I think we could pay Adebayor very GOOD wages, but not near the level of what he is on at City.

Things like this piss me off, City have clearly f'ed things up : they have Wright Phillips, Santa Cruz, Bellamy, Adebayour, Wayne Bridge all outside their 25 man squad essentially. Now all these guys are on massive massive wages, clubs are clearly interested but can't make a move happen as they can't pay the wages and players won't take a cut (yes yes they earn stupid amounts but would you take a drastic pay cut?).

Essentially you have talented players "not good enough" for City but can't play for anyone else..unless City deem a loan appropriate (ie. Bridge to relegation threatened West Ham, Santa Cruz to bottom 6 Blackburn, Bellamy to Cardiff in the Championship).

City seem to be happy to control the transfer market and the FA(bunch of clowns), UEFA etc seem to be happy to let them.

So i assume it's gonna be a loan, but don't most loan deals have the player on the same wage as they were already on?

If that is true I would say he is playing hard ball with MC more than us. If some fool thought it was worth paying me 180k a week I'd want to try and get as much out of it as possible. He knows neither we, nor anybody else, can pay that so he is probably trying to get some deal with MC.

Yes, the team that owns a player is legally responsible for those wages. If they can get a club to pay part on a loan deal then it's great. But few do and thus the loaning club has to make up the difference.

Surely we need to be looking to buy a player instead of loaning.

It's a shame that clubs don't just refuse to take players from City. Leave them with all the average players they've bought at inflated prices and wages and see what happens when the fair play rules come in. Never going to happen though so we'll have to just try to get them to pay part of Ade's wages for us - as I'm sure they were doing when he was at RM.

A suspicious mind could easily form the opinion that this is a very clever tactic. The biggest clubs have done this for years, just not quite with such overt abandon.

Really can't see City paying half his wages to loan him out to us. Would be nice if he just accepted 100k a week poor diddums, though obviously when you get 200k a week to start with, you become accustomed to that lifestyle. But yeah, would be cool if he came out and said 'i took a massive pay cut because i want to help Spurs get into the CL ahead of Arsenal'. Or something similar. In a language we understand. At less than 400mph.

It's a brilliant tactic and quite frankly they don't give a shit. They have no interest in making us stronger.

Granted we don't want to continually rebuild ourselves. That being said, 19-24's are "now" players. Dortmund and Lille just won titles with squads filled with u25's. Adebayor might be proven in the prem, but he is the only one on that list that is. Everybody else is a boom/bust potential just like the one's I listed. And once again, that's from my knowledge base. Our scouting department should be better than me.

Not that you are a poor judge of quality players but you would hope our scouts were a lot better but somehow I doubt it.

Im sure levy has a late option to go for that will be an upgrade! someone like osvaldo say, wave 20m at espanyol and they will sell. (even tho i think he could be amazing and we should maybe go for him) problem is the later we leave things regarding strikers out the more likely we may be left with 4/5 forwards.

The point is if the deal looks too problematic we should just move on, if Levy still thinks its possible - crack on with an eye firmly on the clock.

Right a different slant that someone else has mentioned is we've asked for City to pay a huge chunk of his wages and got told to f off.

I find it strange that NOTHING more has come out about us being in 'deep talks with Villarreal, but not for Rossi'.

It seems like a strange rumour to appear out of nowhere, and hasn't been picked up by anyone else has it ?

I just have a nagging feeling that Nilmar is a sleeper choice right now. He'd be under 20m Euros most likely, probably isn't on very high wages, has been linked to us 6 months ago, and could easily have been recommended by, or be on good friendly terms with, Sandro and Gomes. He would have seen us last season in the CL, then been at international meets with both those guys.

He just seems like a more realistic target than Rossi, and I think, at this point, between fees and wages (30m and 100K+ versus maybe 17-20m odd and say 70-80K ), he might just represent slightly better value for our parameters.

Personally I wouldn't even negotiate with City..................any players there that go for the money and can't get into their squad..........let them rot.
Every team should do the same.

Such naivety on here. Adebayor doesn't give two shits who he plays for just as long as they pay him as much as possible. In fairness, he is not alone there. But don't go thinking that with weeks left of the window he has come out and said "yes of course I'll accept a wage cut." he's got time on his contract still so worse case scenario- he still earns a bomb next year. More likely he and his agent know he is in demand and know they will get a higher weekly wage (possibly from us) by leaving it until as late as possible until clubs (possibly like us) get desperate and agree to pay him more.
Of course I could be wrong but I this just feels like exactly the sort of bloke he is.
Not who I want at spurs

exactly. has to be better option out there but worst case scenario get him in cos he is better that what we got

Samba should happen before Everton!
Told that Diarra deal is close but not done and dusted.
Llorente is also a goer
Also told City waiting to try and offload Adebayor rather than loan him to us

 I know i keep name dropping but this would be fantastic! Nilmar, osvaldo, pav, kane. Get the 2 new boys for 35m and like was mentioned around 70k maybe slighlty more. I would be well happy with those 4.:grin::grin:.

He scores goals and therefore I want him at Spurs.

Wage talks are not my concern and frankly they bore me. I want GOALS and I don't care if we pay through the nose for them. It's not my bottom line.
