If we kept Modric & brought in the most heavily linked players Samba, Diarra & Adebayor?

With Freidel already in and Walker back we have improved on two arguably problem areas of last season.

With Woodgate gone and King never fit we have lost two class CBs, Samba could fill the void, whilst Gallas & Kaboul would offer him and Dawson excellent cover.

Sandro injured and Palacios off to Stoke we need a DM, Diarra would actually be an improvement on Sandro and would make our midfield truly world-class.
To really make a difference everyone knows we need a new strong quality CF to lead the line and Adebayor would be one Super signing, possibly better than last year super bargain signing VdV.

Would definitely be capable of wining UEFA and possibly be shock contenders.....

We could.

I predict:
-Samba, Ade, Diarra + 1 more forward.
-Lennon to score 10+ goals
-3rd and a cup.
-Final 4 in Europe.

This is ITK if you spell 'shit' with a K

Gomes > Friedel
Kaboul and Gallas > Samba
Sandro > Diarra - although I love Lass and want to see them alongside eachother.

Not sure Samba is a massive upgrade on Kaboul to be honest

Diarra and Adebayor would be awesome though

The cherry on top would be Rossi but I can't see it happening

If we get them, then with a fair wind I can see us being excellent and certainly challenging strongly for the top 4

Without them I think we're headed for 6 at best

Oh and Walker isn't better than Charlie yet but possibly suited better to the side if VDV plays from the right cutting in.

No striker = No balance = Disappointing season

We have a settled squad, Modric hopefully too when the season starts. Even without signing nobody we can finish top4. Defoe especially Gomes can't be any worse...if Ledley King can be fit for more games and we get Adebayor, top 2-4 isn't out of the question.

Liverpool have made a lot of signings and will IMO take time to settle. Chelsea are ageing, City have to many unstable players with a negative manager.

I fancy a deadline day surprise. Maybe Afellay.

I'm not too fussed about the centre back but Samba would be a good addition provided he doesn't cost too much.

Diarra, Adebayor and Afellay would strengthen us greatly. Then maybe get Leandro in January like we did with Sandro.

Our transfer dealings are not finished.
Even without buying anyone else, we have a squad that has great comaraderie, and, being young, they are improving all of the time. They have last years experiences to learn from, and that includes the CL experiences. We don't have it this year, and so less distraction and less pressure due to not being tipped by the pundits.
And our squad will be improved by 1st September.

Now is a good time to take advantager of the crazy odds being offered on us by the bookies, becuase I think we will really do well this year.

I'm actually a bit worried about this season. Squad wise we can easily compete with Liverpool, and if Arsenal lose Fabregas and Nasri and we can sign Adebayor then technically, squad wise we won't be far off arsenal either, but I think Redknap really started to struggle last year to adapt to the tactical requirements that our squad and the challenge of retaining for top 4 and CL football brought.

Basic things like preparation, organisation, leadership, tactics, work rate, pressing are just not up to what is required by a side with the aspirations we have. Having a great squad can get you so far, and it did, especially as Liverpool were failing and ManC hadn't quite arrived but we have gone as far as we are going to go with just a good squad, we need our manager to put a lot more into the equation and I honestly don't think Redknapp can.

From getting the best out of an under performing squad, he last season managed to mis manage the squad and we saw Lennon and Defoe have their worst seasons ever just about, Bale was poor for the last 6 months, he continued to fuck Pav about, Crouch was benched for 3 months after scoring against Milan, Dawson is being selected ahead of the clearly more talented Kaboul, who was also played at RB ahead of the RB's we have sometimes, Kranjcar was under used, VDV was shifted out from where he clearly should play to RM, Palacios has been marginalised because we fluked three games without him once, Huddelstone seems to be Redknapp's first choice CM when fit despite the fact that he is the footballing equivalent of a mogadon.

The court case must also be playing heavily on Redknapp's brain, his decision making must be affected and we are getting lots of ITK that him and Levy are not singing from the same hymn sheet, not helped by Redknapp's desire to have his every word broadcast on SSN.

I hope to fuckery that I'm proved wrong, but I don't believe that a striker will fix all our problems, I worry as much about a defence that is captained by Dawson and contains the ponderous Corluka and casual Ekotto.

And if we end up with playing Modric and Huddelstone in CM with Bale and Lennon we will seem the same end to end lottery football with no graft cohesion or balance.

We need to learn that what you do off the ball is as important as on the ball.

I think we have at least the fifth best squad on paper. But I think that we continue to not make use of that squad wisely we will under achieve.

I'd say with Fabregas and Nasri gone, and a good new striker here, we have a squad easily as good as Arsenal's, if not better.

Don't forget they've strengthened too

New strikers, Vermalen will be back. Ramsey could blossom to replace last seasons disinterested Fabregas. Goalkeeper maturing. Arshavin
could replace Nasri if they switch to 4-4-2

I don't think they will be that much weaker next season.

If we do sign an amazing striker then we should be able to beat anyone

I beileve this could be our best season in the prem.
We should have been at least 4th or 3rd last season, but due to bales injury, striker form and Gomez re vert we missed out.
My main point is Arsenal will struggle this year, but i also think there could be trouble at city, I can see rumblings already about mancini before a ball is kicked..there is a danger (hope) they will self implode..I also do not see chelsea having a great season. The new manager is going to struggle with the ego,s in the board room and on the field. Drogba probably one of the top 3 best strikers ever in the prem is being pushed out by torres who Is so out of form he makes Defoe look good and questions have to asked is he out of form or has he lost it, like Michael owen did when he left pool.
Pool are back and united will win the league again.

Palacios has been marginalised because we fluked three games without him once

Absolute bollocks the bloke was dreadfully short of form and piss poor at times last season. Aside that fact though, Harry did make some very strange selection choices at times with the wrong choice of player aswell.

imo i think we may struggle this season, we will need Gomes to find his best form, Ledley King to play more often than not and someone who can find the back of the net most games.

Because that's what you do, worry :hump: So, what are you saying? We need a busy <CENSOR EVASION>

I agree with some of what you say (though, the usual obsession with Dawson and Huddleston leaves me meh). And, say it quietly, if we managed slip 'Arry out, and, say, Ancelotti in (as has been alleged) I wouldn't lose any sleep.

Gomes

Walker Gallas King Bale

Sandro Diarra

van der Vaart Kranjcar Modric

Adebayor

That would be a rate team IMO. But I believe we will simply start the season disjointed and toothless.

Nope we are not going to have special season, we will have a good season.

We needed strikers and we failed to get.

No way in hell would I start the season with both Walker and Bale as full backs. One of them maybe, but having two defensively fragile defenders in the team, especially with the difficult games we start the season with, would seem like suicide to me.

I do like the idea of the midfield, and I understand the lack of pace and width in that midfield seems to necessitate the attacking full backs you've chosen, alhough I think Corluka's attacking play is underrated by quite a lot of people.

For me, I hope we line up against United as:

Gomes
Corluka Gallas King Benni
Diarra Modric
VdV Kranjcar Bale
Adebayor

With Lennon, Walker and Townsend on the bench to offer some serious pace in the last half hour, if necessary.

Later on in the season, when Sandro returns to fitness, I'd be happy to see your team selection.

Although I mainly just hope and pray we don't start the season with a central midfield of Huddlestone and Modric. If we don't sign Diarra in time, we have to start Palacios.
