So you like Borriello as a player? What is it that you think he will bring as a forward to us?

Not overly, although far more than his understudy Huntelaar. Just deducting that he could be heading out as they've got Ibra to replace him.

Not seen much of him but he seems excellent at holding up the ball, hard working and not to shabby at shooting. Looks like he could lead the line in a 4-5-1, which almost none of the players we've been linked to can.

My opinion:

The negativy comes from the fact that our main rival, which we just pipped to 4th, has strengthened significantly. And this time around, there is no sparky to screw them up massively. Lpool aren't looking too shabby either. Negativity would not be warranted if things had stayed the same, but they haven't. Time is working against us atm, not for us.

How did Sparky 'screw them up massively'? He lost three games and got the sack, Mancini lost more than that last year and is already a third of the way there three games in.

But we cannot compete with Citeh, even Real Madrid have confessed that they cannot, so why sell the long term future of the club down the drain by paying stupid money which we cannot recoup.

I still maintain we have a much better squad than the bin dippers, even if they got Joey Cole. That'll move them up from 7th to 6th, maybe. But equally they are trying (maybe even signed as I've been busy today) Konchesky - who on here would be happy with that kind of signing.

Not me.

I guess I'm the only one left whoi hasn't been infected. I still don't want any more players than I wanted last May: a defensive midfielder (Sandro), a backup goalkeeper (Pletikosa), plus someone to cover for Woodgate after we found out he wouldn't be availoable (Gallas).

And a lone striker, except that we don't have one yet. We only have four experienced international strikers who have played in major international tournaments and thre Champions League.

We've done just fine. I never wanted any big-time signings, although I wouldn't have thrown Joe Cole or Luis Fabiano out ofd the pub. What's the point in signing players who aren't any better than the ones we have. Most fans underrate our players and think Suarez and Huntelaar are superstars because they score 30+ goals a year in Eredivisie. FFS, Defoe would score 50 a year in Eredivisie.

I agree, we can't compete with them financially, so we have to be as clever as we can and squeeze the best for every $ we spend. Just like Arsenal (mostly) does every season. They even managed to do that with Chelski mad spending.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want us to throw stupid money, I'd rather us hire the best scouts in the world than buy Fabiano for 20mil. But we need to keep moving and it seems that this window we haven't moved as much as the others. Hence the negativity on here.

I remember 7 draws in a row?

This time last season City had three wins from three games. Hughes lost TWO games and got the sack (one against Utd and one against us), he also beat Arsenal twice and Chelsea once during that season.

He didn't mess them up at all.

You'd agree with me though, that they are playing much better under Mancini than under Sparky? Under "mess them up" I meant that I don't think Mancini would drop that much points as Sparky did last season. I used a too strong word.

No mate, I wouldn't.

Mancini is too negative, I think he'll be gone before Xmas and hopefully it'll be another lost season for those f*ckers.

Had any of those draws been wins - our future would be so different to what it is now. City would have pipped us to 4th, they still might have done if they had some faith in Hughes.

Forgive me for being obtuse, but where?

Harry wanted 3 from city, fact.

Fabiano from Sevilla, Fact

City and sevilla hate us, fact.

We bid on Fabiano, fact.

Front line identified as area to strengthen, fact.

Mod said first info re Fab was in may, fact. (wether it was in may or the mod got it wrong i dont know but he said it in this thread in reply to someone)

Bidding for Fab since start of window, fact based assumption, but a fair one on the evidence i would say.

Levy backed out of deal because of price, Fact.

far less assumptions than facts i would say.

Mancini plays the most negative dull football imaginable. City are only winning games due to the individual quality of the personnel. Mancini's record as a manager, once you scrutinise it, is not great Manager of Inter winning a very weak Serie A while never progressing in the Champions League.

Gone before December for me.
