Yep it was 2-1 but we were already playing like a beaten team, our pattern of play didn't change when Kranjkcar came on which was disappointing, but you can't really blame him for that. It was the rest of the team that kept going so direct to Crouch all the time.

I think our players were only back in training yesterday, so after only one session with the team he defo can't be blamed for not dictating the play in a 15/20 minute sub appearance.

Plus Vidic was lucky to see out half time never mind full time, an absoloute thug.

Disappointed at the performance and the result, but 12 from 5 is better then 2 from 8.

I don't blame him as such, but he should have been demandind the ball more. He played one or two nice passes when he got the ball, but he didn't look to want the ball enough. Of course, even if he did demand it we probably would have ignored him anway and just lump it up to Crouch

Berbatov dived for the free kick.
Evra headbutted Corluka.
Vidic should have gone.
Fletcher should have been booked earlier.

Once again a poor ref, but didn't help that we played so poorly.

we shouldve put jenas at RB instead of hutton , but in all seriousness i think bentley shouldve got some minutes because lennon was always going to be tired after playing for england..

One of the commentators after Crouch went close with a header from a corner said " I bet Tottenham have been working on that all week" Yep with Crouch away on England duty

We're always playing 12 against united, thats just something we have to accept from the supposed best league in the world. I don't think united were good today and it'll prob be at least another 10 years before a ref sends a united player off against us when the game's still alive, so that's the disappointing thing.

The way we played against 10 men was very poor, but I guess it highlights how much we missed Luka. If Rooney had been injured and Rio was as patriotic as Defoe and Lennon maybe the score would've been different.

So many little challenges they got free kicks for, where we didn't for equivalent challenges, had to check that we weren't playing at Old Trafford.

Was shocked when Scholes went as I was fully expecting a free-kick to them.

We were well beaten and Harry's team selection was wrong for a game against Man U. A few points:
Our passing was very poor for much of the game.
We are missing Modric more than I thought we would.
Hudd should never be picked against teams who play a fast quick passing side. The game passed him by today as it always does in these games, especially in the 1st Half. He passing was poor and his free kicks terrible.
Keane should not have been picked on the left. We had a midfield with 3 players who can't tackle - Keane, Hudd & Lennon. We were overrun in midfield.
Crouch played ok, but we had only one attacking thought in the 2nd half, long high balls and crosses. This played to United's strength with Vidic and Ferdinand.
I see JJ is getting the usual blame from some on here, but he wasn't on the pitch when we were overrun in the 1st Half. He also came much closer to scoring than Hudd and he should have started with Palcious.
Finally, we were beaten by a much better team.

We absolutely cannot start Crouch because of the way he makes us play. We are wondering why we were so bad when we played with 3 strikers, 2 pushed right up on the last man and one stuck out on the left? This is no Harry bashing as has and will continue to be "triffic", but today he got it very, very wrong! Crouch actually played well but we had no link up play because he and Defoe were pushing up too long and the mids had nowhere to go. So it was "to me, to you"non the halfway line and then "ooh, I know, I've got nothing on, I'll just tap it back to Leds or Seb and they can knock it up to big Crouchey! That is not how we have got to the top of the league and it is not how we will get back there.

It should have been Keane and Defoe with Niko on the left or even Bentley/Gio.

Dissappointing, but we will move on and hopefully Harry will learn from his mistakes today.

At least Arsenal got slaughtered today.

I thought before the challenge on berbatov, our player was unfairly challenged on the half way line, i cant help but feel had it been Man U it wouldve been an instant freekick.. probably wouldnt have changed the outcome of the game but still these decisions here and there couldve made a difference..

Redknapp just made some reassuring observations.

"We tried too go from back to front to quickly. We were probably too eager to try and hit crouchy. Thats not the way we play, we need to get in better positions before we try and cross it for him. But we didnt give him enough support, the midfield were coming back to play it short, we were too stretched."

That is very positive because it means he has seen the same as the rest of us and will no doubt look to rectify it before we play chelski next week.

The ref gave us nothing in the 1st half which is where their 1st goal came from. I hope Harry means what he says and he's going to use Crouch as an impact player coming from the bench. There's a reason he struggled at Liverpool and I think we should be challenging the top 4 so Crouch can't be a regular starter unless Bentley's suddenly gonna find some Blackburn form. That would mean Lennon on the left and undropable Keano probably playing instead of Palacios.

It's good that he can see the problem, but why didn't he try and change it during the game?

To be fair to Harry he was in a difficult position as far as team selection was concerned.

Cudicini, Huddlestone and Keane have all performed and it would be very difficult to drop any of them after their start to the season for players who are only just coming back from injury (Gomes and Jenas) or we have have just signed (Krancjkar).

Against a team who move the ball as quickly as United I would have preferred to see Jenas and Palacios in the middle and played Nico on the left as he is used to the position and should be able to hold/distribute it better.
I would always go with Gomes over Cudicini as I think he's a class act.
As for Crouch up front I felt he played well today but why mess with a winning formula in Keane and Defoe? I'd rather see the two smaller men running at Vidic asking questions than the old fashioned hoof.

But as I said at the start it is unfair to drop players who are performing unless there is a good reason. Today there was one so I expect to see a different starting eleven when we come up against Chelsea.

Just back from the game, the key decision for me was the ref awarding a free kick for the Berbatoss dive. As always seems the case when we play Manure, they get one very dodgy decision which turns the whole game.

The ref was truly awful today and caved in to Utd's intimidation tactics, which were led expertly from the bench by Fergie. If we had had a stronger ref today, it may have been a differnt result, but instead we had a ref that gave them the benifit of virtually every decision, including numorous times when Crouch was clearly being held, but insterad of a freekick or penalty to us, he awarded them the free kick.

Shit ref aside though, Utd scored a fantastic free kick and when they went down to 10 men they really gave us a masterclass in how to play with one man less.
