I sat there watching the game and i said as soon as they got the free kick if Gomes is in goals this will not go in.....10 seconds later7

Not even Gomes could have saved that free kick. Only a select few keepers in the world can save those types of shots.

Carlo had a solid game. He produced some very good saves that kept us in the game.

looking at the table we can still affrod to lose agaist chelsea as well

We played like that against Chelsea they will murder us, however i think the performance will be better against them even if we fail to get any points.

Probably the only (very small) positive. Still, would have preferred us to win/draw and other fans continue to be a bit deluded.

We definitely need to sort out defence though. We can't expect to score at least 2 goals every match. What happened to the mean defence of last season?
Having Gomez back might help but I don't think it was such a mean defence last season. We let in five goals against united last season.
No not me m8 I'm gonna stay in cookoo land because we are a good team but the tactics let us down today. Harry banged on about the balance of the squad when he came in but today he fielded a very unbalanced squad. It could be because alot of the players just came back from inter duties but for whatever reason Harry fcuked up today.
He put Keane on the left but apart from that it wasn't really unbalanced and if you're staying in cookoo land then you won't see the reality, which is that we are not a top four team or title contenders, we are not good enough or consistent enough or tough enough mentally.

crouch was good in the first half i dont know why people are being unfair to him, defoe didnt look good in the second half.. I wouldnt say crouch cant work in our system based on todays performance because every1 was rubbish..

I don't think most people are slating Crouch but the way that we seem to play mainly high balls when he's on. If this game was at OT then I would understand it but at home we should be getting the ball down and passing it.

Jenas did alright when he came on, our problems today were:

  • Keane at left wing
  • Hudd not getting near Man Utd's midfield
  • Too many long balls to Crouch
  • Lack of confidence after conceeding the 1st goal
  • Strange subs by Harry
  • Not keeping hold of the ball (even against 10)

Disagree with jenas comment, Jenas did fuck all apart from have a shot on target? Rest is spot on. Why do we pass the ball backwards so much?
oh and nico kranky done nothing at all, i pray he turns out to be a good player. I really thought we could win this i really did, which is why im so cheesed off about this, if ronaldo had still been playing for manu we would have been PROPERLY shafted today even more so than we were.

I agree. Crouch did well despite the lack of service. The midfield was always looking for the easy option which is the problem with Crouch and we need to fix that.

Its not a case of Crouch can't work the Spurs system but the players need to stop blasting the ball to him everytime we have possession. I thought he played quite well

Not Harry's finest hour. Keano on the left didn't work, Hutton coming on wasn't really gamble enough. Don't know why the team stopped trying to press hard after 15 minutes, but I'll assume it was their own decision. Expect that we will learn from today: Defoe, Crouch and Keane do not go into one team.

They were good today, by the way, very good. Giggs and Scholes rolled back the years at times, and Berbatov...

Crouch should have scored at least one goal today.

Agree Dr. Know, Crouch had a decent game, but when he's on all the team do is immediately look for him when they have the ball, not Crouch's fault at all but the rest of the team just look for the easy option.

Jenas played as he normally plays, nothing spectacular but had our best attempt on goal in the 2nd half. We were shit with Palacios on in the first half too so let's not slate Jenas when he didn't do anything wrong.

Kranjckar wasn't great but by the time he came on we was already a beaten team and in to the pattern of playing long balls to Crouch.

We deserved to get beaten today. No bottle when we went 2-1 down, and didn't make the extra man count. It looked like we were playing with ten men, not United. Disgusted because we had a chance. Was impressed with JJ when he came on. That's about it really.

A bad day at the office. But its one game, against the Champions. I'd rather we play like that against Man Utd than a team we would expect to beat. I wish the guys on ESPN wouldn't keep calling it a reality check though. We haven't been ranting and raving about our start and we've kept our feet firmly on the ground. Its by no means a reality check. We've lost 1 game in 6. Yes we were all over the place, but mostly we were just tired today. Thats what it was more than anything else, a tired performance. It can happen after International duty. What we need to do now is regain our fitness in the next 8 games and perform much better at the Bridge. Its been a fantastic start to the season, we have 12 points in 5 games and we will perform a lot lot better than today. We've lost to Man Utd people, lets get some perspective. Bad performance for sure, but 1 bad performance in 6 games shouldn't get us down.

All credit to Man United, they looked fantastic ! Back to the midfield, we really gave them too much room and I do really blame tom for that ! Ah well, will we ever beat Man United, I am not sure. But all credit to them... I thought Rooney,Anderson,Giggs,Fletcher and Scholes ( about time he got sent off..). were fantastic ! They bossed our midfield .. A true sign of champions and really shows the gap. Here looking forward to the next game  BTW, I also put this down to the dreaded Barclays Manager of the month and Player CURSE !!!:bang::bang:

As disappointing as the performance was, we do have 12 points from 15, bet few expected that from our opening 5.

I think Man U going down to 10 men was probably the worst part of tonight, we lacked shape before that but it got alot worse when Man u went to 10 we had people all over the place and out of position, very unprofessional..

Didn't he come on when we were only 2-1 down? Hardly a beaten team by then.

He should have been the one to make us playing some football, but instead just went along with the rest of the team and tried not to make any meaningful passes

if crouchs header goes in at 1-2 instead of hitting the bar we get back in it and would have been a intresting last 15 minutes. harry went for it and it didnt pay off. 1 performace not a big deal with 12 points already on the board.

get something next week then the 5 games after that all look winable

the dreaded curse of the manager of the month award.......... We played the wrong game today and we lacked our quick crisp passing and just hoofed it upfield. should have started with Kranjcar/Gio on the left and continued with Keano & Defoe upfront.

Yep it was 2-1 but we were already playing like a beaten team, our pattern of play didn't change when Kranjkcar came on which was disappointing, but you can't really blame him for that. It was the rest of the team that kept going so direct to Crouch all the time.
