What about a cheeky bosman lined up on the hush hush? I think I recall someone posting a big list up on players running out of contract a while ago.

Gallas was a fucking brilliant free, as was Friedel....any others on the cards?

David Trezeguet is available on a free. And while I'm no fan of old players, this boy can score and often!

I think we can all agree that the transfer policy at this club is a joke. Like Harry said 18 months ago (and nothings changed) we have to move quicker in the Market. Premiums ar put onto values because premium clubs will pay it. It's what divides the clubs in world football. Are we not wanting to be seen as a premium club then?

I'm getting that way too. Too much promise and not enough follow through. Play hardball, buy big and screw the dross like Crouch, Keane & JD. They need 1st team football to get in squads for Euros. Force them to move on.

Just about 300k a week wages to add to our bill and 4 squad places needed, never going to happen.

I'm pretty sure they won't offer all 4 plus money

Llorente or Falcao would be my first choice....although getting Rossi would be brilliant as well...basically any of those 3 really :)

:wink:How quickly you give up your dreams of Higuain

Can anyone confirm that that Levy is going on holiday for two weeks in the next few days? (so say goal.com). Surely not, I'd be fuming if this turned out true with the next few weeks regarding the transfer window set to be vital for the season ahead.

Peanut on COYS re this: He never stops working. He's 24/7 all year round, will be on his phone emailing and texting throughout his 'holiday'. DL is allowed a life and a family. His parents live in Florida and he's got kids at school and university who want to see their grandparents.

Is this referring to Storts cryptic last night?
Yes

Well to be fair he is even more unrealistic than the likes of Rossi is, and has never really been linked with a move away from Real  he is still in my dreams though :)

Looks like Shaqiri can be scrubbed off as a potentional signing too, shame as he is a world star in the making and would have been great on the right for us...

...Bayern Munich are close to completing the transfer of Basel youngster Xherdan Shaqiri. Munich could buy the 19-year-old immediately, but Shaqiri is going to stay one more year on loan in Basel before moving to Bayern. Blick.ch

I admire your optimism but for me they've got:

1) A bigger stadium, therefore bigger income, therefore more wages
2) A better respected manager internationally. Players all love to play for wenger.
3) They've simply been better than us for quite a long time now. Even though we've closed the gap they have still been in title races whereas we haven't.

I'd love to be wrong but I can't see many reasons why someone would choose us ahead of them.

Not so sure about that one TSH, not when Flabbyass and Nasri both want to leave, Cliche has already left, Arshavin has been 'restless' and Van Persie has been issuing ultimatums.

Can't find too much fault with the rest of what you said though.

I'd offer another reason why players want to go to the goons too, they're gaining a reputation as a 'stepping stone' club themselves. There are many out there who have labelled us a feeder club, but we have nothing on the goons.

Paying that little but extra for a player - I'm sure we would re-coup that through merchandise? Shirt Sales. I know the next Spurs Kit would have 'Rossi' on...

Man City will make so much money through the Aguero Purchase,

Guessing its not the Price of the Player - its the actual Wage, maybe the fear of other players comparing and insitsting on a pay rise.

The transfer policy that has signed players like Lennon, Bale, Modric, Davids, Sandro, Palacios, Berbatov, Carrick, Woodgate, Gallas, VdV...that policy ?

Perhaps if Redknapp had moved a bit quicker in January and signed Suarez we might have won more than one game in 13 ?

Perhaps if Redknapp put his hand in his pocket and financed one of these "quick moves" in the transfer market ?

Or even better, if he'd managed to not waste the squad he had at his disposal from February to April and qualified for the CL we'd not be struggling to lure players now, and would be seen as a premium club ?

What d'ya reckon ?

Well, as a business owner that wants his business to stay competitive, I take the view that necessary expenditure is necessary, whether you really want to spend what it takes to achieve that goal or not. The strategy is to find a way to afford that expenditure, not to avoid it and watch the business fall behind competitors. This works if that expenditure is on tangible assets, but more difficult where people are concerned.

The latest ITK seems to suggest that our current needs are being deemed either (a) too expensive or (b) unwilling to sign for us but probably (c) a combination of both. In my line of work, I can deal with (a) with strategy, planning & negotiation. (b) put into the context of staff is harder and sometimes unsolvable even with an open chequebook. Its like a small tech firm trying to compete with Google to headhunt somebody with real talent; unlikely to happen - the bigger fish can always bid more and offer much better terms.

I fear our 5th place has cost our bargaining position, "richer" clubs are deemed much more attractive and so strategy, planning and negotiation are falling short. As for offloading players first, its a logical strategy perhaps but looks less wise if we still fail to bring players in. Perhaps that is the true scenario; we're struggling to bring players in and so can't risk letting others go. We've fallen into a mid-ground of a nearly CL club and with so many actual CL clubs around offering that AND better terms, it is not hard for them to go elsewhere. The CL has helped to create a 2-tier European market, coupled with astounding financial reserves of a handful of clubs, and right now, we find ourselves in the wrong tier. This is probably how League teams feel about the affect of the PL on the domestic market and why we see so many loans to Championship clubs; they often just can't afford the fees and full, undiscounted wages of PL players.

In business terms, I'm confident that Levy is doing a sound job. I get the feeling though that marrying that job to our collective hopes and expectations is an exceptionally difficult task.

I can confirm one of these statements is correct the other is not.

This is getting more and more depressing, I feel irritable, sad, nauseous and restless. Is this signing-withdrawal?

Inter Milan are keen to bolster their squad further, under new boss Gian Piero Gasperini this summer.
The latest reports have suggested that the former Genoa tactician has reignited the club’s interest in Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale, and is considering his options at this point in time.
Despite Harry Redknapp remaining adamant that his star Welshman is not for sale, Telelombardia has revealed that the Nerazzurri are considering a quartet of players who could be used as potential makeweights, in order to bring down the cash component of the deal.
Bale is valued at around £35 million by Spurs, however with the likes of Diego Milito, Goran Pandev, Maicon and Philippe Coutinho thrown into the deal, that fee would considerably decrease.
Inter are yet to formalize an offer for the winger, but he is viewed by Gasperini as the ideal addition to his squad for the upcoming season.

Would we go for this?

no

Exactly. Very well said.

I would say however that it doesn't help us keep our own hopes in check when Harry himself talks about players like Rossi and Adebayor.
