If he leaves he's not coming to us. He'll either go to Chelsea or abroad.

Or maybe Liverpool if they offer him enough money to play in the Championship

Rooney is an alright player but we can't afford too many English players if we are serious about EPL/CL success. Already we are becoming 'top heavy' with English players. Although Rooney is english born...he is not 'classic english'...player-wise nor personality-wise? He has the non-english trait that makes him more of a world class. That said....his experiences with England have 'branded' him for life....sad but true (if only he had taken his chance with a decent international side lol). I would suspect that he WILL move to one of the Top Euro Leagues and progress further! COYS!

Are you serious? If the player is good enough it doesn't matter where he comes from.

Weve already got Robbie Keane who in my opinion is a very similar player - so no thanks.

No? People saying "no" seriously need to wake up, he's out of form at the moment but when he's firing he's better than all out strikers put together and then some.

Bingy wins the thread.

If the prize was the 'seriously do you even know what you're talking about or do your fingers go spazzy every time they touch a keyboard' award.

rooney is a thousand times better than our most similar player, keane! (who I am a fan of). If ever possible would be our new Gazza.

Damian....Rooney is world class in ENGLAND (a-la Moore, Banks, ....) but mediocre in the real football world? On the BBC/ITV/Skysports scale a Three Lions jersey automatically means 'World Class' status.....but.....well....it gives us non-english something to laugh at, on a cold night! Long may it continue! I like Rooney and feel that he had the potential to be great....before the English Media made sure that he would suffer at their hands....and that is as English as the Queen....ooops....as Yorkshire Pudding.....ooops...as King Arthur.....OPPPPS....as....Patrick Pearse....or whatever (a laugh.....but at least you can take it well!) COYS!

We need a new poll.

How many people on SC actually have any grasp on reality at all?

 please tell me this is humour and ive missed it? If its not humour then may i point out that the reason people said no is because he is well out of our league, not because he isnt good enough! if it was humour then i apologise!

The question was "should we make a cheeky bid" and several said "no" and that appeared all they had to offer.

Not for one second even "IF" Rooney was up for sale, would i ever expect to see him play for spurs. But that wasn't the question

Im glad you are able to know why other people answered "no" to the question.
