Since I started supporting Spurs:

Lloris

Carr - Scumbell* - King - Bale

Gazza - Modric - Ginola

Sheringham

Klinsmann - Lineker

Style: Attacking!

I had to stick Bale at full back to get Daveed in there! :)

*Sorry! He's a Judas prick but he was an excellent player for us. I wish we had another CB better than him in our recent history but I just could not think of one!

The best I have seen ... tough call but:

Jennings
Mackay England King
Ardiles Modric
Bale Gazza Jones
Greaves Lineker

Too many good players left out but these players I would go out of my way to watch

Hoddle was good but made by Ardiles and never the same player without him and not as good as Gazza.

Hard to leave players out but I tried to pick players who I thought were truly great players ... but left off the likes of Blanchflower who I only ever saw once or twice

These things always amuse me personally as from when I started remembering players the lack of defenders who I thought wow they're good is so so small. Therefore here's my team:

Lloris
King Campbell (sadly)
Ginola Modric Carrick Gazza Bale
Sheringham Klinsmann Berbatov

Subs: Robinson, Mabbutt, Carr, VDV, Keane, Parker, Lineker

Since I 've been watching;

Lloris
D Thomas
King
Gough
Hughton
Waddle
Modric
Hoddle
Bale
Gascoigne
Klinnsman

Gazza to play the No10 role so he and Hoddle can play in the same team.

When doing this selection I've come to realise that We've never had any quality ball-winning midfielder or midfield enforcer at all since the 80s. Good ones maybe, but none that are great enough to warrant a place in the greatest team.

No one like Mackay.

Have we ever had a high quality right back ? Perryman was not a natural right back. Carr was nothing special, Thomas and Kinnear probably are the only 2 I remember looking good there. I think Kinnear was pretty underrated.

Jennings
Kinnear King Mabbutt Knowles
Waddle Mackay Hoddle Bale
Greaves Gilzean

Good to see Gilzean included in Danny Thomas' team. He was a great link man and forged great partnerships with Greaves and then Chivers. Also interested/ disappointed that no one has included Martin Peters. Clearly exteremely unappreciated as he was a class player. We've certainly had some class players over the years

Thanks Gosford he may not have been a prolific scorer himself but Gillie was the ultimate strike partner. I think my team has plenty of goals in it anyway...

Do any of you have a copy of the VHS of Venables selecting his greatest spurs team? It was kind of an interview with brian moore, way back in 1989. Been trying to search for this to no avail.

If any of you have this, would you remember who he selected? I clearly remember Ditchburn and Hoddle in the team but cant remember the other selections. I also remember him feeling so bad about selecting Ditchburn instead of Jennings.

Seen one with Barry Davies talking with some guy from The Times I think it was and they both went for Ditchburn also.
