But we know how the cryptics apply to and there are good reasons why they apply.

If blue and yellow is something clever like an anagram of the two players we're going to sign then fair enough, but if it's just their kit colour then it's meaningless. Same with GTFS, if it just refers to a wide player it's meaningless.

I'm not having a dig about the goats cryptic clues mate. I am just saying that cryptics are a bit of a grey area. The good thing about the goats is that you guys reveal the answers when you can. However, if POTL/Storts have told the COYS mods who they relate to then I guess it's a similar situation other than the fact they never bother to tell you who they meant :bang:.

Am I the only one who's not ecstatic about Diarra? He's a class player but not what we need. I can almost see how we rotate Diarra and Sandro to play along Modric but Diarra/Sandro/Jenas/Huddlestone?

Just had a text off me mate as I text him begging for info, he still says what he said at the weekend, Palacios is 99.99999 done just the medical to go and he thinks it will be announced tomorrow which is what he said yesterday, he'd be surprised if it was today, I just sent him one back and said tell em to get fucking on with it, we want him today

I like Lavezzi. He's the type of hard working striker we've been lacking. But he isn't the goalscorer we need. He's really a Kuyt type who presses high up the pitch. If it were a case of Lavezzi AND one of Rossi/Adebayor/Llorente then that would really strengthen our front line.

Lavezzi for Keane and Adebayor for Crouch would be great. Highly unlikely though.

Whilst I'd agree with your concerns Rob, Diarra is a fantastic addition to the side, IMO. He's always biting at the ankles of the opposition, never stops chasing and running and is the perfect foil for any back four. Sandro and Diarra together would be like a brick wall. How we'd cater for that pairing with the rest of the formation would be interesting, mind.

I've always been a big fan of Lass. Would be a great signing.

Diarra is just an upgrade on Wilson really. He could quite easily play the anchor role next Modric/Huddlestone or allow us to play two midfielders (along side Sandro) capable of breaking up play on tough away days.

He is a good signing, but not worth a street party.

Hi,

Nothing has happened thus far mate. We have had a bit of info suggesting Wilson may be close to moving to Stoke and that we have got a deal in place for Diarra which may be announced tomorrow. However there has been nothing too concrete, and to mix things up a bit Diarra was watching PSG rather than us the other night. Hope that helps...

thank you!

i will check in again later hoping for some concrete news!

I get what you were saying but it's not a cryptic. It's a vague hint at a generic attribute of a player (his nationality, his position, etc) that could apply to almost anyone you want it to. Take a look at the real cryptics posted and whilst they've been very obscure and hard to get, they're also quite specific. You can sometimes twist it to fit one or two different players extremely well but B&Y could be anyone who plays for France, Italy, Brazil, Chelsea, Everton, Man City, Villareal, etc.

As far as I'm aware, no one but POTL knows who Blue and Yellow refers to.

If GTFS is just meant to mean we're looking for a winger then fine but it sounds more like it'll be made to fit a specific player after the event...

i cant help but feel that we are going to see a foramtion change if the targets we have been linked with are true, seems like the players we have will be perfect for a 4-3-3

diarra modric sandro in midfield

bale vdv ruiz/lavezzi as a rotating front 3 type thing?

failing that, im talking rubbish and we will see a lot more rotation this year

Yeah but Barca actually do a bit of coaching to produce their brand of football and we are light years away from that.

Fair point. They also had the advantage of Johan Cruyff setting out their football philosophy (Pioneer of the 4-3-3 and total football). Thems the breaks.

I think with Sandro injured and still relatively inexperienced in the Premiership it's well worth us having another player who can do the defensive role in midfield. For so long after Carrick left we had a powderpuff midfield and I still don't like seeing us lineup with Huddlestone and Modric together in the middle (unless against a very weak team).

I suppose with Palacios leaving we're not spending a huge net amount on Diarra and he gives us plenty of options.

We can put Sandro and Diarra together if we need a wall in midfield (like we did away in the San Siro). They can rotate to play with Modric. They could both play with Modric in a 4-5-1 with Modders a bit more advanced than normal.

Generally I just think it makes our squad stronger and that's no bad thing.

If he's the only person we sign from here on in though I'll be distinctly underwhelmed.
