Interesting move, will link up with Townsend down there.

I'm not sure to make of this lad, he seems a decent football but aside from the Barcelona goal and a nice through ball I remember from pre season I have seen nothing from him to suggest he will make any more of an impact than Dean Marney.

Hopefully this loan will show us what he is made of anyway.

Against Arsenal, he seemed like he had a big heart and got in to make tackles whenever possible. Yet he did not get his head up to look for a pass when he got the ball; that ofcourse could have been to do with the players infront of him who all moved very poorly.

To be honest I haven't seen enough of him to tell if he is going to make it or not, but considering that Sandro looked good in the later part of the 1st half and started picking out players with passes whilst still breaking up play, I think it highlighted the difference in quality between Sandro and Livermore.

Good look hope the lad plays his socks off and does well. Some of our loanees need to start stepping up and standing out in the lower leagues if they want to make it at Spurs. Especially Bostock if Harrys comments on talkshite are anything to go by.

looks like he didnt do enough against ar5ena1 to prove he deserves a chance with us this season. its make or break for him and are other youngsters like bostock, rose, naughton, walker and possibly caulker who i reckon will be sent out on loan as well. as harry is quoted as saying, if they drop down to championship or below then of they're not the best players at the club and not shining at that level they're not good enough for us.
hope some of them take that to heart, especially bostock whos attitude is allegedly poor

I may have an over simplistic view of the loan system and I am sure there are many more variables involved....but I am of the opinion that any player who is ever to make an impact with us will be capable of looking outstanding on their loans in lower league teams.

IF they fail to excel and be the star players when loaned out to these clubs to me this suggests they will never make it with us.

So let us see if Livermore (and Townsend) look outstanding in their games for Ipswich and see if that tells us anything about their potential to step up to our level.

Harry has said this just today. RE: Bostock and Rose.

If they can't shine in the Championship how do they expect to do so in the Premier League?

Pretty much agree with you AM. The only one to really excel last season was Caulker at Yeovil. He is still very young for a CB and needs a loan to a Championship team (he's been linked to Leeds and Doncaster) to continue his development. For me, Bostock has been the most disappointing.

I think the perfect example of a player being loaned out & doing exactly what Redknapp said is Defoe, he went down to Bournemouth and scored an absolute hatful at 17 yrs old! Everyone went mad about how amazing he is & he is now an international striker for a Champions League Club. The likes of Bostock, Rose, Townsend, Parrett, Button, Mason, Obika & now Livermore have to make that same impression.

In regards to Caulker id like to see the boy go to a lower premiership club like Wigan/Wolves to see what he can do as I genuinely think the kid is going to be a superstar! PS - I really hope we get a nobody team in the FA Cup when it starts and possibly play Kane as the boy is on fire for both u-18s & the Spurs XI team!

Picking out our midfielders bad performances in the first half against Arsenal is absolute rubbish.

Harry picked 3 defensive midfielders, they were in each others way numerous times because of the shap of the team. Trying to keep the ball in a congested midfield is hard at the best of times, but when your playing a pressing team, in a hughly charged cup game, its even worse.

He had a better game than palacios. I think this lad is similar to Hudd when he was 19-20. Can't be written off yet.

Yes your quite right. So if we are comparing Sandro's performance to Livermore's lets look at this way. There is no doubt Sandro made more of an impression, and is probably the more talented player in any case, but his improvement came in the second half when the shape of team had been changed to a system we were more use to and the introduction of Lennon and Keane to help implement it. Livermore went off at half time.....so he hardly had a chance to benefit from the change of formation and personnel thereafter, did he?

The problem of 3 defensive midfielders is that we had nobody to help us keep the ball or ping it about. Whats the point in being strong in winning the ball if you cant hold it....futile. Balance was incredibly wrong.

Please don't refer to other smaller clubs like that. There is no such thing as a nobody club (except MK Dons)

I think this will be a great loan move for Livermore, who should hopefully learn a lot playing for Roy Keane, who was one of the Prems best midfielders.

Harry really seems to rate Livermore, judging by his comments on the OS yesterday:

"Jake will do well here. I took him off at half-time, he had a booking, but I think he'll be a good player.
"He gives everything. I think eventually he'll be a good player here and play for Tottenham many times."

Roy Keane just on SSN says they've been waiting three or four weeks and they had to be patient so I suspect we always intended to play him in the Carling Cup and now he's free to go.

I am sort of hoping this loan along with Andros Townsend is all good grist to the mill on a Connor Wickham deal.

I think comparing Sandro and Livermore in anything but age is a little unfair. They may be similar ages but Sandro is a vastly more experienced player both at Club and international level. For Internacional he was the mainstay of their midfield, played almost every game including in the Copa Libertadores and was captain and regular stater for the Brazil U20 side. Livermore's experience is limited by comparison and therefore half or a full season in the championship will do him the world of good.

Once Sandro is up to full fitness and has adapted to the faster pace of the game here I really can't see Palacios getting his first team place back other than through injury.

That is an absolute insult to the Hudd, who showed from the age of 16 that he was a good championship player, and at 18 that he was on a par with Carrick as the best passer we had on offer. Livermore is I would venture the exact opposite, seemingly very mobile and athletic, but having shown no real quality on the ball whatsoever to suggest he will make it in the premiership.

Livermore suffered a broken leg that knocked him back a year or two. I can see good things with him, but Tuesday was not a great example of his ability. It was all far too crowded in that first half.

He needs to go to Ipswich, cement a place in the first XI, then excel. I dont think he will ever be a stand out player, but I think he can be one of those players who does a very solid job and provide good cover.
