I think you need to try a little harder to understand the basic economics of our situation. I can understand the difficulty because fantasy world is beautiful place to be, but unfortunately our chairman has to live in the real world, where you actually have to finance your purchases with real money that is earned or borrowed from banks and we have one of the smallest revenues of any side that has achieved what we have recently achieved and signed the players we have recently signed.

Strange thing to say. We have bought highly rated but unproven players even this window with Coullibaly and Ceballos. We bought the highly rated but unproven players like Kaboul (French U21 captain) and Ekotto, Zokora and spunked good money on highly rated but unproven in our league players like Berbatov and Modric.

As far as VDV goes it was probably buy for 18m and pay all his high wage demand which was a non starter, or pay 8m and get his wages subsidised.

What a terrible deal that was eh ?

Agree with your post but VdV wages aren't subsidised, he was quoted either on his twitter or in the press as stating exactly how much he was on and that he was excited to join... I think someone fabricated that subsidised wages thing on here recently...

Would diarra count as an homegrown having previously played for the arse and chelsea. And Rossi too (2004-2005-2006 in MU) ?

I have posted this in the appropriate forum but it is awaiting moderation.

Villa have booked BMI Medical Centre for Wednesday. N’Zogbia expected but they have booked it all day which suggests others will take place. Also have conference room booked at Belfry to entertain guests.
Hutton, Jenas and Crouch definitely wanted. Combined bid is only just over £15million. Bid has not been accepted, negotiations ongoing, but permission given to speak to players. Worried Jenas will be the most unwilling, so will offer him a shorter contract.

I still stick by German based players; Huntelaar, Farfan and German Based Defender/Full Back (name unknown) It’s not Dortmund one; be realistic; Chelsea are in for him. But deals will be done.

BUT confirmed deals being worked on now are from the Spanish league.
·

As I said in my original post; Afellay was originally thought of as a loan deal. But that was before interest was ever made public. Barcelona will listen to offers.

· Lassana Diarra; definitely trying to do a deal. I had heard this as rumour before but now I have it confirmed. Levy negotiating a good deal for both teams. Rumour on price is £10-12million plus add-ons. I don’t know if any of the other sources have mentioned this before, I can’t see it on the “ITK” forum page. Madrid NEVER paid the reported press price so wont be taking a hit.

Rumour; Contact from Spain for Defoe. No bids etc. just contact and just a rumour.

15M for all?? im unsure how to feel about that £20m sure but i can see why its been turned down...1st round of negotiations done come back with 17-18million....DEAL!! as for Jenas not wanting to go im sure he would hes a Nottingham lad hes always back their when not playing so Villa would be a shorter trip home for the boy!! lets hope its all go from here i dont think i can handle any more false starts lol :)

With regards the the Modric saying goodbye garbage that was posted elsewhere, I would imagine that SSM reporters are trailing Luka's every move these days. If he was really at the ground in his civvies saying his farewells the pictures would be all over SSN by now.

Like I said, garbage as far as I'm concerned.

N'Zogbia??

Why is everyone getting so hyped about him?

He is so unbelievably inconsistent! He is somewhere between Jenas and Pav on the inconsistent, occasionally brilliant scale.

I'm glad we havent signed him. He would be some peoples hero with 10 unbelievable goals, and a scapegoat for others when he literally turds on the pitch for the rest of the season...

Lennon is so, so much better.......so much better!!

In fact i'd go as far as to say Danny Rose is better than N'Zogbia, and as versatile...almost.

We really missed a trick with N'Zogbia. Could've covered 3 or 4 positions for us. Far better player than Pienaar, for example, and would allow us to get rid of Niko and Bentley without risking lack of cover.

agree but if we are actually in for afellay then i think it doesn't matter.

Afellay is arguably better/more talented than A. Young

Can I just start laughing at some of the valuations of Jenas as a result of the Journo's info.

This is a guy who DOES NOT get a game for us and hasn't played regularly for far too long, and people are pricing him around the same as Crouch/VDV, around £8m!

Get real people, if we got shot of him for £3m that's good business. The £15m for the 3 sounds pretty close to what I'd expect, hence Villa can talk to the players.

Are comfortable in terms of home grown players? If the Villa itk is correct then we'd be shipping 3 home grown players and replacing them with foreigners I imagine

I find it ironic that so many people value players not deemed good enough for Tottenham so highly.
I know an initial bid has gone in of over £15million. There will clearly be some negotiating but it cant be that far off and my opinion is it will depend on whether the payment is made in full. And like i said there is a fear that Jenas might refuse. I have heard he will be offered a shorter contract.

15 million is a realistic first offer IMO, if it is indeed a first offer - and if thats the case we probably arn't that far away from accepting it.

Very interesting to see if there are any official developments with this over the next 24 hours or so.

Jenas shouldn't be sold either way. He's willing to be a squad player and is HGT. And he's not as bad as everyone thinks.

O'hara went for £5m --Jenas will be a first team regular at a club with far deeper pockets than Wolves - £3m is way too little in todays market regardless of your obvious opinion of the player

Sounds totally realistic to me, Hutton being in the last year of his contract as well.

Levy obviously has a problem with the £15m for all 3 aswell!! but thats Levy for you he will get 17-18m out of Villa and i think thats a good deal as rightly said Jenas surely knows his day has been and long since gone Villa is closer to home for him i dont see their being a problem their Hutton i personally think is v.poor and as somebody said hes in the last year of his contract and Crouch well i dont want to talk about him as theirs not much to say 17-18m great business lets get it all rolling Levy....Please let it be so!!!

15 million would be good enough for me. 5 million each for a pretty dross trio, and it clears space in the squad and the wage bill.

I'd take what we can for the fringe lot.
