Everton are a tough game and I could see why (after falling behind) a draw is a decent result, but in reality at home that is two points dropped for a team hoping to maintain top four form. Man U and one of Arsenal and man city could gain on us now and we missed a big chance to go ahead of Arsenal if they lost to man city
Not happy with that result, if i was on the pitch i would've lamp that ref! I think we played well and deserved all 3 points but this referee has a soft spot for phil neville and everton!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunate to come up against that ref today. If it'd been the arse playing they'dve got 1 prob 2 pens. Thought Sandro did well after the ref forced us to take palacios off.
Today showed how desperately we need a top quality striker capable of playing up front on their own. Main positive for me was performance of Modic.
Yeah the ref was shit, but having zero goal threat from our lone striker is what cost us a win here.
How anyone can not be frustrated with Crouch after todays game is beyond me. I'm not a hater of his, I appreciate he offers us something different, but he should not be used from the start as a lone frontman.
People will use his assist to defend him, the ball hit him and bounced away as he was trying to control it, that ball could have just as easily rolled out of play as it did into VDV's path. I would like to have seen how the game would have panned out had we started with a striker who can a) score his fair share of goals and b) provide movement to disrupt defences and create space for our attacking midfielders.
To be honest ref aside.....We are absolutely crying out for a striker. If there was ever a problem area for us its uptop and its right now. January cant come soon enough...
I like the 4-5-1 personally, but as proven today crouch cant play well in any formation.....
Regardless of the questionable refereeing we did not win because we were not clinical upfront. Crouch had a number of opportunities but failed to even really test Howard once.
Everton are a strong defensive unit and will give you few chances so we cannot be too disappointed with the result. I thought both sides defended very well today and a draw was a fair result.
We did not learn anything new today but Kaboul and Ekotto had excellent games and Modric is showing signs of returning to form.
Should have won that. Bad substitution by Harry in the second half. He nullified all of our pace, with Lennon going off and Bale going right. And worst of all leaving Crouch on. Shame, two points dropped.
