Bit more from Storts regarding Lavezzi (posted last night)...

I mentioned him at the start of the window, we have definitely shown an interest and discussed him with Napoli.

He's naffing class.

Sorry, but I thought naff was English slang for rubbish, crap, shit, etc. Can I assume it means good in this context?

i think this is looking increasingly likely now. I think the situation is starting to look quite simple. To get a top top striker (Rossi/Llorente/Adebayor) we're going to have to spend the sort of money that we haven't spent before, particularly when it comes to wages.

Whether Levy will do this, and whether we can afford to do it, is another question entirely. If not then I hope we've got some backup options in the lower price bracket.

This is true. And I think from the numerous quotes telling us that Something Big Will Happen or It'll Be Okay or Levy Knows He Has To Spend, I suspect he already has half a dozen ducks lined up. However, he won't spend his money until the last day if he doesn't have to.

Basically, he's hoping one of the ducks will come cheaper than hoped and save us 2-3m or more, or he's prepared to just spend the money on Aug 31.

Now, you can tear your hair out that we're not getting a signing early enough or respect the fact that we're getting a big signing at all and doing it this way has the chance to save us some money.

Surely that is just the nature of Cryptic clues. If we take the goat's for example, collectively we must thought of 10 solutions to each of the clues, each making sense to varying degrees, which is very similar to the "gfts" or "blue and yellow" clues.

Indeed. Which is why you have to respect the fact that The Goat reveals his answers once the information is no longer sensitive.

And possibly wonder why other ITKs don't...

Jesus if we field a team in the EPL that consists of Lavezzi,Mata,VDV,Modric,Lennon,Diarra,Ekotto and possibly Rossi........we are going to concede a bucket load of goals from set pieces and corners.

Is this a cunning plan by Levy to save money because they will only need Large Boys size shirts and they are a bit cheaper to buy than the Adult one.

I hate to quote Tony Cascarino, mainly because he's a massive twat, but he had a point today and that was if you keep the ball, especially in the advanced positions, there's really never going to be a great deal of pressure on your defence. In fairness, his example was Barcelona v Man U CL Final, but I guess the example here is that Barca are a short team that keep the ball well up top, which wins them a lot of trophies. I'm well aware that we're not Barca, but in the players you name there is a capacity to do what the Catalan conquerors do to great effect.

But we know how the cryptics apply to and there are good reasons why they apply.

If blue and yellow is something clever like an anagram of the two players we're going to sign then fair enough, but if it's just their kit colour then it's meaningless. Same with GTFS, if it just refers to a wide player it's meaningless.

Apparently there's a Diarra update on COYS from POTL - or it could just be from last night - anyone seen?

Yeah but Barca actually do a bit of coaching to produce their brand of football and we are light years away from that.
