Why is it so hard for people to grasp that until we offload players surplus to requirements, we would be struggling to bring new players in - not from a financial viewpoint, but from a simplistic viewpoint of we have too many players in our squad!

People can criticise Levy all they want but he's in a very tricky postion on various fronts, none more so than the whole Modric saga but I still wouldn't want anyone else at the helm to steer us through and we can only judge how successful this window has been come 1st September, not today!

Have faith folks...

I think its tricky of you play tight fisted businessman and try and get mega riches for your highly paid players.

Frankly, if I were Levy I would've been minded to let some of them go on a free just to free up squad space and get rid of the extra salaries. Certainly if new signings are dependant on these players going.

I think the majority of sensible fans do realise that we need to offload before we buy. The 25 man squad regulations alone make that a necessity and that's before taking into account the financial aspect of it all.

I think the problem is that even the most pessimistic of fans would have hoped we'd have got rid of more than just O'Hara and Keane by this stage. 10 days to sell up to 6 players and bring in another 3 or 4 really is cutting it fine.

I'm not laying the blame for that exclusively at the door of Levy because, like everyone else on here, I don't know what's been going on behind closed doors. But I do understand why people are anxious.

You mean Kia Joorabchin.
i hear you.. but without Harry's comments last night we wouldn't be discussing this today. It's the same with Ade.. plenty of ITK but it was Harry who helped light the touch paper. It doesn't happen with other clubs. Can't fault Harry for what he's achieved over the last few years but as our best known ITK he really needs to learn to shut it.

As with POTL info - I personally wouldn't disregard last minute top notch! Rossi or LLorente. :)
So i'll stick to my sig.
The more time we take with Ade and if RM doesn't get a top notch player, then they make go back for him but i doubt it very much

Where they famously don't have computers.

I think Zamora would be a great signing. I rate him highly. I didn't rate him when we first had him but he's a completely different player now. The only question mark for me is over his general fitness as he often seems to be out injured. Other than that though, I see him as an upgrade on all our current strikers.

I still want Adebayor a whole lot more and pray we do eventually get him, but I'd be delighted if we manage to sign both Adebayor and Zamora.

Seriously, there is no way any level headed chairman would write off the likes of Bentley, Hutton and Bassong (a combined fee of circa £34 million) just to free up some space so we can acquire some more potentially expensive mistakes.

Anything we have heard regarding Levy's tight-fistedness is purely conjecture as none of us know the true negotiations that have taken place for any of our players, nor potential recruits in the likes of Adebayor and Diarra.

We have too many players in our squad because it would appear that we are reluctant to take a hit on them, if these players are holding back our progress, get them out the fucking door. It's said we're prepared to make a fucking amazing footballer rot in the stands so why not these fucking also rans? Which makes more sense?

Sorry, I just don't want Zamora anywhere near Spurs. Could just be me though

Our inability to sell, for whatever reason(s) is really killing us at the moment

You cant blame Levy for Modric going on strike (the little prick) but the way Levy does his business leaves a sour taste. Im sure he can handle himself better instead of antagonizing people he is doing business with. Sure, there is always the need to get yourself the best deal but he just smacks of a fecking cheapskate.

He will sell Modric on the last day and give Arry no time to buy replacements. I know because this is true to form. Since Comolli left he hasnt managed to put a deal together and it seems every board at every club seem to dislike him and I can see why. Time for decisiveness, sell the little prick and get in the replacements pronto. Dont fuck up like we did with Berba and end up with Fraser Campbell. He winds me up the tightfisted so and so. Sometimes there is no scope for a good deal and you just got to accept something isnt perfect for the good of the team.

I hope he proves me wrong because the last 3 windows have been a nightmare.

does anyone remember the first day of the window? so fresh faced with our hopes and dreams, anything was possible. Players from madrid, barcelona, villareal and valencia were mentioned....skip forward 2 months and our target is possibly the best player from fulham...

better yet does anyone remember the night we beat man city to qualify for the champions league? my my the potential transfers we could get now we were in that most elusive of competitions....christ on a bike wearing a zamora shirt, where has it (potentially) all gone wrong?

General info nothing player related:

I just wanted to say that people need to get real. I know for a fact that people at the the very top of the club do listen to pundits on TV and radio and can't believe the naiviety and at times sheer idiocy of their comments from these so called experts about transfer dealings and running a club. I can tell you now that if any of these so called experts ran a club we would be out of business faster than you can say "ratboy." We have money but do have to work within limitations as we're not a Utd or City or Chelsea. We just have to be smarter. Some people say we have to invest, or "come on Levy stop penny pinching" with regards to transfer fees/wages, just pay the 100K a week exta like it's nothing. Again get real. Unfortunatley we have to run the club properly. This is not fantasy football.

The fact is no one really know what goes on - so please don't listen to individuals on radio, TV, internet, printed press.

As a side note - whatever anyone's thoughts on the Olympic Stadium were, I can tell you that not getting it was one of the worst things that could have happened to us.

I personally think we will see a sizeable number of players surplus to requirements leave us on loan deals as I cannot see any buying club stumping up a suitable amount for any of the said players unless QPR come steaming in with offers left, right and centre.

Teams like Villa, Stoke, Fulham etc will know we are in this position of 'sell to buy' so i'd fully expect them to sit back as well untill the deadline and try to squeeze a cut-price deal out of us or, the more plausible scenario of season long loans - either way doesn't help us as time is at a premium.

Our inability to sell, for whatever reason(s) is really killing us at the moment

I feel part of the problem is that EVERYONE knows we are desperate to offload our surplus players, other clubs have careful and canny chairmen who will look to get the best deals for their respective clubs and will therefore wait as long as possible to make their bids in the hope that they may get a bargain towards the end of the window. I am sure Levy knows this too and is prepared to wait as well.

This would lead me to believe the Journo's info, that deals for the German players are agreed in principle ready to be completed at the last minute. Who knows what other irons there are in the fire?
