Slightly off topic but say Spurs wanted to sign Asamoah Gyan (example), and Sunderland wouldn't sell and refused to sell and then reports that "bartering" was underway. Wtf does bartering mean?

Journalists source isn't Spurs I think he's said that before, I think there may be a Villa link so no doubt he knows about the Hutton job but even though he said Villa have to be told of any deal they don't have to be told until it's done, any negotiations are fuck all to do with them.
