Bale is no Ronaldo nor Robben who are - with Messi - maybe the best dribblers in the game...as well as both have vicicous shoots.

Its why I can't see him playing as a winger for long.

I was never quite the Bale fan at the beginning cos I could never see him as a defender. But as he hit peak form as winger I started to see a forward. Bale has time on his side and if he was not flogged like a pit pony which we have habbit of doing with our stars at spurs he has the potential to develop into the top player has shown us glimpses of!!

No. Personally I don't rate Bale as highly as some
others. He's been found out on the left hand side with his kick and run method. I think at least from the right hand side he would be able
to cut in more and pose more of an all round threat.

I agree.

I know we've had success with him running at defenders from deeper positions, but I feel this part of his game has nulified some what as teams are doubling up on him and he hasn't had the same impact. He also doesn't have the dribbling skills to overcome this. What he does have is pace, power, aerial ability and the ability to whip the perfect ball into the box.

If you played him in a front 3, as a left sided forward, I believe he would still be able to drop into deeper positions, but generally most of his play would be in the final third where he could latch onto the perfect pass, run at the defence, have a crack at goal and still be able to cross the perfect ball in. He would basically be running from shorter distances, where as currently teams have the chance to think and double up on him as he's covering so much ground.

I think what's quite exciting about Bale is no one is sure where he will end up playing.
