What's your pick?

I'd love to see Real or Braca come to the Lane. Conversely I dread being drawn againts an English side, especially Red Nose's lot.

Copenhagen, because I would love to see us in the QF, and I've got friends who live there and fancy the away trip.

We could get anyone apart from the English teams and Inter as we don't know where will finish yet. Let's wait til after the Twente game.

If we drew United, then that would be the time we break our jinx... I can just see it...

Honestly, I dont care what side we draw because to be the best in Europe, you'll have to beat the best... Barca or Real would be fantastic but for the round of 16, a nice tie with Braga or Copenhagen would not go down in the complaint book, so to speak.

Why must we wait? It's just a bit of fun to speculate.

Actually Braga would be quite good. I quite like the prospect of them getting shat all over by a team from North London.

Playing them lot in the CL, with a proper, fair and IMPARTIAL International Referee is a totally different cattle of fish alltogether !

Only then, we can be matched and fairly compared with them, not with any of the premier league referees !

I will not fear them at all.

Yeah but at this moment we could get anyone. We can't get Barca/Real if we win our group and we can't get teams that will finish second if we win our group. (I don't think). And I am not looking past the last 16.

We can't get an English team in the next round so we can't draw Man U.

We know for sure we can rule out Inter as they are from our group and the remaining English teams (Chelsea and Man U once arsenal drop out )

I am going to have faith and suggest we will beat Twenty and win our group  which would mean we can only draw the teams coming second in their group.

Likely to be from.....

Roma
Lyon
Marseille
Valencia
Milan
Copenhagen
BRaga :beer::wink:

they're all pretty tough in their own right, but a damn sight easier than if we slip up against Twenty and Inter top the group.

Fancy another trip to the San Serio for Milan? I think Bale could tear them a new one and it would be great to see the players they have in their ranks at the lane.

Valencia? good game but tricky and not that prestigious

I'd rather steer clear of the French teams personally

My personal choice would be Roma as one of my cousins is a Roma season ticket holder and I could go watch with him and also I think they're slow paced football would suit us and we would rip them apart at the Lane.

Copenhagen on paper seems the easy tie, but Barca certainly struggled with them and they are no joke.

Fail to win the group and you could well be looking at one of Bayern, Real or Barca....exciting stuff

Come on man, this is a fans discussion forum.

These types of what if's and who do you want if.... type questions are perfect for such forums.

If you don't want to look past the final group match before you 100% know which position we finish and 100% refuse to engage in discussion for fun on a football forum then why don't you just ignore the thread instead of pissing on other posters parade?

I'd rather do it once we know who we can get. There are certain teams we can't get if we win the group and if we come second. And we cannot get any English teams unless we beat who we get in the round of 16 which I don't want to look beyond.

I'll start a special thread for you when we get into the last 8.

That's fine for you, but some people do like to discuss hypothectical potential match ups. It's part of the excitiment of being in the CL, discussing who we could get, when and why you would or wouldn't want to play them.

As I said this is just a fans dicussion forum, surely the perfect place for like minded fans to discuss potential scenerios.

It's not like the fans engaging in such discussion will result in the team looking past the last 16 and adversely effect the club is it? it's just a bit of fun.

You don't enjoy such discussion and want to only discuss matters of fact as and when you know more info...which is fine and each to their own, but this thread obviously isn't for you, I just feel it would have been better for you to ignore the thread seeing as you didn't wish to contribute to it.

Win Group – Lyon, Valencia, Copenhagen, Roma, Marseille, AC Milan,
2nd – Schalke, Barcelona, Bayern, Real Madrid, Shakhtar*

*Braga would need to win at Shakhtar to stop them topping the group

I'd be quite happy with Copenhagen or Lyon. Slightly less so Marseille. Rather avoid Valencia, don't fancy the away trip to Roma and I'm soooo bored of playing in the San Siro.

The most important thing is that second leg is at home if we win the group.

Still be confident against Schalke or Shakhtar if we are second in the group but don't fancy away second leg in Ukraine if I'm honest!

Well we could have had the same discussion after we beat Man City or Young Boys. We can say it would be great to get Barca and it would, but if we win the group and go out to someone else it won't happen.

When we know who we can get and who we can't get, it will be fun.

Yea but what you consider fun and what is pointless does not automatically translate to how others feel.

Why do you feel the need to tell people that they shouldn't be discussing these things just because you don't wish to?

Surely it is better to simply ignore the thread and allow the people who do wish to debate such things.

Are you suggesting we only discuss things that will happen? where do you draw the line? would you say we can't discuss who we can get in the next round simply because we don't know which teer of teams we could get until after the last round of group fixtures?

If you read my first thread in this post you will notice I address the possibilities of who we could get depending on wheter we come first or second.

Maybe we should never discuss anything unless it is factual, wait until the draw is made then discuss the team we are drawn against.

The simple thing to me is this, such threads and debates as this are perfectly valid for those who wish to engage in them, you do not which is fun but would have been better to have not contributed to the thread seeing as you had nothing relevant to say other than looking down your nose at other posters because they see debating issues that you deem pointless worth while and fun.

I dont want any of the easier teams because there's more chance of an upset there. I think having a tough group was the best thing to happen to us. We didn't underestimate any of our opponents in the group stage. I want a glamour tie, but as long as its someone decent i'll be happy.

I think a game against Valencia would be wonderful to watch. Madrid or Barca would also be great but we'd have a lot less chance winning. I would rather get those later on if we get that far. But a La Liga team would be great now that we've faced Italian, German and Dutch sides.

I'm just loving this champions league experience so much that I don't care who we meet in the next round. I never expected to get any further than the last 16 in the first place so if we advance any further it would be an added bonus. COYS

Copenhagen is a good team, it will not be an easy game. It's still the one I want though, easy travel for me and the kind of team which we should be able to beat.

Calm down. There is no need to over-analyse it. It is pointless at this stage. I don't see it as tempting fate but saying 'I hope we don't get United' now is as irrelevant as saying that when we beat City.

We can get anyone apart from four teams and the half of the residue will be excluded next month leaving a lower number of teams we can draw. If people want to discuss it now, I can't or wouldn't want to stifle that- I have just expressed my view that it is pretty futile.
