How old is Kane? Maybe we have our striker there. Looks like he made defoe look stupid.

The most ironic and frustrating part of this transfer window thus far is that there are fantastic players going for relatively cheap sums to non Champions League clubs on par with us.

Vidal went to Juventus for 9.2 million pounds. He would have been fantastic in our midfield next to Modric. He's better than Diarra, and frankly, he's better than Sandro (at this point), too.

N'Zogbia looks like he's heading to Villa for 9.5 million. Surely we'd have been a better draw than them. He would've given Lennon major competition and would be fantastic cover in case Bale got injured.

Stekelenburg looks like he's headed to Roma for a paltry figure around 6 million Euros! This is the one that is truly befuddling, as he is an absolute top-shelf keeper who would've been a massive upgrade for us over Gomes, and on the cheap, apparently.

The problem with these bargains is (especially when dealing with strikers), as time goes on they become less likely, as clubs need time to replace who they've sold. Villareal and Roma will up their price the closer we get to the deadline on Rossi and Vucinic because they'll have a harder time replacing them (in Villareal's case, it might be completely impossible). Roma's sporting director has already said last week that Vucinic's price will go up if no one bids on him immediately.

One thing I'm keeping my eye on is whether Odemwingie signs an extension at West Brom. If he wants out, I think he'll decline to sign a new contract, in the hope that a club like us or Arsenal come in for him late. He won't propel us to the top 4, but he is better than what we have.

My realistic dream window is:

Vucinic
Leandro (or at least to have deal for January in place)
Diarra
Afellay

That would be outstanding. Also hope we don't sell Bassong as he's handy cover surely.

krnajcar different gravy in pre season friendly according to reports.. hope he stays.

What reports? I've watched every minute of him available this pre-season and he's been okay, maybe slightly above average.

bassong is not solid enough imo. prone to errors. decent player but he never instills confidence in me just like my beloved jenas ! so for that reason he has to go!

what a load of crap. For a so called flair player he works very hard

Haha, jokes.

Even against Charlton he was walking round hands on hips, making Benny do the work of two men, making the centre back pull round and out of position, creating space in the middle.

If you want to try and find some stats I'd be extremely happy to see them ( and thus be proven right!).

The reason he hasn't played this season? Because van der Vaart has. You can't fit them both in the same midfield - even a five man one - because neither hold shape, neither work defensively, and both go wandering around in the centre of the pitch. It's suicide.

When VDV didn't play he still didn't play which is what I found strange.

Hey #1 Spur. I guess choda was right all along when he was slamming our strikers
at least 2 years ago.

I was at the MK dons game tonight and I would say the 2 worst playsers on the pitch were Defoe and Bentley. Defoe was tackled almost evertime and waving his arms at the ref and Bentley is just terrible, we would be lucky to get 5 million for him. Krancjar scored a great goal tonight, top draw and Townsend and Rose looked bright.

Kane did more in 10 mins than Defoe did in 80!

Aye, you'd expect if he's to be given a chance it'd be then. I think there's more to the Niko story than meets the eye, but that's just what you get from body language and the like. People look back fondly on his season for the two winners he gave us, be that as it may, he struggled with performance whenever given the chance. Take the two goals away and all you're left with is some awful showings. The Charlton one being at the top of the list! God that was dire.

Shame, because his first season was so good. Pienaar gets the nod because he works harder, I have no doubts about that. Steo is very good defensively, and that's why he got the nod against Milan, no question.

I love Niko, but he's high on the list of deadwood.

Haha, not sure I remember a Pav / Keane / JD / Crouch debate so maybe a tad after my time! But yeah, I bet Keano is still the main man in that household! His JD vs Keane threads could be called a bit infamous as far as messageboard posting goes!

We need to sell to buy. By the way, buying players is rarely as succesful as people think it is. If we bought Vidal, Steklenburg and N'Zogbia, at least one would flop.

Plenty of people willing to chat about pre-season friendlies and the performance of our players in the pre-season friendly thread over in Spurs chat.

If we can keep this on discussion of ITK, of which there has been a bit today, that would be great.
