If we don't sign anyone then please god don't let us let keane go..... I don't think I could take another rasiak/Campbell desperate signing.

I don't rate muntari either but to be fair Harry must see something in him and he is the one that has seen him in training day in day out. Gomez?? I would prefer Gomez Adams

and just wanted to say.. after the way we treated Seville in tapping up Juande Ramos, I doubt they'll ever sell any player to us whilst their chairman is in charge; or it will be at grossly inflated prices.

They've been messing with Levy over Fabiano, its happened over Kanoute and the young winger in the past.

If our approaches for Fabiano were serious we're extremely naive.

I dont think thats the case at all tbh. If it was then negotiations wouldnt have been so easy like they were when we sold them Zokora last season.

I agree in part. But we don't know if it was "an extra £3 million". From a couple of sources we've had in our direction, it seems Sevilla have been playing silly buggers with us anyway. But there's no point risking future transfer strategy on one deal. I mean, it doesn't make commercial sense does it? If you're always willing to bow to the needs of the seller? We're not in a weak position from a negotiating point of view. Ultimately signing Fabiano would have been a risk, and given how some Spurs fans react to money spent on players (I'm talking the hounding out of Darren Bent just because Charlton put a ridiculous price on him, that we ultimately caved in to), it could have really blown up in Levy's face signing that one big player.

Who knows what tomorrow may bring? I just feel that without knowing everything that's gone on, it's unfair to make judgment either way. It could be that Sevilla said "£25 million" straight away and we pissed about. It could equally be that we thought we had a deal at whatever price, only for them to say, well actually give us another £3m and then did the same again etc. etc.

So what I object to, and this applies to Mr Quinn who obviously got on the end of my pre-caffeine injection post, is that there's no way that Levy and Co haven't made a massive fucking effort to sort this. Because there's no doubt in my mind, given their track record on all projects associated with Spurs (and I mean stadiums and training grounds and community stuff) that they will have gone absolutely balls out to try and get a world class striker.

I just want to see a bit of faith in the management that has got us this far.

How do you feel about the fact Harry has said to Levy, i want 3 from man city and one from sevilla and when Levy has stopped laughing his ass off he's said ok i'll see what i can do?

I mean, if i know those two clubs hate us and would make any dealings virtually impossible i would have thought Levy might have had and incline and some kind of a back up plan.

The fact remains that we were bidding on Fabiano, so it follows that we have identified the front line as a matter of priority for a quality signing. with that in mind dont you think we'd have has a price to go to and a second option (of similar quality) ready if they turned us down.

One of the mods said that the first trickle of info re Fab was on the board in may, i mean if this is true that means levy has planned to deal for Fab since the window opened. I just think it is gobsmacking that this is something Levy would let himself get involved in, I would have thought, especially after Arshavin, Levy would have offered our top bid right away and if they turned down he'd move on straight away.

Dont get me wrong, i am a fan of Levy and i am happy he backed out rather than paying 20m for Fab, but the rest of the deal like the time spent and leaving it till 24hr before the window shuts is all just a little dissapointing to some people.

That's your opinion

yes, but its not difficult to comprehend. City have pontificated over transfer targets all summer. There is no liquid cash in the market (clubs are no longer borrowing or mortgaging to buy).

City were expected to buy earlier and inject cash into a stagnant market. Its not happened until late.

Spurs needed players off the register.. Keane, Hutton, etc, its not happened for us.

Hence we go with what we have and its still very good IMO

Sevilla sell all of their best players at grossly inflated prices. Del Nido won't have a problem doing the same with Spurs. There were no difficulties in the transfer of Zokora to Sevilla, and there wouldn't be in any player coming to Spurs at the right price. Fabiano didn't want to come to England and that's the most important factor.

Yeah, what was Levy thinking of getting Bale and Modric to sign new contracts.

Should've sold them off for a healthy profit so we could've got 56,250 people to watch a load of old dross.

If only real life was like Championship manager. You know about as much as to what Levy's intentions have been as the rest of us. In other words, not a lot.

Hey ban me, if you don't like my opinion. Until then, I got my opinion and you have nothing but stupid simulation game trash talk to prove any different. I don't play them by the way, so suck on that.

And you know what he was doing with Bale and Modric. Fucking making sure that he gets full value for them next summer when they want Champions League football.

All this striker talk got me thinking, it seems we have a lot of goals through out the team with bale krancky and modders all hopefully chipping in.

But maybe we're all barking up the wrong tree, the one thing that we seem to be mising is a midfield general, someone who can grab the game by the 'scruff of the neck' ala PS SG FL CF. All successful teams need that magic player that ups the ante. I love THudd and Modders just cant see them doing it.

Zokora was sold as a sweetener to build bridges with Seville.
Del Nido hates Spurs for what they did with Ramos.
We'll never know the full picture but I doubt there was never any intention to sell Fabiano to Spurs.

personally I'm underwhelmed with fabiano anyhow

With the Ibra signing, Borriello could become available now as he's the player whose place he will take. Perhaps he is who Levy went to Italy to bring back?
