POTL in response to this post on COYS....

People missing the point. Even POTL seems disillusioned and not so upbeat about This windows dealings. Could end up with no one. Why wouldn't Luka wanna join someone with some ambition something our investment owners clearly do not

Response...

Not downbeat, A shame that our intened business was not tied up earlier, but targets have remained the same all window, negotiations have just taken a lot longer than anticipated. There will and are signings. I guarantee it.

COYS.

POTL.

Excellent, now everyone put down the razor blades, stop tying the noose and unload that gun....

We are Spurs fans, we are patient and we will be rewarded!

I am shocked that so many people can't see that football in the Premier League is all about money!
For Clubs, players and agents............that's all that matters.

Do people actually believe that players like Aguero,Tevez and Toure signed for City because they believed in their project.
No because they offered them a bucket load of money, that's why!

We couldn't sign the likes of Young because United offered him £130,000 a week,we couldn't sign Phil Jones because United can pay him a fortune too.
We couldn't sign Downing because Liverpool can give him £80,000 a week and we couldn't sign Mata because Chelsea are paying him god knows what.
It's all about money!

But isn't it our manager's job to identify good players that we can afford to buy and will stay within our financial constraints?

We all want Ferrari's but we have to work within our budgets.

Sounds good, but how is Harry going to know what we can afford to pay. I imagine he does tell Levy who he would like, its Levy's task to try and get them at a price and wages we can afford. The wages are a critical part of the equation.

I'm not wishing to blame anyone, the simple fact is that the final responsibility rests with Levy particularly as our ability to sell players is obviously putting a hold on our ability to buy. Harry has no say in that.

With the right additions in the last 2 windows it's fair to say we'd have had an excellent chance of cementing a place as a CL team, despite these other teams. The fact these teams have more money didn't make them any better than us last season when we played most of them off the park.

We are dwindling our position away with our inability to act and strike while the iron is hot. Our dealings history shows that this is not a one off.

We are close to a team that can compete with all of those teams and seemingly have money available to spend (of which we've spent exactly fuck all of so far), but for whatever reason (I suspect posturing for the traditional Levy reasons) we are treading water while the others are strengthening their squads and positions to compete.

The 4 of United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal were all on another plain because they were CL regulars, we had that chance and fluffed it by not getting the right players in. Citeh have changed the game, yes, but not all those players are on massive wages and there are far more 'lesser' player we appear to have missed the boat on and you have to ask why.

If we "can't compete", that's the attitude that will see all our best players move to pastures new, we need to compete now. If you can show me that getting one or two strikers in after needing them for over a year isn't vaible or possible right now and isn't in the best interests in the future of the club, then I'll shut up. Show ambition was the war cry, not we can't compete.

You're missing the point though. The reason we can't always 'strike whilst the iron is hot' (and remember we have done that previously) is that agents, players and selling clubs will always be looking for the club with the most money and that is rarely us.

We can't just say 'right that player is worth 10m...let's pay 20m to get him before others do' (which is what Liverpool did with Henderson and Carroll). We don't have the money to do that.

Quite, although patience is a virtue and is in extremely short supply on this site!

There was a guy on here that wrote an amusing 'message to the fans' from Levy at the start of the window, jokingly predicting another disasterous transfer window.

I laughed at the time, thinking that there was no possible way we could be in that position again... but it's not looking too far off the mark now!

Seriously though, I think we'll be ok, peeps need to chill.

I'm off on holiday this Wednesday and get back on the 31st August. If people are like this in here today (with over a week left), then I shudder to think what it's going to be like in here when I switch my laptop on at lunchtime on 31st August!

After what happened in January, I'm glad I'll be missing the next 7 days - you need Prozac to last any sustained period of time in here! That said, I'll probably manage to sneak away from my girlfriend to an internet cafe for a few sordid little peeks into the cut-wrist world of the Daily ITK thread

I believe though. Levy is going to get us all excited - just like with VDV last year.

August 31st I want to see this on my screen:

You really are banging your head against a brick wall there. he is caught in some kind of trip where reality and his sun dream team are in a melting pot of sheer fantasy.

All of that is true and unfortunate, BUT, we have done it the right way and have slowly closed the gap. We were only very slightly behind the "big teams" over the last 2 seasons and with a couple of additions we could be even closer. So while it is true that we are at an advantage, but Ashley Young for an example is simply not 70-80 grand a week better than Lennon, so why should we pay that for him?

Thanks for passing on but as you said that's his opinion and not based on facts... I will wait for events to unfold before writing us off...

We're gonna sign no one until the 31st August are we? We've joked about it all window, but that's the fucking actual reality of the situation.

The word "shambolic" keeps coming up, which from the outside looking in sounds about right.

We've truly pissed on our chips. From one moment looking like we were all set for a seat at the big table with the big boys... to now scrambling about in the last week of a transfer window desperately hoping we can improve our squad so we can have a chance of finishing top 6. Happy days :(

As for YELLOW - I thought Leandro was yellow, and Bap Bap American was Rossi?

Either way, neither are fucking signing for us. Not this window anyway.

Frustration!

How much ITK said that we were all looking good to have things wrapped up early, learnt from previous mistakes etc.

No footballer is worth that kind of money................but if you want to really buy these kind of players now for your team then that's the going rate.

If we were interested in these players then our Manager wanted to buy them and that's the kind of wages we need to pay.

Personally,I would be looking elsewhere for promising players who have a big future but are not yet coveted by the money clubs around the world.
