brought in. He's not going to be handing Levy a list of £30m-each targets like AVB did.

Im sure your probably right i Personally dont think he needs a great deal just a few key signings four maximum and anyway he is walking into a new 30 million pound signing in lamela i fancy he will suprise some this year.

A left back and a centre half and anything else will be a bonus. If we start this season with Danny Rose at LB I will personally drive to WHL and belt Levy.

I got the impression from Levy's statement that Spurs won't be buying a lot of players this summer but that he is prepared to spend big on the right players for the positions where we do need to strengthen.

Sounds good i think We only need about four of the right players plus we have a 30 million pound player to come in in lamela looking forward to seeing what this boy Can do.

In the match only Paulinho and Soldado were new players in the liverpool match iirc.

It probably has more to do with the fact:
AVB created less clearcut chance than any other team
AVB made us rely on Bale and as soon as he left, we struggled
AVB frozen out our no.2 striker and put more pressure on Soldado to do well without giving him decent service
AVB didnt fancy some of the players
AVB wasn't allowed to get his players
Sherwood didnt know the squad
Sherwood didnt do much better other than attacking
Sherwood being a car crash
Sherwood openly dismissing players abilities and etc
Sherwood it seemed lost the dressing room

How did Chelsea do so well with adding 8 new first team players?

Now our new signings get a pass but what was the problem of the settled players who let us down last season?

I agree but I feel Poch would have other ideas and what exactly is 3 or 4 players?

I think we need 3 first team signings(CB, LB and LW) and then have to replace the players that are leaving like Gomes, perhaps Dawson(Harry already on the phone), fryers and if ade goes
