If Parker and Lennon are deemed fit to play, I'd start them. Wolves will be no walkover. I'd go:

Friedel
Walker Dawson Kaboul BAE
Lennon Parker Modric Bale
Defoe Ade

Much as I like Defoe, and he's scored well this season, VDV has been unbelievable lately so I can't understand why you'd leave him out. Whether from the right or in the middle, lately VDV has been absolutely superb every time and absolutely ran the show against Everton.

Team should be unchanged, any injury returns can be on the bench if needed with citeh in mind next week

Hopefully we get a fast start, because I would be looking to bring JD on at halftime for Ade, seeing as he will be starting against City next week.

I'm thinking Parker should sit on the bench and maybe play the last half an hour. 1) Ease him back in with minimal risk of setting his recovery back and 2) it would give the team a chance to further cement how they will play without him, if the situation arises again.

Wolves aren't a pushover by any means, but they do lack something in the middle, especially with J'O still out injured, so it does give us a little more lee-way to field a couple of second string players with half an eye on next week.

I agree in part with you, but I'm still not convinced about VdV's fitness levels and could see him being subbed on 60 minutes if he plays again tomorrow. With Lennon back in the side, and a Wolves side that presumably will give it a go rather than sitting back, I think the Lennon-Defoe combo could produce a few goals (I'm thinking along the lines of the Wigan 9-1 game).

I doubted VDVs fitness levels before but in recent games he's playing 90 and fighting till the very end as well. V WBA towards the end he tracked back, fought and tackled brilliantly at our RB position before playing the ball forward. It's as fit as he's been in his time with us I think.

I see the argument for Defoe but I just don't see the sense in leaving out VDV at the moment.

What sort of team are Wolves likely to play? Will they go 4-5-1 with Doyle leading the line or have they been a bit more adventurous this season?

If they go 4-5-1 we need to be careful we don't get overrun in midfield. Rafa would have to work hard certainly.

True, but Everton played a 451 the other day (and were fucking filthy and aggressive throughout) and we still controlled that game.

They'll probably go 4-5-1....with Fletcher leading the line.

Something like that I reckon but don't think Ohara is fit.

Yeah but their 4-5-1 had three forwards and two attacking midfielders in it. It wasn't a defensive set up at all and we made the most of that.

Wolves are more likely to actually come with three central midfielders (if that's what they'll play) like they have done previously and we'll need to make sure we don't let them control the game.

In my opinion the best way to counter a team who go out to stifle us is to have as many players on the pitch who can use the ball cleverly and unpredictably. Especially with Sandro still unavailable, we'll never match them for might in the centre, but we can move the ball around too quickly for them to get anywhere near us.

Parker in for Livermore, and Pienaar in for Lennon if he really must be rested.

The inflatable pilot from 'Airplane' to replace Pav on the bench.

Don't think Livermore deserves to be dropped against Wolves, regardless of whether Parker is deemed fit or not.

I agree with Pienaar in for Lennon, although I would personally then go 433 with Pienaar, Livermore and Modric in a tight 3 with VdV, Adebayor and Bale in front.

Tactically we could do what Barcelona have occasionally done and go 3 at the back when sides come, play deep and 4 5 1 against them. At home we do need to go 2 up front but it is just as important to to get players wide to the touchline ....wing backs is a good way of doing this and our central midfield three are not outnumbered. This said, I can't see Harry starting with 3 5 2 or 3 4 3........it may end up that way though

For me the main thing Livermore's performance against Everton proved was that he's a good back-up option if needed. It was certainly a good performance, but if Parker is fit he should definitely play ahead of him, in my opinion.
